General Information
Introduction
The Zinger is designed to be used with a cordless or electric drill to assist
in pushing or pulling fiber optic cable, a fiberglass rodder, or other types
of stiff wire or cable (product) through a conduit. It can also pull a string
or mule tape through a duct or conduit.
Using the Zinger greatly speeds up the process of pushing or pulling fiber,
flat-drop fiber, or other products up to 1/2” (12 mm) diameter. It also
relieves the physical fatigue of working with hundreds of feet of product
throughout the day.
The Zinger was designed for product runs of up to 300 feet, but in some cases,
up to 1,000 feet of product has been successfully pushed into a conduit.
NOTICE
Please keep in mind, in order for the Zingerto work effectively, the product
must be able to be pulled or pushed easily by hand. If the product cannot be
pushed or pulled by hand, do not use the Zinger.

the product stops moving it can damage either the product or the rollers in
the unit.
Use a drill (cordless or electric) with an adjustable clutch to regulate the
pushing/pulling power.
Operation
There are two methods of inserting the product into the Zinger. The first method is releasing the latch and opening the unit to insert the product. This method is used whenever the end of the product is not accessible. The second method is to simply feed the end of the product into the unit as the rollers are rotating.
Inserting Product by Opening Unit
-
Connect a 1/2” drive drill with an adjustable clutch to the drive shaft.
-
Pull upward and release the latch. Note: The drill is not shown in some photos for clarity purposes.
-
Open the unit and insert the product into the unit (fiberglass rodder shown).
NOTICE
The product should be free of any dirt, mud, or debris to prevent long-term damage to the rollers or other internal working parts. -
Close and latch the unit (fiberglass rodder shown).
Note: This model will work with product diameters up to 1/2 inch (12 mm). -
If necessary, place the end of the product into the conduit and begin feeding it.
CAUTION
To prevent possible wrist injury, have a firm grip on the drill and the Zinger before feeding the product into the conduit. Larger diameters will create more twisting motion on the unit and therefore requires a firmer grip. -
Continue to feed product into conduit.
Note: As the length of inserted product increases, adjust the drill clutch to accommodate the increased force.
NOTICE
A product binding inside the conduit can cause product damage. Make sure
the product is continuously moving through the conduit and stop the drill
immediately if the product stops moving.
Inserting Product into a Closed Unit

Stop feeding the product when there is enough length to place the end into the conduit. -
Place the end of the product into the conduit and begin feeding it through the conduit.
