6 CARE AND MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Inspect stretcher before each use. Ensure that all hardware and
accessories are secure. Failure to do so could result in patient / attendant
injury or damage to the stretcher.
WARNING: Service and repair of the Gendron 1000MR MRI Transport and Transfer
Stretcher MUST be performed by qualified personnel ONLY.
WARNING: Unauthorized modification of the stretcher or the use of non-Gendron
replacement parts may change the structure of the Stretcher and could create a

INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE Proper care and maintenance are essential to
keeping your Gendron 1000MR MRI Transport and Transfer Stretcher in a safe
operating condition. In addition to inspecting the unit before each use,
periodic maintenance checks should be done as listed below.
Brakes Due to normal wear of the tires, the brakes should be checked
periodically. When properly adjusted and locked, the casters will not rotate
when the stretcher is loaded. The brakes may be adjusted by turning the large
plastic nut on the underside of the fork.
Caster Lubrication Under normal usage, the factory lubrication of the casters
will last many years. When overhauling the stretcher, the caster wheel
bearings should be replaced.
Before Initial Use · Do a careful walk-around inspection of the stretcher.
Look underneath the stretcher to ensure
there is nothing stored there. · Lock the casters. · Position the side rails;
ensure they slide up and down properly. · When you are satisfied that the
stretcher is operating properly, instruct all personnel who may
be involved in the stretcher’s operation.
At Least Once a Month · Inspect for wear · Ensure all parts and fasteners are
secure · Replace any worn parts immediately
At Least Once a Year · Check all bolts to ensure that all are securely
fastened. · Ensure all pins are in their locked position and are securely
fastened. · Check all welds to ensure good condition. · Lubricate all pivot
points with FDA approved grease or dry Teflon lubricant. · Check all casters
for proper operation.
WARNING: If problems are found, immediately contact GF Technical Support at
1.770.368.4700, as a potentially hazardous condition could exist. Any
discrepancies noted during inspection must be corrected before using the
stretcher.

CLEANING
s NOTICE: Before using any cleaning product, test it on the underside of the
stretcher. Never use any volatile or flammable fluid (thinner, gasoline, etc.)
that could cause discoloration or deterioration.
s NOTICE: DO NOT pressure wash or steam clean Stretcher.
Stainless Steel Surfaces Stainless steel is most effectively corrosion
resistant when kept clean. Wipe stainless steel surfaces frequently with a
soft damp cloth. To remove dried deposits, use hot water and a mild detergent
applied with a stiff fiber brush. For stubborn deposits, use only stainless
steel wool or a stiff plastic (not metal) abrasive pad of the finest texture,
rubbing as gently as possible. Always rub in the direction of the finish grain
of the metal.
Rubber and Vinyl Surfaces
The vinyl bumper and tires may be cleaned periodically with warm water and a
mild detergent using a soft, clean cloth.
The stretcher pad cover is resistant to most medicinal-type stains, but may be
damaged by solvents and dyes. For regular maintenance and care, clean with
warm water and a mild detergent, using a soft cloth.
