**MASON POT 2023 Herbal Oil and Butter Infuser Kit Instruction Manual
**
Welcome to the Family!
Our goal with this manual is to provide you with a comprehensive infusion guide that is simple to understand and easily edible… I mean digestible. While infusions can seem complex at the end of the day it’s important to remember they are simple at their core.
It was 15 years ago when I made my first weed brownies, I literally just stirred ground up weed in the mix and cooked it. I have learned a ton since then and I am super excited to share it with you! The fact you have purchased the Mason Pot shows you care about making quality infusions and edibles and I will guide you step-by-step. Just don’t be mad at me when all your friends keep asking for your famous infusions and edibles.
For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Jack Woltering creator of The Mason Pot, True Buds TV on YouTube and the True Buds Show podcast on YouTube and all major platforms. If you want to take a deeper dive into infusions and cannabis those are some great resources. From the bottom of my heart thank you for joining us on this infusion journey and it is an honor to be part of yours! I have poured so much love and thought into the Mason Pot. I kid you not when I say it is an accumulation of 15 years of thinking. Since 2022
I have been working diligently every day to bring the Mason Pot to life.
I thought… how I can elevate an already OG tried and true design and slowly the pieces assembled themselves in my head. Tons of pieces, I ordered so many samples that the mail man had a key. When we thought we had found the perfect fit we knew we could make it better, that’s my brother Reed and me. The beauty of the mason pot is its simplicity, longevity, and versatility. Every piece has a function, and new functions are being found out every day. Follow us HERE to see for yourself.

Decarboxylation Basics
What is Decarboxylation and How to Decarb Video.
Decarboxylation aka Decarb aka Activate is a process that occurs at the molecular level to change the chemical make-up of certain herbs. Using Cannabis/Hemp as an example it is the process of converting Cannabinoids such as TCHa and CBG into THC and CBD using a heat source, the most common being an oven. Decarboxylation is common for Flower, Kief, Hash and Shatter, just remember you are activating it before you infuse, it’s like the practice before the game. At Mason Pot we typically do 240f for 40 minutes, 250f for 30 minutes and sometimes 220f for 50 minutes.
While decarboxylation is very common, and we recommend it, it is not 100% necessary. Allow me to explain the difference between active and passive infusions.
Active Infusion : The Herb has been decarboxylated before adding oil, butter etc.
Passive Infusion : Raw Herb is added to the oil without being decarboxylated. The important question is what are YOU the “infuser” looking to achieve? The most potent batch? I would absolutely decarb (active infusion). A batch that you want to be as terpene rich as possible and not as worried about THC percentage I would go with (passive infusion).
Decarboxylation Ideal Temperature Range : 220-250F This is the ideal range you want to stay in. You start to lose valuable terpenes and cannabinoids at higher temperatures. we will walk through the process using the Mason Pot now.
Mason Pot Decarboxylation Calibration
Step 1 : Calibrate Oven: Attach the lid with silicone hole to your mason pot jar and insert thermometer.
- Preheat the oven to 240f and place the Mason Pot jar inside and allow about 10 minutes after the oven is done preheating to assess the temperature.
- You will then know if your oven is accurate, running hot or cold and then you adjust accordingly.
- Example 1: I found out my oven runs about 15-20 degrees hot so when I went to decarb, I set my oven at 220f instead of 240f
- Example 2: I found my friend’s oven is right on the money with 2–3- degree variance so no changes needs.
- Example 3: I found my girlfriend’s toaster oven runs 10 degrees colder so when decarbing I set the temperature to 250 degrees instead of 240 degrees.
The purpose of this step is to lock in the perfect temperature, we’re taking the time to take the time to have a perfect infusion every time! Good news you only need to do this the first time and you’re dialed in! If you like to fly by the seat of your pants, you can skip this step all together and move to the decarboxylation adjusting the temperature on the fly if necessary.
Hack: This has helped my cooking in general when using this oven, no wonder my frozen pizza always came out a little burnt!
How To Decarboxylate/Activate Herb
-
Preheat your oven to 240 degrees Fahrenheit (115 degrees Celsius). This temperature is ideal for decarboxylating the cannabis, which activates the cannabinoids.
-
Prepare your Herb and place it in the Mason Pot jar. If using big buds we recommend breaking them down by hand into smaller pieces. You can also use ground cannabis, shake/trim, kief, already vaped or pressed flower etc.
Hack: Better yet with the OG bundle you can do three different strains/batches at the same time. Grab more Mason Pot jars at masonpot.com. -
Place MP Lid with the silicone hole back on the jar and insert the thermometer. This will allow you to monitor the temperature during the decarboxylation process.
-
Put the jar in the preheated oven and let it decarb for 40 minutes at 240 degrees Fahrenheit (115 degrees Celsius). Decarboxylation converts the inactive cannabinoids into their active forms, making them more potent and bioavailable.
-
After 40 minutes, remove the jar from the oven and let it cool on the counter. This will allow the vapors to settle down before adding the oil.
Hack: If you are really trying to cut down on the smell, take the jar outside before opening. I also enjoy cooking and love garlic so I will often cook up some strong-smelling goodness!

INFUSION BASICS
Once again, here at Mason Pot we are huge fans of simplification, and it is important to remember at the end of the day all we are doing is heating the herbs to activate and then adding it to a base substance (fat source/oil/butter) for the best bioavailability. While simple, we also consider infusions an art, so infusion capabilities are endless, and we are learning new benefits every day! We fly high because the sky is the limit!
More good news, it used to be hard to make the perfect infusion, but now Mason Pot will take out the guess work and simplify the process so you can have a perfect infusion every time!
After you decarboxylate your herb the next step is to infuse with oil, butter, etc. You will do this at a lower temperature than the decarboxylation process.
Recommended Infusion Temperature Range : We recommend you keep the temperature range between 190 to 210 degrees Fahrenheit (88 to 93 degrees Celsius). You can go up to 220 degrees Fahrenheit (104 degrees Celsius), but it’s recommended to stay within the sweet spot of 190 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit (88 to 93 degrees Celsius).
Infusion Duration : We recommend infusing for two and up to four hours. Any more time than that we hit a point of diminishing return.

How to Make Easy Infused Chocolate with a Mason Pot
If you’re a fan of chocolate and looking to add a little something extra to your treats, then infused chocolate is the way to go. We will show you how to make easy infused chocolate using a mason pot. We’ll be using Ghirardelli chocolate and infusing it with coconut oil for a delicious and potent treat, let’s get started!
Step 1: Melting the Chocolate
To begin, place the chocolate pellets into the Mason Pot Jar. You can use as much chocolate as you like, depending on how many infused chocolates you want to make. I recommend starting with a small amount for your first batch.
Next, melt the chocolate in the microwave for about 30-60 seconds at 50% power. Keep an eye on it to prevent it from burning. The exact time may vary depending on your microwave, so it’s best to check on the chocolate frequently and stir it to ensure even melting.
Step 2: Adding the Infusion
Once the chocolate is melted, take it out of the microwave and add your infusion of choice. Again, we’re using infused coconut oil. Coconut oil is a popular choice for infusing because
it has a high fat content, which helps to extract the cannabinoids from the plant material.
Make sure to mix the infused coconut oil well with the melted chocolate. You want the infusion to be evenly distributed throughout the mixture for consistent potency in each\ chocolate.
Step 3: Pouring into the Mold
Now that your infused chocolate mixture is ready, it’s time to pour it into a mold of your choice. For precision dosage, we recommend using a mason pot mold with small cubes. This will allow you to easily control the dosage of each chocolate.
Carefully pour the mixture into the mold, filling each cavity to the top. You can use a spoon or a small spatula to help distribute the mixture evenly and remove any air bubbles.
Step 4: Freezing and Enjoying
Once your mold is filled, place it in the freezer to allow the infused chocolate to set. Leave it in the freezer for at least a couple of hours, or until the chocolates are firm and easy to remove from the mold.
When the chocolates are ready, simply crack them out of the mold and they’re ready to enjoy! These infused chocolates are perfect for a sweet treat or for sharing with friends. Each chocolate will have a consistent dosage, making it easy to control your intake.
If you prefer gummies over chocolates, you can also use the same process to make infused gummies. Simply substitute the chocolate with a gummies and follow the same steps.
