Hole Marking and Preparation:
Locate and mark holes using the provided template or measurements. Ensure proper pre-drilling of holes for screws. -
Door Closer Installation:
Install the door closer to the door with the spring adjustment nut away from the hinge. Ensure correct orientation based on door hand. -
Foot Bracket Attachment:
Attach the foot bracket to the door stop using the specified holes and spacers when required. Secure with a minimum of 5 screws. -
Arm Assembly:
Preassemble the arm before attaching it to the stop. Ensure proper orientation based on door hand.\ -
Pivot Installation:
Open the door and install the pivot as shown. Secure the pivot\ and arms with screws, ensuring proper indexing for correct functionality. -
Closing Speed Adjustment:
Use a hex socket wrench to adjust closing speeds as needed within the specified ranges based on door width and type. -
Cover Installation:
Install the cover as shown to protect internal components. -
Adjustment of Hold Open Arm (PH10 Arm Only):
Use a wrench to slightly tighten or loosen the hold open nut to adjust the holding position of the door. Always use a door stop to protect walls and trim.

LOCATE AND MARK HOLES USING FULL SIZE TEMPLATE OR MEASURE AS SHOWN BELOW. NOTE : FOR MAXIMUM POWER, INSTALL FOR 120° OPENING. FOR 180° OPENING, SEE TEMPLATE ON PAGE 4.

INSTALL DOOR CLOSER TO DOOR WITH SPRING ADJUSTMENT NUT AWAY FROM HINGE.
NOTE : 351 CLOSER BODIES ARE NON-HANDED. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE CLOSER BODY IS INSTALLED WITH “RH” SYMBOL AT TOP FOR RIGHT HAND DOORS, “LH” SYMBOL AT TOP FOR LEFT HAND DOORS.

Adjusting Closing Speeds
- Adjust door speed and latching speed valves to achieve the desired closing time.
- Recommend 6 seconds minimum from 90° to the closed position.
- If Backcheck is required, adjust valve to achieve a slight cushioning effect. Auxiliary stop required. If closer is equipped with delayed action, regulate valve to achieve the desired delay.
Adjust closing power to the minimum required to reliably close and latch door.
- If door is hard to open, decrease power slightly.
- If door does not latch, increase power as required.
- Use the chart as a starting point.
- Doors adjusted with high closing power to overcome strong draft conditions may exceed ADA standards.
