Link+ Pro Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm
User Manual
Introduction
All X-Sense combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms conform with
regulatory requirements, including UL 217 and UL 2034 standards and are
designed to detect both smoke and carbon monoxide.
This alarm supports Link+ Pro. Please note the following:
- Only devices that are advertised as supporting Link’ Pro can be connected to the app via the base station.
- Link’ Pro supports both base station connection and a customizable wireless network as separate networks. You can only connect a device to one of them at a time. If you connect them to the base station, you’ll receive app notifications but lose the customizable wireless network. Choosing the customizable wireless network means disconnecting from the base station and losing app notifications. Wireless interconnection is supported regardless of your choice.
- This device can be interconnected with other Link’ series devices to create a customizable wireless network.
- Switching between the base station and a customizable wireless network is simple and can be done at any time by following the corresponding adding method.

Device Setup
Download the X-Sense Home Security App
Make sure your smartphone supports iOS 11 and higher, or Android 8.0 and higher.
To download the X-Sense Home Security App, scan the QR code or search for “X-Sense Home Security” in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Sign up with a valid email address. If you already have an account, make sure the app is updated to the latest version.
Before connecting devices, make sure that:
- You know your Wi-Fi network name and password.
- You are connecting your device using a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (incompatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi network).
- Make sure the Bluetooth on your phone is turned on.
NOTE : When the device is configured via Wi-Fi, make sure your mobile phone and devices are as close to the router as possible, which can speed up device configuration.
Connect the Link+ Pro Alarm to the Base Station
The Link’ Pro Alarm can be connected to the base station through the wireless
network. When the alarm is connected to the base station, you can receive push
notifications wherever you are to stay informed of the device status, and to
silence an alarm from your smartphone.
NOTE : Before adding devices to the system, make sure the base station has
been successfully added to the app.
- Tap ” ffi “, select “Combination Smoke and CO Alarms”, and then select “Link• Pro Combination Alarm with Voice Alerts (XP0A-MR)” in the product list. Then, choose the installation location that matches the actual placement of the device. After that, tap “Next” to enter the next page. Choose the precise installation location for the alarm within the app. When an alarm is triggered, it will broadcast this designated location. That is to say, when danger occurs, the alarm will say “Warning. Smoke detected in Location. Evacuate.” or 0 Warning. Carbon monoxide detected in Location. Move to fresh air.” When connected to the base station, all devices wirelessly interconnect. If one, like XP0A-MR, triggers, others relay the exact location. For example, if named “Basement,” “Kitchen,” and “Office,” when “Basement” detects smoke, all three announce “Warning! Smoke detected in Basement. Evacuate.”
- Follow the prompts on the page by pressing the test/silence button twice on the alarm. The device will say “Ready to connect” and the LED will fiash blue rapidly, indicating that the device is waiting to connect to the Wi-Fi.
- Tap “Next” to add the device. You will hear “Ready to add the device.”
- After successfully connected, the device will say “Connected.” and the “Device added” page will appear. Then you can find the alarm in the device list.
- If you want to add multiple devices into the system, please repeat the above steps.
NOTE : If not added to the network within 60 seconds, it says “Connection failed. Please try it again.” It automatically exits configuration; repeat steps for re-entry.
App Features
Notifications: You will receive push notifications on the app for smoke
alarms, danger cleared, low battery, device malfunction, end of life, etc.
Device Test: Simply tap the Device Test button in the app to test whether
the device is functioning properly.
Device Sharing: You can share the device with your family members and friends.
They will receive app push notifications for alarms and have the ability to
silence the device, view historical events, etc.
Interconnect the Alarms Without Adding to the Base Station
If you don’t want to add the alarms to the base station, you can connect the alarms using RF technology to create an interconnected alarm system. However, you will no longer be able to receive push notifications on your phone from the X-Sense Home Security app.
NOTE: The XPOA-MR alarms can be connected to the X-Sense Link’ Pro and
Link’ alarms using wireless interconnection without being connected to the
base station.
Powering On Before Setting the Location
For initial use, remove the battery insulation film to power on. The device
says “Hello from X-Sense” and prompts location selection. After battery
replacement with a set location, it says “Press the Test/Silence button to
test.” During the voice report, pressing the test/silence button won’t prompt
a response.
Setting the Location
Please follow the steps below to set the device location so that it is
accurate to the actual installation location.
When danger occurs, the alarm will say “Warning! Smoke detected in location.
Evacuate.” or “Warning! Carbon monoxide detected in location. Move to fresh
air:’
In an interlinked network, when one XP0A-MR is triggered, all devices report
the same location. For instance, if device A in the basement is triggered,
devices B and C, set to kitchen and office, will also announce “Warning! Smoke
detected in Basement. Evacuate.
- After powering on, press the Location button. If not set, it prompts to select a location; otherwise, it offers to change it.
- Press Location again, and it guides through locations. Quickly press twice for the last location; hold to save.
- After step 2, press Location again. The device will say “Entryway.”
- In the location list, press for the next location, press twice for the last, and hold to save.
- The location list repeats; press when it says “No location” to hear “Entryway” again.
- When saved, it says “Location saved.”
- There’s a 1-minute timeout for setting; it exits to standby mode, saying “Unable to set the location. Please try again.”
For devices connected to the base station:
- Regardless of whether the device has been connected to the network, you can set and modify the location through the location button on the back of the device.
- If the device, not yet added to the base station, is set the location using the location button, when added to the app, the location set in the app will override the device-side location.
- If you’ve already added the device to the app and then change its location using the location button, the app will update to show the new location.
- When you add the device to the app, you have the option to set its location. Once the adding process is finished, you can also change the device’s location if needed.

How to Set Up and Interconnect Wireless Alarms
X-Sense alarms can connect wirelessly to form a network. When one alarm goes
off, all others do too. These alarms include smoke, carbon monoxide, and
combined detectors. They only link with other X-Sense alarms, not different
brands. If you bought a multi-pack without a base station, they’re already
linked. Otherwise, connect each device one by one. For multiple packs, pick
one as the base and link the others to it.
NOTE: The following instructions regarding wireless interconnection are
applicable to the X-Sense Link’ Pro and Link’ wireless interlinked alarms
only.
How to Interconnect
- Work with only two units at a time, ensuring they are both turned on for successful connection.
- Press the test/silence button on one unit four times; it will enter pairing mode. Press the other unit’s button twice; it will be ready to connect.
- Upon successful search and group creation, both units will confirm connection, beep once, and exit pairing mode.
- To add a third alarm, repeat step 2 with any of the connected units and the new device.
- For additional units, repeat step 4. NOTE: For XH02-M, use the pairing button on the back, not the front test/silence button.
- Test alarms following the steps in the “Alarm Test” section.
NOTES
- The alarm enters 60-second searching/pairing mode with a flashing red LED. Repeat step 2 after 60 seconds for connection. Press Test/Silence once to exit pairing mode and return to normal status.
- Test all wireless alarms for interconnection before installation.
- Maximum 24 wireless alarms can interconnect on the same network.
- interconnect only with the same model or other X-Sense link’ Pro and link• wireless alarms.
How to Disconnect
Quickly press Test/Silence button 4 times to initiate search. Hold until it
says “Disconnected, standalone device now” and beeps to disconnect. Afterward,
reconnect to the same or a new network.
NOTE: For multi-packs without a base station, they’re pre-linked; disconnect each alarm individually to form a new network.

NOTE
- The devices connected to the base station can only be tested individually. The interconnected devices that are not connected to the base station can be tested by holding down the test/silence button on one of the devices.
- Pressing the Test/Silence button is the recommended testing method, which can comprehensively check the sensors, electronic circuits, buzzer, battery, and other components in the alarm. Never use an open flame to test this device.
Installation Positioning
NOTE : Before installation, it is recommended to test the interconnected alarms in the rooms where you intend to install them to ensure that they are within transmission range and that nothing will interfere with their communication.
Installation Locations
- Prioritize the installation of an alarm in the bedroom and walkways, and make sure you can hear the alarm from all sleeping areas. In a home with several bedrooms, install an alarm in every bedroom. If you install only one smoke alarm in your home, install the alarm near to all bedrooms where possible, and not in a basement or furnace room.
- Install an alarm above the stairway and on every fioor of the house.
- Smoke, heat and anything burning will spread horizontally after rising to the ceiling, so install the alarm in the middle of the ceiling where possible. Ensure the alarm is within working distance of all corners of the room.
- If an alarm cannot be installed in the middle of a ceiling, install at a distance of 20 inches (50 cm) away from the corners of the room.
- If an alarm is installed on a wall, it should be at a distance of 4-12 inches (10-30 cm) below the ceiling.
- If the length of a room or hall is beyond 30 feet (900 cm), you will need to install several alarms in the same room.
- When the wall or ceiling is angled, the alarm needs to be installed within 3 feet (90 cm) of the highest wall or ceiling point (measured horizontally) in the room.
- In multi-level houses or apartments, install at least one wireless alarm on each level and keep them installed in a straight vertical line (see diagram) with as few obstacles between each of the interconnected alarms as possible to ensure optimal signal transmission.
Locations to Avoid:
- Near large metal surfaces and/or bundles of wire.
- Near fiuorescent lights, amateur radios, electrical equipment, or other devices that may transmit an RF signal, as electronic noise may cause nuisance alarms.
Recommended Placement
WARNING
- THIS ALARM SHOULD BE INSTALLED BY A COMPETENT PERSON.
- INSTALLATION OF THE ALARM SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROPER INSTALLATION, USE AND MAINTENANCE OF FUEL BURNING APPLIANCES INCLUDING APPROPRIATE VENTILATION AND EXHAUST SYSTEMS.
How to Install This Alarm
IMPORTANT
THIS COMBINATION SMOKE/CO ALARM IS DESIGNED TO BE MOUNTED ON THE CEILING OR
WALL.
WARNING
FAILURE TO PROPERLY INSTALL AND AITIVATE THIS ALARM WILL PREVENT PROPER
OPERATION OF THE ALARM AND WILL PREVENT ITS RESPONSE TO FIRE HAZARDS OR CO.
Locations to Avoid
WARNING: This product is intended for use in ordinary indoor locations of
family living units. It is not designed to measure CO levels in compliance
with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) commercial or
industrial standards.
- Do not install in garages, kitchens, furnace rooms or bathrooms! Do not install within S ft (1.5 m) of cooking appliances.
- Do not install within 3 ft (0.9 m) of the following: The door to a kitchen, or a bathroom that contains a tub or shower, forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air fiow areas. Avoid excessively dusty, dirty or greasy areas. Dust, grease or household chemicals can contaminate the alarm’s sensors, causing the alarm to not operate properly.
- Place the alarm where drapes or other objects will not block the sensors. Smoke and CO must be able to reach the sensors to accurately detect these conditions. Do not install in peaks of vaulted ceilings, “A” frame ceilings or gabled roofs. Keep out of damp and humid areas.
- Install at least one (1) foot away from fiuorescent lights, as electronic noise may cause nuisance alarms.
- Do not place in direct sunlight and keep out of insect-infested areas. Extreme temperatures will affect the sensitivity of the smoke/CO alarm.
- Do not install in areas where the temperature is colder than 40’F (4.4’C) or hotter than 1 OO’F (37.S’C), such as garages and unfinished attics.
- Do not install in areas where the relative humidity (RH) is above 85% or below 10%. Place away from doors and windows that open to the outside.
- Smoke alarms are not to be used with detector guards unless the combination (alarm and guard) has been evaluated and found suitable for that purpose.
Mounting Steps
NOTE: Before installation, it is recommended to test the interconnected alarms in the rooms where you intend to install them to ensure they are within transmission range and that nothing will interfere with their communication.
- Drill three 0 6.0 mm holes in the wall or ceiling, then insert three plastic anchor plugs into the holes with a hammer.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the surface of the wall or ceiling with three screws and mount the alarm into the bracket by pushing them together and twisting the unit clockwise.
- Test the unit by using the Test/Silence button. Ensure the unit sounds in an alarm pattern.
Peak CO Concentration Memory and Reset
The peak CO concentration feature is helpful in identifying if there have been
any dangerous CO readings since a peak CO concentration reset.
Each time you push the test button, the LCD displays the peak CO concentration
recorded since the previous reset. The peak CO concentration will be displayed
for 5 seconds, and then the device will enter standby mode. In the example,
300 ppm was the maximum CO concentration recorded since the unit was last
reset.
Peak CO Concentration Reset: During the 5 seconds when the LCD displays the
peak CO concentration, press and hold the test button for 3 seconds, the
device will beep, the LED will fiash green, and the peak CO concentration will
be reset with LCD displaying “0.”
NOTE
- If the carbon monoxide concentration is lower than 30 ppm, it will not be recorded in the peak CO concentration.
- The peak CO record and reset function are only supported on the device itself and are not controllable through the app.
Alarm Mode
For devices connected to the base station:
- Triggered alarms show in-app messages and push notifications.
- All system-connected devices and the base station sound alarms together.
- Base station auto-mutes after 10 minutes but system devices continue.
- If the base station powers off, interconnected devices still alarm.
- Adjust base station volume and mute alarms through the app. Receive push notification if smoke or CO levels drops below alarm threshold.
- If one XP0A-MR alarm detects smoke, it beeps 3 times every 4 seconds with a red fiashing LED. Other units follow, beeping and fiashing red/green.
- If one CO alarm detects carbon monoxide, it beeps 4 times every 5.8 seconds with a red fiashing LED. Other units follow, beeping and fiashing red/green.

NOTES
- Triggering one unit activates others; smoke alarm takes priority over CO alarm.
- If the initiating alarm has location support, others provide location information; otherwise, location-support alarms relay voice alerts without specifying location.
- The alarm extends the wireless network for wide detection coverage with a relay function.
Silence Mode
Silence the device by pressing the test/silence button or using the app.
During an alarm, pressing it triggers a voice confirmation, sends a push
notification, and enters silence mode for 9 minutes. Afterward, the LED
fiashes green 3 times, and the device returns to normal rnode.
NOTE : If the smoke concentration is too high, the device cannot be
silenced.
Connected to Base Station:
- Press base station Silence or app button to silence passive devices, then test/silence on the initiating alarm.
- Use the app Locate to find the initiating alarm; others stop alarming.
Not Connected to Base Station:
- Press test/silence on one device to silence passives; silencing the initiator silences all.
- Initiating alarm reports “Smoke/CO alarm silenced,” others don’t.
NOTES
- Silence all interconnected units by pressing Test/Silence on one unit. If any unit continues alarming, the initiating unit must also have its Test/Silence button pressed.
- During the 9-minute silence, the initiating unit can’t trigger again, but other units can if danger is detected.
Battery Replacement
Low Battery
The LED fiashes yellow once every 60 seconds. For the first 15 minutes, the
device will give a verbal warning every 60 seconds. After 15 minutes, the
device will stop the voice alert and beep once every 60 seconds. (If you press
the test button when there is low battery, the low battery signal will
temporarily cease for 10 hours.)
Replacing Battery
- To replace the battery, detach the smoke alarm from the mounting bracket by twisting counterclockwise.
- Remove the battery, and then install a new battery, matching the correct polarity markings.
- Test the alarm, and then mount the alarm onto the mounting bracket by twisting clockwise to lock the alarm.
End of Life
When the device reaches its end of life, the LED will fiash yellow 3 times
every 60 seconds. For the first 15 minutes, the device will give a verbal
warning. After 15 minutes, the device will stop the voice alert and beep 3
times every 60 seconds. This end-of-life signal can be temporarily silenced
for 22 hours by pressing the test button.
The end-of-life silence feature can only be used for a total of 30 days. After
30 days, the end-of-life signal cannot be silenced.

NOTE:
- Battery life is calculated on the current ratings in the standby mode with weekly testings. If its operation mode changes to an alarming condition, the battery life will be decreased accordingly.
- The alarm functions between 40and I00°F (4.4 and 37.8°C). Prolonged exposure to temperatures outside of this range can reduce battery life and affect accuracy. We do not recommend operating the device outside of this range.
Maintenance
To keep your alarm in good working order, follow these simple steps:
- Verify the unit’s alarm sound and indicator are working properly by testing the unit once a week.
- As a minimum your alarm should be cleaned once every 3 months: Remove the unit from the ceiling and clean the alarm cover and vents with your vacuum cleaner fitted with the soft brush attachment to remove dust and dirt.
- Never use detergents or other solvents to clean the unit.
- Avoid spraying air fresheners, hair spray or other aerosols near the alarm.
- Do not paint the unit. Paint will seal the vents and interfere with the sensor’s ability to detect fire or CO.
- Never attempt to disassemble the unit or clean inside. Doing so will void your warranty.
- When removed, place the alarm back in its proper location as soon as possible, to assure continuous protection from fire or carbon monoxide.
- When household cleaning supplies or similar contaminants are used, the area should be ventilated.
Troubleshooting
Problems| |

The device is not triggered when it is tested with smoke.| The device is not
turned on.| Make sure the battery-insulating film is removed. If the battery

The smoke is not reaching the sensor properly.| The smoke needs to enter the smoke sensor from the air inlets on the
side to trigger the device.
The time duration is insufficient for the device to detect smoke.| Continuous
smoke is necessary for the device to be triggered. When smoke reaches the
smoke sensor, the device will be triggered in about 20 seconds.
Insufficient smoke concentration.| This product utilizes a photoelectric
sensor, requiring sufficient smoke concentration for detection. Higher smoke
levels lead to faster alarm response. Avoid using an open flame for testing.
The alarm does not sound during a test.| The device does not turn on.| Remove
the battery insulating film from the battery compartment to turn on the
device. If the battery runs out. please replace the battery.
You don’t push the Test/Silence button firmly.| Make sure you have pushed the
Test/Silence button firmly.
When the test button is held down, only one alarm sounds and the other
interconnected alarms do not respond.| |
- When connected to a base station, holding down the test button only tests a single device.
- When connected to a wireless interconnected network, holding down the test button will test all devices in the network.
- When exited from the wireless interconnected network, holding down
- the test button only tests a single device.
- A short press on the test button will always test a single device.
It is unclear how to judge which alarm is triggered first.| Connecting to the
base station.| View through the app; only the initiating alarm will be
displayed as being triggered, and the other alarms will not.
Press the app’s Locate button in alarming mode to mute the base station and
all passive devices, leaving only the initiating device alarming.
In the alarming mode, press the test/silence button on any of the devices. If
all other alarms are muted, the device you pressed is the source alarm, if
not, then the source alarm is the one you will hear continuing to alarm. You
need to press the test/silence button to silence the initiating alarm.
Pressing the base station button can mute the base station and all devices.
The initiating alarm flashes red, and the other alarms alternate flashing red
and green.
| Wireless interconnected network.| In the alarming mode, press the
test/silence button on any of the devices. If all other alarms are muted, the
device you pressed is the source alarm, if not, then the source alarm is the
one you will hear continuing to alarm. You need to press the test/silence
button to silence the initiating alarm.

What You Need to Know About CO
CO cannot be seen, smelled or tasted and can be fatal. The build-up of CO in the blood is called the carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) level and interferes with the body’s ability to supply itself with oxygen. Depending on the concentration, CO can kill in minutes. The most common sources of CO are malfunctioning gas appliance used for heating and cooking, vehicles running in an attached garage, blocked chimneys or fiues, portable fuel burning heaters, fireplaces, fuel powered tools and operating a grill in an enclosed space.
Indications of carbon monoxide poisoning include symptoms similar to the fiu, but with no fever. Other symptoms include dizziness, fatigue, weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting, sleepiness and confusion.
Everyone is susceptible to the danger of CO, but experts agree that unborn babies, small children, pregnant women, senior citizens and people with heart or respiratory problems are at the highest risk for serious injury or death. Every year a qualified technician should inspect and clean your heating system, vents, chimney, and fiues.
The following symptoms are related to carbon monoxide poisoning and should be discussed with all members of the household:
- Mild exposure: Slight headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue (often described as “fiu-like” symptoms).
- Medium exposure: Severe throbbing headache, drowsiness, fast heart rate.
- Extreme exposure : Unconsciousness, cardiorespiratory failure, death. The above levels of exposure relate to healthy adults. Levels differ for those at high risk. Exposure to high levels of carbon monoxide can be fatal or cause permanent damage and disabilities.
Many cases of reported carbon monoxide poisoning indicate that while victims are aware they are not well, they become so disoriented they are unable to save themselves by either exiting the building or calling for assistance. Also, young children and household pets may be the first affected. Familiarization with the effects of each level is important.
Following Conditions Can Result in Transient CO Situations:
- Excessive spillage or reverse venting of fuel-burning appliances caused by outdoor ambient conditions, such as wind direction and/or velocity, including high gusts of wind, heavy air in the vent pipes (cold/humid air with extended periods between cycles).
- Negative pressure resulting from the use of exhaust fans.
- Simultaneous operation of several fuel-burning appliances competing for limited internal air.
- Vent pipe connections vibrate loose from clothes dryers, furnaces, or water heaters.
- Obstructions in, or unconventional, vent pipe designs which can amplify the above situations.
- Extended operation of unvented fuel-burning devices (range, oven, fireplace, etc.).
- Temperature inversions which can trap exhaust gases near the ground.
- A car idling in an open or closed attached garage, or near a home.
