OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance is intended for household use. Use on Alternating Current (50/60 hertz) only. This unit is designed to be operated at 120/240 volts AC. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
Dual Voltage
This unit will automatically adjust to the proper voltage. Use an adapter plug
with the correct configuration, prior to use in the outlet.
Prepare for use
| 1. Make sure the unit is unplugged and remove the steamer top from the
reservoir before filling.
---|---
| 2. Fill reservoir to water level line with distilled water only. Do not
overfill. Replace the top with rollers and plugins.
| 3. After about 90 seconds, when the unit begins to steam, the rollers are
ready to use. DO NOT HEAT THE ROLLERS ON THE UNIT FOR OVER 3 MINUTES, AS
THEY WILL BE TOO HOT TO TOUCH.
| 4. Roll hair around steam-infused roller.
Create curls
| 1. Place section of hair evenly on the roller and roll upward toward the
scalp. Snap roller shield into place.
---|---
| 2. To create a tighter, bouncy curl, roll or wrap, but apply extra pressure
while rotating up.
| 3. To wrap hair around the roller, place the roller midsection on the hair
strand and roll either under or over to the scalp. Snap roller shield into
place.
Unroll and style
| 1. To remove rollers, gently take off the shield. Rotate the roller
downward in a dropping motion without pulling or tugging.
---|---
| 2. If desired, separate curls with fingers to loosen. Do not comb or brush.
For extra volume, flip hair over and loosen at the roots.
Cleaning and storage
Empty water reservoir when not in use. Unplug the unit and allow it to cool.
Remove steamer unit. Turn the unit upside down and drain. Dry the exterior
with a cloth. Wrap the power cord around the unit and store it in a dry place.
Clean the unit occasionally to remove mineral buildup. Using distilled or
purified water helps lessen this buildup, but in general, you should clean
your hair setter after every 20 uses, more often if the water in your area is
hard.
CAUTION: Never allow the power supply cord to be pulled, twisted or severely bent. Never wrap the cord tightly around the unit. Damage will occur at the high flex point of entry into the unit, causing it to rupture and short circuit. Inspect the cord frequently for damage. Stop use immediately if the damage is visible or the unit stops or operates intermittently. If the cord or unit is damaged or does not operate properly, return it for repair to an authorized Conair Service Representative only. No repairs should be attempted by the consumer. If you turn the steam unit upside down, do not put your hand over or close to the steam vent, as it may contain a small amount of hot water.
Rollers and Foams:
Pull rollers apart to clean, gently pushing back the foam to pull off the
endcap. Slide foam off the core and clean in warm water with mild detergent.
Rinse thoroughly, blot excess water and allow to dry completely before putting
back on rollers to reuse.
IMPORTANT: After using the hair setter several times, you will find the
best timing for the length and texture of your hair and for the result you
desire.
Styling Tips
For maximum results, use one or two rollers on the top front layer of your hair. Use the remaining rollers on the sides and back of the head. The hair should be taken in equal sections and rolled under, toward your neck. After approximately 10 minutes or when rollers have cooled, the rollers can be removed. Let hair cool for one minute and then style.

MAINTENANCE
Your hairsetter is designed for household use and is virtually maintenance-
free. This product represents the highest standards of workmanship and
engineering research.
If cleaning becomes necessary, disconnect the appliance from the power source.
Allow the hairsetter to cool. Clean the unit with a damp cloth. (Occasionally
you may want to clean the rollers. Use a damp cloth and mild detergent or
soap.) If any abnormal condition occurs, unplug the hairsetter, allow it to
cool, and return it to an authorized service representative for repair.
STORAGE
Allow hairsetter to cool. Handle cord carefully for longer life; avoid jerking
or straining at plug connections. Place hairsetter out of reach of children in
a safe, dry location.
Do not wrap the line cord around the unit. Allow the cord to hang or lie loose
and straight at the point of entry into the unit.
WARNING: IF YOU THINK THE POWER IS OFF WHEN THE SWITCH IS OFF, YOU’RE WRONG.
KEEP AWAY FROM WATER
Everyone knows that electricity and water are a dangerous combination. But did
you know that an electric appliance is still electrically live even if the
switch is off?
If the plug is in, the power is on. So when you are not using your appliances,
keep them unplugged.
