FDC10 Fondue Machine

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE AND KEEP THEM FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
WARNINGS

  • This appliance is intended to be used exclusively in domestic and similar applications, such as:
    – in kitchen areas for staff in shops, offices and other professional environments;
    – in farms;
    – for use by the clientele of hotels, motels and other residential environments;
    – in bed and breakfast type environments.

  • A damaged cord must only be replaced by the manufacturer, its authorised after-sales service or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

  • This appliance is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separately purchased remote control.

  • Refer to the section “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 4 of the manual for details on cleaning surfaces in contact with food.

  • The external surface of this appliance may become very hot while the appliance is switched on.

  • The surfaces of this appliance may become very hot while it is switched on.

  • The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high while the appliance is switched on for 1s.

  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Hold the appliance by the handles to move it.

  • Do not use this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric hob and do not let it come into contact with a hot oven or mm1 oven.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by children aged between 0 and 8 years. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they are continuously supervised. This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Keep this appliance and its cord out of the reach of children under 8 years. Never let children play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children.

  • Cooking appliances should be placed in a stable environment with any handles positioned to prevent hot liquids from spilling.

  • This appliance must not be submerged.

  • Only use this appliance with the supplied base.

  • CAUTION: Ensure that the appliance is switched off before removing it from the base.

  • WARNING: Risk of injury if this appliance is not used correctly

  • The surface of the heating element is still subject to residual heat after use.

  • This appliance may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with this appliance.

IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • This appliance is not intended for outdoor use.
  • Always turn the thermostat knob to the MIN position and then unplug the appliance when not in use and before assembling, disassembling, moving or cleaning it. Do not pull the cord to unplug the appliance.
  • Check that the voltage indicated on the appliance rating plate corresponds to the mains voltage in your home.
  • Never leave this appliance unattended while it is switched on.
  • Place this appliance on a stable, level surface before switching it on.
  • Do not use an extension cord as this can result in fire, electric shock and/or injury due to tripping hazard.
  • Do not use this appliance for any purpose other than its intended use.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or countertop, or come into contact with heated surfaces.
  • The use of attachments not recommended by the manufacturer can result in injury.
  • Exercise extreme caution when moving an appliance containing hot liquid.
  • When the appliance is in use, ensure that there is sufficient air space at the top and all sides of the appliance for ventilation.
  • Do not use or store this appliance near flammable materials such as curtains.
  • Do not immerse this appliance, the cord or the plug in water or any other liquid.
  • Never allow the appliance to heat up when empty.
  • The contents of the pan (chocolate, cheese, oil or water) will remain warm for some time after the appliance has been switched off. Never attempt to move your appliance until it has cooled to room temperature. RISK OF SERIOUS BURNS!
  • Never place the cord on top of the base with heating element while the appliance is switched on, as this will damage the power cord. Ensure that the thermostat is set to the minimum position before connecting the appliance to the mains supply.
  • Never place this appliance directly on a plastic tablecloth or a fragile or sloping surface.
  • Do not use this appliance if the pan is damaged.
  • Never cover the appliance while it is in operation. • Do not touch the hot parts of the appliance while it is switched on.
  • Do not use frozen meat because contact between water and hot oil can cause splashing and overflowing. Oil splashes from contact with ice water can cause serious burns.
  • Be careful of splashing fat and hot steam when using this appliance.
  • When making meat fondue, do not mix different types of fat. Do not mix fresh and used oil either, but only use fresh oil.
  • This appliance is NOT a deep fryer. It is therefore prohibited to fry chips, donuts, etc. in this appliance.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Remove all packaging materials and check that all items are present and in good condition.
Clean the fondue pot, fondue fork rings and forks in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Wipe the outer surface of the heating element base with a damp cloth and dry.

OPERATION

This appliance can be used for cheese fondue, meat fondue (with oil), Chinese fondue (with water) and chocolate fondue.

  1. Place the base with heating element at a safe distance from the edges on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface.

  2. Depending on the type of fondue you are going to prepare, add the chocolate, cheese, oil or water to the pan, paying attention to the minimum and maximum filling levels as indicated in the pan.
    • Caution: never mix water with oil: this can be extremely dangerous.
    • To melt quickly and evenly, it is advisable to use shaved or grated cheese and chocolate that has been broken into small pieces.

  3. Place the fork ring on top of the fondue pot.
    • Make sure that the edge of the fork ring is firmly on the edge of the fondue pot.

  4. Connect the appliance to a power outlet, making sure that the cord cannot become tangled and the appliance cannot fall over.
    This appliance must be equipped with an earth wire.
    • Make sure that the thermostat knob is set to the MIN position.

  5. Turn the thermostat knob to the desired position.
    • The red indicator light will come on, indicating that the appliance is heating up.
    • When you first use this appliance, you may notice a slight odour and some smoke. This is completely normal and should disappear after a few minutes.
    • For the classic meat fondue, turn the thermostat knob to the MAX position.
    For cheese, Chinese and chocolate fondue, it is advisable to turn the thermostat knob to the medium position.
    • During cooking, the red indicator light will alternately come on and go out while the set temperature is maintained.

  6. Dip the food (cut into slices/cubes) carefully into the pan using the forks provided. Place the forks in the notches of the fork ring.
    Please note: to prevent oil splashes, the food must be completely drained. If you are using frozen food, it must be completely defrosted beforehand.

  7. When the food is cooked, remove the forks from the pan and place the food on your bard .
    Caution: Never put fondue forks directly into your mouth as there is a risk of serious burns!

  8. When you are finished, turn the thermostat knob to the MIN position and unplug the plug from the socket.
    • The red indicator light will then go out.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Turn the thermostat knob to the MIN position and unplug the appliance. Allow the appliance to cool to room temperature before cleaning.
Clean the fondue pot, the fondue fork ring and the forks in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Clean the base with heating elements with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water or other liquids.
Do not use abrasive or chemical cleaning agents on this appliance.
Surfaces that come into contact with food should be cleaned regularly to prevent cross-contamination of different types of food. Clean warm water and a mild detergent are sufficient for cleaning surfaces that come into contact with food.
Good food hygiene practices should be followed at all times to prevent a risk of food contamination.
