Congratulations on your new
ScripTalk Station 3! This Quick Start Guide will help you get started on your way to safety, privacy and independence in managing your prescription medications.

The Buttons

Three buttons allow you to operate the reader and access the information on your prescription labels.

About the Electronic Label

  • The talking label may  be found on the bottom or the side of your bottle or container. 
  • Due to packaging or medicine content, your label may be attached as an annex tag.
  • To access the electronic label, lift it away from the package when scanning.

Battery Level

  • The device will report the battery level during start-up when below 20% charge.
  • To check the battery level at any time, unplug the device and turn it on.
  • Let the device fully start up. Press all three buttons (PREV, READ and NEXT). Among other information spoken,  the device will report the current  charge level of the battery.

Recharging the Battery

Plug the charge adapter into a wall outlet, then plug the USB-C cable into the port on the  left side of your Scrip Talk.

When charging is complete,  your ScripTalk will let you know
“Battery Charging Completed.” Max charge should take no more than 5-6 hours from a fully depleted level.

Power and Volume Control

Turn the thumbwheel switch clockwise to power on the unit.
To adjust the volume, turn the thumbwheel.
To shut off the unit, turn the thumbwheel counter-clockwise until you hear a click.

On-Board Help
To listen to the instructions on how to use the unit, press and hold READ for about three seconds. To stop the instructions, press READ again.

Press PREV or NEXT to move through the different topics.

Reading a Prescription Label

  • To scan, press READ. You will hear beeping.
  • Place your label on the top of the reader.
  • Listen to the label information.
  • To stop the speaking, press READ.

Scrolling Through the Information
While the unit is speaking the label information, you can press PREV or NEXT to move through the information or to repeat an item.

Troubleshooting

Place your prescriptions on the reader individually. The unit can only read one label at a time.
If the unit cannot find or read a label, it will give you a warning. Have a sighted friend or a family member read the label for you, and talk to your pharmacist to see about a new label.

Changing the Voice Speed

To change the voice speed, press and hold PREV or NEXT for three seconds, then press PREV or NEXT to find the speed you like. Press READ to set the speed.

Spell Mode
You can have the information spelled  out if you don’t understand a word. Select the slowest setting in voice speed.
It will say “Spell Mode.” Press READ to select, then scan your label.
Reset voice speed to exit.
