Electrical Safety

• The appliance must be plugged into its own dedicated 115V, 60Hz, AC-only electrical outlet. The power cord of the appliance is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for your protection against electrical shock hazards. It must be plugged directly into a properly grounded three-prong receptacle. The receptacle must be installed in accordance with local codes and ordinances. Consult a qualified electrician. Avoid connecting the refrigerator to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit. Do not use an extension cord or adapter plug.

Refrigerator parts

Setting up your refrigerator

WARNING

• Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
• Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

CAUTION: Flammable refrigerant used! When handing, moving, and using of your refrigerator, avoid damaging the refrigerant tubing, which may increase the risk of a leak.

Before using your refrigerator
Remove the exterior and interior packing.

WARNING: The foam pad above the compressor is only suitable for transport and must be removed before use.

• Let your refrigerator stand upright for approximately two hours before connecting it to power. This reduces the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from improper handling during transportation.
• Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water using a soft cloth. See “Cleaning your refrigerator” on page 11 for more information.

Finding a suitable location

• This refrigerator is designed to be free standing only, and should not be recessed or built-in.
• Place your refrigerator on a floor that is strong enough to support your refrigerator when it is fully loaded.
• Allow at least 3 in. (7.5 cm) of space between the wall and the back of your refrigerator, 4 in. (10 cm) at the sides and top, and a clear space at the front to open the doors. This allows for proper air ventilation.

WARNING: Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.

• Place your refrigerator away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, and so on). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Ambient temperature below 55° F (12.8° C) or above 110° F (43.3° C) will hinder the performance of your refrigerator. This refrigerator is not designed for use in a garage or any other outside installation.
• Avoid placing your refrigerator in wet or moist areas.

Leveling your refrigerator
It is very important for your refrigerator to be level in order to function properly. If your refrigerator is not leveled during installation, the doors may not close or seal properly, causing cooling, frost, or moisture problems. Also, if the ground is uneven, the door will rub against the ground.

Providing a proper power supply
Check your local power source. This refrigerator requires a 115V AC at 60Hz power supply.
Use a receptacle that accepts the grounding prong. The power cord is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard 3-prong (grounding) wall outlet to minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from this refrigerator.

Notes:

• Your refrigerator should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage rating that matches the rating plate.
• Never unplug your refrigerator by pulling on the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the outlet.

Setting the thermostat

Adjust the thermostat to set your refrigerator’s temperature from 32° to 50° F (0° to 10° C).

1. The first time you turn your refrigerator on, adjust the temperature setting to “Recommended” and let your refrigerator cool completely before putting food in. You can adjust it to a warmer or cooler setting, as needed.
2. Rotate the thermostat to adjust the temperature:
   • OFF: Turns your refrigerator off
   • Cold: Warmest temperature setting
   • Recommended: Moderate temperature – recommended
   • Coldest: Coldest temperature setting

Notes

• The recommended temperature setting is “Recommended.”
• Though your refrigerator is energy efficient, it is more efficient at lower temperature settings.
• Keep soda cans away from the refrigerator wall because the cans could freeze at the coldest temperature setting.
• If the thermostat is set to “Coldest” when the ambient temperature is high (such as on hot summer days), the compressor may run continuously. To properly defrost, the compressor needs to turn on and off periodically.
• Therefore, we advise you to set the refrigerator to a more moderate setting.

Reversing the door position
You can change the side that the door opens on from the right side (as shipped) to the left side.

You will need : An 8 mm (5/16”) socket driver, Phillips screwdriver, and a putty knife or flathead screwdriver

• Make sure that your refrigerator is unplugged and empty.
• Have someone available to assist you in the process.
• Keep all of the parts you remove to reuse them later.

1. Lay your refrigerator on its back to gain access to the base. You should rest your refrigerator on soft foam packaging or similar material to avoid damage to the cooling pipes on the back of your refrigerator.

2. Open your refrigerator door and remove all the shelves inside the door.

3. Remove the upper hinge cover with a putty knife or flathead screwdriver.

4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws that hold the upper hinge to the right side of the cabinet top.

5. Carefully lift the door off and place it on a padded surface to prevent scratches,

6. Remove the screw securing the door stopper on the right side of the door and (using the same screw) install the stopper on the left side of the door.

7. Remove the screw hole cover and push it firmly into the uncovered hole on the right side of your refrigerator.

8. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws that hold the lower hinge to the right side of the cabinet.

9. Remove the foot and transfer it to the right side of the cabinet.

10. Loosely secure the lower hinge, but do not fully tighten the bolts until the door is in the closed position and leveled. Make sure that the space between door and the refrigerator body is approximately 7/16 in. (11 mm).

11. Replace the door, making sure the pin enters the bushing at the lower frame hole.

12. Secure the upper hinge (removed in step 4) to the left side of your refrigerator. Make sure that the pin enters the hole on the upper frame.

13. Replace the upper hinge cover (removed in step 3).

14. Lift your refrigerator upright again.
    CAUTION : Let your refrigerator stand upright for approximately two hours before connecting it to power. This reduces the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system.

15. Open the door and attach all shelves.

Maintaining your refrigerator
Your refrigerator is designed for year-round use with only minimal cleaning and maintenance.
When you first receive it, wipe the case with a mild detergent and warm water, then wipe dry with a dry cloth. Do this periodically to keep your refrigerator looking new.

Cleaning your refrigerator
For hygienic reasons, the inside of your refrigerator and its accessories should be cleaned every two months.

WARNING: Danger of electric shock.

1. Turn off your refrigerator and unplug it from the wall outlet.

2. Remove all food and store in a cool place.

3. Wash your refrigerator’s interior and exterior with mild detergent and warm water, then wipe dry.
   WARNING : Flammable refrigerant used. Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.

4. Wipe the door gasket (seal) clean to keep the unit running efficiently.

5. Once a year, carefully clean the condenser on the back of your refrigerator with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris that increases energy usage.

6. Check the water drain hole on the back wall inside your refrigerator compartment. If it’s blocked, clear the drain hole with something like a pipe cleaner. Be careful not to damage the cabinet with sharp objects.

7. Dry the interior and exterior with a soft cloth.

8. Plug in the refrigerator’s power cord and turn it back on.

Caution

• Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
• Do not use gasoline, benzine, thinner, or other similar solvents.
• Ethereal oils and organic solvents can attack plastic parts, e.g. lemon juice or the juice from orange peel, butyric acid, and cleansers that contain acetic acid. Do not allow such substances to come into contact with appliance parts.
• Do not use razor blades or other sharp instruments, which can scratch the appliance surface when removing adhesive labels. Any glue left from the tape can be removed with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent, or touch the residue with the sticky side of tape already removed. Do not remove the serial plate.
• Do not clean your refrigerator with a steam cleaner. Moisture could accumulate in electrical components and hot vapors can damage plastic parts.

Defrosting your refrigerator
Turn the temperature control knob to “OFF”, then let the refrigerator defrost until there’s no moisture on the evaporator. The evaporator is a hole at the back of the refrigerator in the middle of the third shelf. See “Features” on page 5.

CAUTION: Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

Shutting down your refrigerator
To prepare your refrigerator for long term storage or a long vacation:

1. Turn off your refrigerator and unplug it from the wall outlet.
2. Remove all food.
3. Clean and dry your refrigerator.
4. Leave the door open slightly to avoid possible formation of condensation, mold, or odor.

WARNING: Use extreme caution with children. The unit should not be accessible to child’s play.

Moving your refrigerator

1. Turn off your refrigerator and unplug it from the wall outlet.
2. Remove all food.
3. Securely tape down all loose items inside your refrigerator.
4. Tape the doors shut. Make sure that your refrigerator stays in the upright position during transportation.

Tips on saving energy

• Do not open and close the door too often or leave the door open any longer than necessary.
• Do not set the temperature any colder than necessary.
• The illustration on page 5 shows the most energy efficient arrangement of shelves in your refrigerator. If you change this arrangement, you may sacrifice efficiency.
• Do not exceed the recommended storage period for your food.
• Locate your refrigerator in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances or heating ducts and out of the direct sunlight.
• Let hot foods cool before placing them in your refrigerator.
• Overloading your refrigerator forces the compressor to run longer. Foods that freeze too slowly may lose quality or spoil.
• Wrap foods properly and wipe containers dry before placing them in your refrigerator. This cuts down on frost build-up inside your refrigerator.
• Organize and label food to reduce door openings and extended searches.

Troubleshooting

Note: Minor malfunctions may be caused by a fault that you can rectify yourself, using the following instructions. Do not perform any other work on your refrigerator if this troubleshooting table does not fix the problem.

CAUTION: Do not try to repair your refrigerator yourself. Doing so invalidates the warranty. Repairs should only be performed by qualified service personnel. Improper repairs can result in significant hazards for the user. If your refrigerator requires repair, contact your dealer or your local service center.

that the thermostat knob is not set to “ 0 ”. If it is, change the setting to a higher number.
Your refrigerator is unplugged.| Make sure that your refrigerator is plugged in and that the plug is pushed completely into the outlet.
The fuse for the refrigerator circuit is blown or the breaker has tripped.| Make sure that the fuse is good or the circuit breaker is turned on.
Power failure.| If a power failure occurs, your refrigerator turns off. Wait until the power is restored.
The electrical outlet is defective.| Make sure that the electrical outlet is “live.” If not, have an electrician correct the problem.
Food in my refrigerator compartment is not cold.| The door has been opened too often or was not closed properly.| Make sure that the door is closed properly.
You have just added a large amount of food to your refrigerator.| Allow time for the new food to cool, then check again. Let hot foods cool before placing them inside your refrigerator.
The thermostat is set too warm.| Adjust the thermostat to a colder setting.
The door gasket does not seal properly.| Clean the gasket.
Your refrigerator has recently been disconnected for a period of time.| Allow up to four hours for your refrigerator to cool completely.

For this warranty to apply, your Product must be purchased in the United States or Canada from a Best Buy branded retail store or online at www.bestbuy.com or www.bestbuy.ca and is packaged with this warranty statement.

How long does the coverage last?
The Warranty Period lasts for 1 year (365 days) from the date you purchased the Product. Your purchase date is printed on the receipt you received with the Product.

What does this warranty cover?
During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the material or workmanship of the Product is determined to be defective by an authorized Insignia repair center or store personnel, Insignia will (at its sole option): (1) repair the Product with new or rebuilt parts; or (2) replace the Product at no charge with new or rebuilt comparable products or parts. Products and parts replaced under this warranty become the property of Insignia and are not returned to you. If service of Products or parts are required after the Warranty Period expires, you must pay all labor and parts charges. This warranty lasts as long as you own your Insignia Product during the Warranty Period. Warranty coverage terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer the Product.

How to obtain warranty service?
If you purchased the Product at a Best Buy retail store location or from a Best Buy online website (www.bestbuy.com or www.bestbuy.ca), please take your original receipt and the Product to any Best Buy store. Make sure that you place the Product in its original packaging or packaging that provides the same amount of protection as the original packaging.

Where is the warranty valid?

(Pixel based displays may contain a limited number of pixels that may not function normally.)
• Failures or Damage caused by any contact including but not limited to liquids, gels or pastes.
