MEGA ARM OPERATORS » SOLAR POWER
Our Mega Arm operators will work with solar power. Getting the right solar
panels and battery combination will depend on the frequency of operation and
the location. What will be required are solar panel(s), larger (Ah) batteries
and a 24Vac charge regulator. We recommend contacting a local solar company to
help you determine what equipment you will need.
NOTES
· Remember that the power transformer on any LiftMaster Mega Arm operator can
be switched from 120Vac to 220Vac input by adjusting the wires on the primary
side of the transformer. Make sure you do this with the power off, and for
solar, you will want the 24Vdc setting. Mega Arm operator connections and
wiring for solar panels to operator
· Add extra capacity to the solar panels if DC accessories (ie: loop
detectors, radio controls, etc) are attached to the operator board.
· WARNING: Please consult with our technical department at
800-528-2806 for proper instructions
before converting an operator from the factory set 120Vac to 220Vac or 24Vdc
solar power.
· Stand-by current: 150-190mA · Running Current: 4-5A · It is recommended to
use larger batteries than the 7Ah batteries that are standard on the operator.
The two required solar panels
should be large enough to provide continuous charge for the batteries. The
solar panels should be 12-20vdc each, to output 24-40vdc in total. The charge
regulator should be set at 27.5vac.
