For Patients
Omnipod 5 simplifies insulin management for diabetes patients. Follow these
steps for usage:
- Prepare the Omnipod 5 device by inserting insulin pod.
- Connect the Omnipod 5 with the Dexcom G7 for integrated monitoring.
- Set up automated mode for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
- Monitor CGM warm-up period and continue with daily activities.

How to prescribe
Omnipod® 5 with Dexcom G7
For your patients on multiple daily injections or tubed pumps, Prescribe
Omnipod 5 with Dexcom G7 through ASPN
Initially launching with ASPN Pharmacies while we work to get the new G7
compatible Pods into all retail pharmacies.
e-prescribe:
- Send both Intro Kit & Refill Pods to ASPN Pharmacies (reference Rx details)
- ASPN will verify coverage and ensure your patient receives Pods that are compatible with Dexcom G7
Customers with insurance plans requiring local pickup will be unable to be processed by ASPN (including Medicaid-insured customers). They will need to start on Omnipod 5 with Dexcom G6 through their preferred pharmacy and wait for the new Pods to be available.

For your patients currently using Omnipod 5 with Dexcom G6
- Your current Omnipod 5 users will receive a free software update on their controller or Omnipod 5 App (for compatible phone control users). This update will allow users to pair a Dexcom G6 or Dexcom G7 sensor with a compatible Pod.
- Have your patients continue to use their Dexcom G6 supplies until they see “Compatible with Dexcom G7” on their Pod refill box. You don’t need to write a new prescription for your current customers.
- Prescribe Dexcom G7 and have them pair at their next Pod change
