Single-Stage, Low Pressure
LP Gas Regulator Type 2531CS-0140
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS TO BE KEPT BY THE USER
Read carefully before use
Safety Information
- Always install the regulator in Gas OFF position only.
- In normal conditions of use, in order to ensure a safe operation of installation, it is recommended that the regulator should be changed every 10 years from the date of manufacture.
- For outdoor use, the device should be positioned and protected against direct contact of water.
- Before installation make sure that the rubber seal/gasket in the cylinder valve or regulator is in good condition.
- Make sure all valves on the appliance are turned off.
- Cylinder to be kept in an upright position during use.
- Rubber hoses must be in a good condition, with no signs of wear or damage, and should not be more than 5-10 years old.
- Do not try to remove the regulator while the gas is ON.
- Do not move the cylinder while in operation.
- Do not change the cylinder in the presence of any sources of ignition such as naked flames
- When the regulator is installed downstream of another regulator, the supply pressure range shall be correct for the regulated pressure range of the upstream regulator, plus any pressure losses in the interconnecting pipe work.
- That downstream installation pressure loss shall not exceed the P marked on the device.
- If fitting the regulator indirectly to a pressurized tank:
– The regulator must not be positioned lower than top of the tank or outlet valve.
– This is to avoid any gas vapor which may have re-liquefied from draining down into the regulator.
– Any additional pipes or hoses used to connect the regulator must be inclined so that any liquefied or condensed gas can drain back into tank.
Installation
Before installing:
- Check the gasket/seal on the cylinder valve is in place and in good condition.
- If the gas valve is not in good condition, ask your dealer to replace it with another cylinder valve.
- Conduct a visual inspection of the regulator. Remove any dirt or loose metal shavings.
- In total absence of any flame, remove the protection seal or cap from the gas cylinder valve.
- Press the push button horizontally, mount the regulator onto the cylinder valve and press the regulator firmly down into place before releasing the push button.
- Turn on by turning the lever, after ensuring that regulator is connected firmly on the cylinder.
- Perform a leak test by use of the manometer gauge. If no leaks, the gas appliance can be started up.
- If any leaks, check installation and restart leak test procedure.
- To replace the cylinder turn OFF the lever, dismount the regulator by horizontally pressing the push button and then vertically remove the regulator from the cylinder valve.
Gas Level Indicator
Current gas level should be read when the gas appliance is in use, following
these color indicators:
Blue: The cylinder is nearly empty, no more liquid gas in the cylinder.
Yellow: The cylinder will soon be empty, plan to refill soon.
Green: Enough gas for continuous gas consumption.
Leak Test Procedure
- The regulator is connected to the gas appliance with the gas hose. Gas appliance valves shall be in closed/off position.
- The regulator is attached to the gas cylinder valve.
- Open the gas flow by turning the gas cylinder valve control knob open.
- After filling up the regulator and hose with gas, close the regulator valve again. The gas is now trapped between the gas regulator and gas appliance.
- The manometer dial goes into the Green area of the scale.
- Wait 2-5 minutes. If the dial is still in the green area of the scale without moving, the installation is free of any leakage.
- In case the dial is moving into the yellow or blue area the installation has a leak.
- Go through the installation with leak spray or water soap solution to identify the leak.
- Gas appliance should not be used until all leaks have been eliminated.
Excess Flow Valve Feature (EFV)
- The regulator is equipped with a manual excess flow valve, a safety feature that automatically cuts off gas flow in the event that the hose is compromised. The excess flow valve is activated during the use of the gas appliance:
– If the gas appliance consumes more gas than 110% of the regulators rated capacity.
– If the gas hose is disconnected.
– If the hose burns through as a result of fire, or if the hose is cut through by accident.
