USING INSTRUCTION

  1. Disassemble your Freedom Chair. If you installed any accessories, please remove them from your chair.

  2. Use an Allen key to loosen the headset (the pieces that secure the front fork to the boom of the chair). Remove the headset bolt. Slide the fork out of the boom of the chair. Place the headset pieces in a small bag and set the bag and the front wheel/fork aside for now.

  3. Place the cardboard bottom pad into the large box. Place this piece on the end of the box farthest from the hand-holes. HandGRIT-SPARTAN-Freedom-Chair-fig-3

  4. Place the folding cardboard insert on top of the bottom pad.

  5. Place your footplate in the box as shown above. Put the small footplate clamp—the clamp that held the footplate onto the chair when it was fully assembled—aside for now (you’ll reattach it in a later step).

  6. Place the chair frame and seat on top of the folding cardboard insert. The boom of the chair should point toward the end of the box with the handholes. Then, push the footplate receiver tube through the hole in the folding cardboard insert.

  7. Reattach the circular footplate clamp to the footplate receiver tube. If your footplate clamp tightens via lever, like the one shown above, tighten the lever. If your footplate clamp is tightened via an Allen key, tighten the clamp so that it is secure on the footplate receiver tube

  8. Fold and place the first triangular insert over the footplate, as shown above. At the bottom of the folded insert, there are slots into which the footplate can slide.

  9. Fold and place the second triangular insert on the other side of the Freedom Chair boom, as shown above.

  10. Wrap your front wheel and fork in paper dunnage. Leave the fork and front wheel connected. If you don’t have the original paper dunnage, feel free to use your own

  11. Insert the stem/tube of the wrapped-up front fork into the second triangular insert. There is a hole in the centre of the cardboard into which this stem/tube inserts.

  12. Feed a zip-tie through the first triangular insert, under the boom, through the second triangular insert, and back. This zip tie helps prevent the chair from moving around in the box. Add paper or foam dunnage in front of the boom.

  13. Insert the cardboard tube into the seat pan.

  14. Place your cushion onto the seat, over the cardboard tube. Match the Velcro on the cushion to the Velcro on the seat pan.

  15. Secure the rear-wheel axles to the levers with rubber bands. Use two rubber bands per axle to make sure they stay secure during return shipping.

  16. Slide your levers and axles into the plastic sleeves. Then, slide one plastic sleeve into each side of the lever-holding cardboard insert.

  17. Place the lever-holding cardboard insert across the seat cushion, as shown above.

  18. Place the seatback over and perpendicular to the boom of the chair, placing the backrest pad into the cutout of the folded cardboard insert. If you have other accessories, slide them into the open areas in the box, like the Trail Handles protected by bubble wrap shown above

  19. Place the lid onto the box.

  20. Secure the three straps to the Freedom Chair box. Cover or remove any old shipping labels and place the return shipping label onto the box.GRIT-SPARTAN-Freedom-Chair-fig-19

  21. Place the wheels into the wheel box, with their silver couplings facing inward. Slide another piece of cardboard between the two wheels to prevent the wheels from knocking against each other. Secure this box with packing tape. Cover or remove any old shipping labels and place the return shipping label onto the box.
IMPORTANT : use all three straps to seal the box. Tighten the straps so that they snugly wrap the box. Cut off any extra strap with some scissors. If you don’t use all three straps, we can’t guarantee you a full refund, since the box and contents will likely arrive to us damaged.

  22. Drop the boxes off at any UPS Store. Either bring the boxes to a UPS store or ask GRIT to schedule a UPS pickup! You’ll have up to two weeks to ship the chair back to us at GRIT. If GRIT schedules a pickup for you, we will deduct the $15 UPS fee from your eventual refund

  23. Return Review & Refund! When your Freedom Chair makes it back to GRIT, our production team will inspect it for excessive damage and will also make sure all ordered parts are included in the return. After inspection, you will be credited in full, less the cost of shipping from and to GRIT. If any components are missing, their cost will be deducted from the refund. Note: Freedom Chair Pro and GRIT Junior returns do have a 15% restocking fee, as these chairs are custom-built for each rider. Fees for custom parts, rush fees, shipping, duties, taxes, and other service fees are also non-refundable. Refunds are typically processed within 5 business days.
