Connecting to Your Network
Option 1 – Wireless
- The 3D scanner will start a WIFI hotspot called MAF_THREE and project an IP address. Connect your computer to the WIFI hotspot MAF_THREE. (Figure 4.)
- Open your web browser and enter the IP address projected by the 3D scanner.
- Follow the instructions on the website to select your WIFI network and enter its password. (Figure 5.)
- MAF_THREE hotspot will disconnect and the 3D scanner will attempt to connect to the selected WIFI network using the password you provided. Your computer will disconnect from MAF_THREE.
- If necessary, reconnect your computer to your WIFI network.
- When the 3D scanner successfully connects to your WIFI network it will project a new IP address. Open the IP address in your web browser. This accesses the 3D scanner’s built-in website, which provides software control for 3D scanning and managing your scans. (Figure 6.)
- If the 3D scanner does not successfully connect to WIFI, it is because of an incorrect password or because the network is no longer available. In this situation the 3D scanner will restart the WIFI hotspot MAF_ THREE. Repeat the connection process from Step 1.
Option 2 – Ethernet
- Connect the 3D scanner using an ethernet cable (not included).
- Connect the ethernet cable to the 3D scanner, and then connect the other end to your router. (Figure 7.)
- Open your web browser and enter the IP address projected by the 3D scanner.
- Optionally: Click on the “hamburger menu” (the three horizontal lines) at the top-left corner of the page. (Figure 8.)
- Optionally: Choose “Network”, then click on WIFI and select your WIFI network and enter its password.
- Optionally: When the 3D scanner successfully connects to your WIFI network it will project “Connected” with an IP address. Type the IP address in your web browser to connect using WIFI.
- Optionally: You may disconnect the ethernet cable and use THREE via WIFI.
Connection Alternative
Direct Ethernet Connection
- Connect an ethernet cable (not included) to the 3D scanner and to your computer’s ethernet port.
- Once connected, open the IP address projected by the 3D scanner. You may choose to connect the 3D scanner to WIFI as per the instructions above. Please Note, this may not work for all devices.
Hotspot Only
You may optionally use the 3D scanner by connecting to its hotspot and not
connecting it to WIFI. This configuration is not recommended because you will
not have internet access on your computer and THREE will not have internet
access to check for software updates.
- Connect your computer to the THREE’s WIFI hotspot MAF_THREE.
- Use a web-browser to open the projected IP address.
- When prompted choose not to connect to WIFI.
3D Scanning
Once connected to the 3D scanner follow the built-in tutorial instructions to scan, process and export.
