  • Welcome, and congratulations on your new Hikerboy electric scooter.
  • The user manual of the electric scooter will enable you to operate and maintain the electric scooter properly. By reading this manual, you will be able to better understand the working principle and performance of the scooter and make full use of it.
  • This manual contains the latest product information at the beginning of printing. Hikerboy will continue to pursue the improvement of product design and quality and may update the product design at any time, which may lead to some inconsistencies between the manual and the real object without notice.

Safety Instructions

  1. Please read this instruction manual carefully before riding, If the rider is inexperienced or does not use this product according to this manual, neither the manufacturer nor the seller is responsible for incidental damage or direct/indirect damage caused by the use of this product.
  2. To reduce the risk of injury, be sure to read and follow all CAUTION and WARNING instructions in this manual. Do not speed. Do not, under any circumstances, drive on motor vehicle lanes.
  3. Following the tips and warnings in this manual cannot eliminate all the risks. Please remember that you may risk injury from loss of control, collisions, and falls when using the scooter. Do not pass through places with obstacles and protrusions.
  4. Wear helmets and other protective equipment and drive the electric scooter safely.
  5. Before lending the scooter to another person, please make sure that the person has read the instruction manual. You are responsible for the safety of the new rider. Please assist the new rider in learning how to use the scooter until he/she learns the basic operation of the scooter.
  6. This product may contain detachable parts, so keep it away from children to avoid hazards from swallowing or accidental ingestion.

Riding instructions

  1. Please respect the pedestrians and obey local traffic laws and regulations when riding. Remind pedestrians and slow down when approaching. Avoid startling pedestrians, especially the elderly, the disabled, children, and pregnant women. When riding for the first time, choose an open and accessible space away from children, pedestrians, pets, vehicles, or other obstacles.
  2. Do not accelerate or decelerate suddenly. Always ride with both hands and feet on the footboard. Do not ride faster than the speed limit of the scooter. Otherwise, there is a risk of loss of control, collision and fall.
  3. Do not use the scooter if it is damaged, emits odor, smoke, overheats, or has malfunctioned or abnormal parts, etc., and contact the after-sales service promptly.
  4. Do not throw or drop the scooter, and do not put the scooter in an open fire or under high temperatures.
  5. When riding, you should ensure that it’s visible between you and the others; It is necessary to observe and avoid roads that are not easy to ride.
  6. It is recommended to wear protective glasses when riding. Stunts are forbidden during riding.
  7. To avoid distractions when riding a scooter, please don’t wear headphones, or earplugs, answer and make calls, take photos, take videos, or do any activities unrelated to riding so that you can be fully aware of the external environment when riding.
  8. This product is for one person only. It is prohibited to carry passengers.

Riding environment requirements

  1. For whatever reason, please do not ride the scooter under the conditions of snow, rain, wet, mud, and ice. When riding on rainy and snowy days, the scooter may be flooded, resulting in the risk of function damage, fire, and even explosion caused by wet batteries.
  2. Please do not ride under the following conditions, including but not limited to bad weather, low visibility, dawn, dusk, dense fog, smoke, night, darkness, or extreme fatigue. Each of the above conditions will increase the risk of accidents.
  3. Do not ride the scooter over obstacles (sand, stones or roadblocks). When you encounter steep slopes and rough roads, please pay attention to your safety and don’t risk riding through the section or other terrain you haven’t encountered before.
  4. It is forbidden to ride on highways, swimming pools, slippery ponds, and other areas with water, uneven ground, materials, and areas such as loose ground which may affect normal riding or threaten riding safety.
  5. Use the scooter only in open space after being comfortable with its operating system.

Rider requirements

  • This product is suitable for users aged 16-60. Riders under the age of 18 years old should ride under adult supervision.
  • Riders should wear helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, and other safety protective equipment. Please use a qualified bicycle or scooter helmet and tie the bandage at a suitable position on your chin.
  • People who are not suitable for riding this scooter include:
    • People affected by alcohol or drugs.
    • People who are unable to engage in strenuous physical activities due to illness.
    • People who have problems with balance or with motor skills that would interfere with their ability to maintain balance.
    • People whose weight exceeds the specified limit (see “Specifications”).
    • Children under the age of 16.
  • Pregnant women.
    • It is forbidden to wear high heels, slippers, and open-toed shoes.

Pre-ride inspection

  1. Before riding the scooter every time, please carefully check to ensure that there is no sign of looseness or damage to any part including wheels, brakes, screws, etc., and ensure the scooter is in ready state. If the scooter makes an abnormal sound, please stop using it immediately and contact your dealer or customer service for professional guidance or maintenance services.
  2. All parts of the scooter must be installed correctly by these instructions. Improper installation may result in the risk of loss of control, collision, and fall. During installation, please use appropriate force. Over-tightening or loosening of screws will cause damage or malfunction to the scooter.
  3. When the battery is low or empty, the scooter does not have enough power to maintain your normal riding. Please make sure that the battery is charged enough to avoid danger before riding.

Post ride inspection

  1. Do not touch the brake system of the scooter, otherwise it may cause injury.
  2. It is recommended to park on flat and firm ground. If parking on a slope, The scooter must be placed with the kickstand against the slope to prevent it from tipping over. Don’t let the scooter’s s front face down the slope, as the kickstand closes caused by gravity and tips the machine. After putting down the kickstand, please check whether the vehicle body is stable to avoid any risk of falling (by slip, wind or slight jolt).
  3. Parking without turning off the machine may cause it to move spontaneously, causing damage to you and the people or property around you. Please be sure to turn off the scooter before parking.

Others

  1. Only parts and accessories designated or approved by Hikerboy can be used. Please do not modify your scooter. The modification of the scooter may affect the operation of the scooter cause serious damage and void the limited warranty.
  2. The scooter is not a medical device and should not be used as a medical aid tool. It is forbidden to use scooters as freight tools.
  3. Children should not use scooters or play with parts of scooters, nor should they carry out cleaning or maintenance activities.
  4. While you ride in countries where there are no national standards and regulations for electric scooters, please strictly abide by the safety requirements of this manual.
  5. The vibration of the vehicle when riding the scooter will cause the rider’s body to shake. Do not ride the scooter if you are physically tired.

Power Button

  1. Single press to power on and long press to power off.
  2. A short single press to switch on/off the headlight and taillight.
  3. Double press to switch riding modes.
  4. Triple press to switch the unit of speed.
  5. Press 5 times to switch on/off the zero-speed start mode.
  6. Press 6 times to switch on/off the cruise control.

Dashboard

Turn Signals Control

  • Speedometer: It displays the current speed of the scooter, as well as error codes.
  • Speed Mode: There are three riding modes available.

  • Walk Mode: Max. speed is 6 km/h (3.75 mph).
  • Error: It indicates that the scooter has detected an error.
  • Turn Signals: It indicates the on/off status and the direction of the turn signals.
  • Bluetooth: It indicates that the scooter is successfully connected to the mobile device.
  • Battery Level: The total battery level equals 5 bars.

Vehicle Assemble

  1. Turn the handlebar to a horizontal position and remove all protective styrofoam blocks around the area. Hold the stem and close the quick-release lever until it is fixed on the stem. You will hear a ‘click’ sound.
  2. Rotate the handlebar until it is perpendicular to the wheels and stem, push the cables gently inside the tube, then move the handlebar slowly downwards until it sits perfectly inside.
  3. Align the screw holes, turn the hex wrench clockwise to tighten the 6 M5 screws as shown. (3 N.m of torque required)
  4. Grab the stem and the bottom of the e-scooter using both hands and carefully lift it out of the box. Park the e-scooter by turning the stand clockwise to its fixed position.

Charging

  • Each scooter is equipped with a charger. Do not charge your electric scooter with other brands of chargers.
  • Be sure to switch off your scooter before charging. Always check for any abnormalities before charging the electric scooter.
  • The charger indicator light is red when charging and turns green when charging is complete.
  • NOTE: Make sure that the main voltage is compatible. (AC200V-240V).

WARNING

  • Place the scooter in a dry and ventilated space when charging. Do not cover the charger during charging.
  • Make sure that there is no flammable or explosive material near the battery.
  • Do not connect the charger if the charge port or the cable is wet. Do not charge or use your battery if it is damaged or see trace of water.
  • Do not charge your electric scooter with other brands of chargers. The charger is not suitable for other types of batteries.

First Use

  1. Wear an approved helmet and other protective gear to minimize any possible injury.
  2. Power on the scooter and check the power level. Charge the scooter if the battery level is low.
    • NOTE: The scooter will automatically turn off after 5 minutes of non-use.
  3. Place one foot on the footboard while keeping the other on the ground to keep your balance. Then push off with the other foot to start gliding.
  4. Put your other foot on the footboard to keep both feet stable. Press the throttle to speed up when you are balanced.
    • NOTE : Hold the accelerator for more than 8 seconds, the speed will remain constant without accelerating. To stop the cruise control you can accelerate or brake. You can use the App or press the mode button for 6 times to turn it on/off.
  5. Slow down by releasing the throttle; and brake by slowly applying the brakes to decelerate and stop, then place your foot on the ground.
  6. Before turning, slow down and shift your body, then turn the handlebar slightly.

Fold & Unfold

NOTE: You need to turn off the scooter before folding or unfolding.

  1. Turn off the scooter. Hold the stem and open the quick-release lever by pushing the button up, and then the lever down.
  2. Lower the stem and press the top of the snap hook to attach it to the buckle.
  3. Press the top of the snap hook to release the stem, and lift the stem until it is aligned with the folding mechanism.
  4. Close the quick-release lever until it is secured to the stem, and you will hear a ‘click’ sound.

App Installation

  • Thanks to the Hikerboy application, you can control your electric scooter via Bluetooth from your smartphone: lights, speed modes, charge level, locker, mileage …
  • You can follow the performance of the scooter in real time, without creating a customer account.
  • WARNING: To ensure the safety of the riders, the functions of the scooter cannot be changed while riding.
  1. After Installing, switch on the scooter and activate the Bluetooth function on your phone.
  2. Start the application, and click on “Search” to connect to the scooter.
  3. The scooter is successfully fully connected when the Bluetooth icon lights up.
  4. Now you can start riding and access the status by using the app.
  5. Select the ‘System Settings’ button to enter system settings. Select ‘Vehicle Details’ to access the current vehicle status and firmware upgrades. Select ‘Speed Settings’ to adjust functions such as cruise control, speed mode, and zero speed start mode.

Warnings

  • Riding in the rain or water is prohibited.
  • Do not ride in motorized traffic.
  • Do not ride up and down steps or jump over obstacles.
  • Do not carry another person.
  • Hanging or transporting heavy objects is prohibited.
  • No talking on the phone or wearing headphones while riding.
  • Do not drink alcohol while riding or riding under the influence of alcohol.
  • Do not pedal on the rear fender.
  • Slow down when going downhill.
  • Do not ride with one hand or one foot. It is prohibited to perform stunts.
  • Avoid hitting high obstacles such as door frames.
  • Do not pass through obstacles at high speeds.
  • Do not accel rate while pushing forward.
  • Do not touch the motor and disc brake area after riding.
  • Do not store in an environment lower than -5℃ or higher than 40℃.
  • No modification of the vehicle.
  • Do not use a pressurized water jet to wash the vehicle.
  • Do not park outdoors for too long or leave it without power.

Maintenance

  • Storage
    • When not in use, please park the scooter indoors or inside the car to avoid damage caused by water ingress into the scooter in rain, snow, and other harsh environments.
    • The scooter needs to be stored in a cool, dry location. Please do not leave the scooter outdoors for a long time.
    • Exposure to sunlight and extreme temperature conditions (too hot and too cold) will accelerate the deterioration of the plastic and may result in reduced battery life.
  • Cleaning
    • It is recommended to clean the scooter regularly. Never wash with plenty of water.
    • Do not wash with alcohol, gasoline, acetone, or other corrosive/volatile solvents, as this could damage the electrical system.
    • To clean the dust that collects on the scooter, use a brush or a dry and/or damp cloth.
  • WARNING
    • Make sure the scooter is powered off, the charging cable is unplugged, and the rubber cap on the charge port is tightly sealed before cleaning; otherwise, you may damage the electronic components.
    • Store your scooter in a cool, dry place. Do not store it outdoors for extended periods.
    • Exposure to sunlight and temperature extremes (both hot and cold) will accelerate the aging process of the plastic components and may reduce battery life.
  • Lubrication
    • It is recommended to lubricate your electric scooter every month in the folding system.
    • NOTE: Do not use the WD40 to lubricate the parts. Never lubricate the front and rear wheels, it will damage the brake system. (If in doubt, consult your dealer.)
  • Inflation of tires
    • Check the tire pressure regularly, at least a week before your scooter trip. The maximum tire pressure is indicated on the side of the wheels.
    • The pressure can be indicated in Bar or Kilopascal (1 kPa = 0.01 bar).
    • Always make sure the tires are inflated to the recommended pressure. If the pressure is too low, the wheels may be damaged.
    • If the pressure exceeds the recommendations, the tires could injure you or someone nearby.
    • To check the tire pressure you can use an air pump equipped with a gauge.
  • Battery
    • Charge the battery after each ride and avoid draining the battery completely. Avoid leaving the battery discharged for an extended period.
    • To optimize the performance of the battery, it should be recharged once a month (5 hours).
  • WARNING
    • Please do not attempt to remove or disassemble the battery, otherwise, there is a risk of fire and possible damage to the battery.
    • Batteries contain toxic heavy metals and therefore require special attention for recycling.
    • Lithium batteries cannot be thrown in a conventional trash can, they must be left at a collection point provided for this purpose according to local regulations.

Conventional fault
If the scooter does not operate properly, check that all of the following actions have been performed:
