Compact 8 Setup and Use

Set up and power on Compact 8

Slide the appropriate plug into the power supply until it clicks.
Connect the USB-C end of the cable to Compact 8.
Connect the USB-A end of the cable to the power supply.
Plug the power supply into an AC wall outlet.
Charge the device until you see a solid green status light on the left side of Compact 8, which means it is fully charged.
Press and hold the orange button on the top of the device for 4 seconds. When you see a splash screen, Compact 8 is powering up.
Choose your language, then start using Compact 8 in Live view!

Open the stand to read with the desktop camera

Place the device on a flat surface. Use one hand to stabilize the device and the other hand to push the blue tab at the top of the stand. Push out until the stand is fully extended.

Close the stand to see objects a short distance away

The distance camera is ideal for viewing labels, receipts, or menus.

Easy mode

Change mode

To display Advanced mode, press the Color Mode button for 5 seconds and tap Advanced.

Advanced mode

Take a Snapshot

Tap the screen to display the button bar(s) in Easy mode or Advanced mode.
Tap the Snapshot button to take a picture of the current image.
Hold the device motionless while the camera icon is displayed and until you hear a click.
To leave the snapshot and return to Live mode, tap the X in the top right corner.

Save a Snapshot

Tap the Menu button to display the Main Menu (Advanced mode only)
Tap the Save icon to save the snapshot. The message SAVING is displayed.
Once saved, the snapshot remains on the screen until you tap the X to close it.
When you close a snapshot, you return to Live view.

Change Magnification By Touch

Pinch to zoom works for both live images and snapshots.

Pan a magnified image by touch

Panning is available for both live images and snapshots.
