KLEIN TOOLS 60821 Hard Hat Turbo Cooling Fan
The 60821/60822 Hard Hat Turbo Cooling Fan is designed to fit on the brim of most hard hats and safety helmets, but can also be used with the included dual-mount strap and mounting bracket for shells without a brim. The included Hinged Adapter Bracket mounts directly to the front and back accessory mounts on Klein Tools hard hats and safety helmets, as well as the dual Mount Strap for hard hats without mounts. The fan is powered by a separate Modular Battery (Cat. No. 29025, see battery instruction sheet for features & specifications).

For use with Klein Tools batteries ONLY.

Before each use, inspect components for damage. Secure and keep any loose hair away from the fan.

DO NOT use a damaged or modified battery. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.

Risk of fire and burns. DO NOT open, crush, heat above specified maximum temperature or incinerate. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can result in elevated temperatures.

DO NOT immerse in water or other liquids

Properly seal the USB port cover to achieve specified water & foreign object ingress protection. Keep seal free of dirt, oil, sand, or other material that interferes with proper sealing. Failure to do so
can result in risk of fire or electric shock. -
DO NOT open the USB port cover if wet or in a wet environment. Thoroughly dry the unit and the seal around water-resistant cover completely before opening water resistant cover.

DO NOT subject to vibration, impacts, or drops greater than 6.6′ (2m). The housing may not show signs of damage, but internal components may have been compromised. It is advisable to replace the unit if any such severe events occur.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

DO NOT attempt to repair the battery, fans, or charging cable. There are no user-serviceable parts.

INSTALLATION
Inspect and familiarize yourself with the components that need to be assembled
onto the hard hat or safety helmet, then follow the instructions below to
install and use the fan. DO NOT try to rework or substitute missing or damaged
components.
NOTE : It is highly recommended that a chinstrap be used, even for hard
hat models that do not include one, especially on jobs at-height or requiring
constant head motion. An optional Klein Tools Chinstrap for Klein Tools hard
hats ONLY is available (Cat. No. KHHSTRP). A chinstrap is included with Klein
Tools Safety Helmets. Use the appropriate chinstrap for any other brand.
KLEIN FULL-BRIM & REVERSED-DONED CAPSTYLE HARD HATS
- Slide the Spring Bracket/Brim Clip 2 onto the hard hat brim (FIG. B).
- Attach the Modular Battery 10 to the hard hat’s accessory mount (FIG. B).
- Attach the Integrated USB-C Power Cable 3 USB-C Input/Output Port on the battery (FIG. H).
- To prevent the cable from snagging, use the Cable Management Clip 6 to attach the to the brim or wall of the hard hat (FIG. I).
- Adjust vent for desired direction of airflow (FIG. J). The fan is now ready to be used (FIG. C).
KLEIN CAP STYLE (BRIM IN FRONT) AND SAFETY HELMETS
- Attach the Spring Bracket/Brim Clip 2 of the fan onto the Hinged Adapter Bracket 8, then install assembly into the shell’s rear accessory mount (FIG. D).
- Install Modular Battery 10 into the opposite accessory mount (FIG. D).
- Attach the Integrated USB-C Power Cable 3 USB-C Input/Output Port on the battery (FIG. H).
- To prevent the cable from snagging, use the Cable Management Clip 6 to attach the to the brim or wall of the hard hat (FIG. I).
- Adjust vent for desired direction of airflow (FIG. J).
- Flip the fan into thedown position (FIG. E). The fan is now ready to be used (FIG. E).
HARD HATS AND SAFETY HELMETS WITHOUT KLEIN MOUNTS

Install the Adjustable Silicone Strap 11 onto the shell, ensuring that the Klein Mount Brackets 7 are centered on the front and back of the shell. Adjust strap as necessary to achieve a secure fit (FIG. F).

Install Modular Battery 10 into the appropriate Klein Mount Adapter Bracket 7 (FIG. F).

To install fan:
FULL-BRIM HARD HATS: Slide the Spring Bracket/Brim Clip 2 onto the hard hat brim (FIG. B).
SAFETY HELMETS OR CAP STYLE HARD HATS:
Attach the Spring Bracket/Brim Clip 2 of the fan onto the Hinged Adapter Bracket 8, then install into the appropriate Klein Mount Adapter Bracket 7 (FIG. F). -
Attach the Integrated USB-C Power Cable 3 USB-C Input/Output Port on the battery (FIG. H).

To prevent the cable from snagging, use the Cable Management Clip 6 to attach the to the brim or wall of the hard hat (FIG. I).

Adjust vent for desired direction of airflow (FIG. J).

Flip the fan into thedown position (FIG. G). The fan is now ready to be used (FIG. G).
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The power / Mode Button 1 cycles through Turbo Mode, High Mode, Low Mode, and Off:
- Power-on the fan by single-pressing the Power / Mode Button 1 . The fan defaults to Turbo Mode upon powering on. Single-press the Power / Mode Button 1 repeatedly to cycle through the modes and/ or power-off the fan.
- Adjust the direction of the airflow by positioning the Adjustable Vent 5 downward to push air up into the shell, or upward to push air down towards the neck area (FIG. J).
NOTE : It could take 10-15 seconds (or more) to feel effects of proper air circulation, especially in a very hot environment.
NOTE : To install second fan, follow the same instructions, connecting the second fan to the battery’s unused USB port. The fans will operate independently per the OPERATION section above (FIG. H).
NOISE LEVELS
The fans emit noise below 85db while in use. Klein Tools recommends wearing
earplugs if you experience discomfort.
CLEANING
Prior to cleaning, be sure fan is disconnected from the battery. Use clean, dry, soft lint-free cloth to wipe down. If any debris is stuck in the fan blades or vents, gently free any objects using a blunt wooden pick. DO NOT use harsh cleaning chemicals, sharp metal picks, abrasive brushes, and/or pressurized air to dislodge stuck debris from the fan blades. The debris may become dislodged inside the fans and permanently damage the fan and electronics. Wipe down the cables with soft, clean, dry cloth. Inspect for tears, cuts, cracks, corrosion, bent connectors, discoloration and other such damage. DO NOT attempt to repair.
STORAGE
NOTE : It is highly recommended to remove the fan(s) and battery from the hard hat or safety helmet prior to placing in storage.
DAILY STORAGE:
To reduce potential for damage to the fan(s) if storing while still attached
to a hard hat, flip the fan(s) upward into the storage position, and store
hard hat on a flat, clean surface (FIG. H).
LONG-TERM STORAGE:
Be sure battery and fan(s) are disconnected from one another and any other
power sources or devices. Store components in a cool, dry place away from
direct sunlight when not in use. After taking out of storage,visually inspect
fan, battery and all accessories for any damage. Replace any damaged parts as
needed. It is recommended to clean each component prior to use (See CLEANING
section above). Allow all components to return to ambient conditions before
recharging battery and/or operating.
