This manual provides instructions on replacing a rope on an EZ-Pull Retractor.

NOTICE
Due to the weight of the post and assembly, more than one person is required to safely repair both the single and dual posts.

Tools needed:
· Drill · Long Phillips head (#2) bit · Long T25 bit · Long T30 bit · Knife or scissors

Step 1
Remove the cable clamps from charging cables using the Phillips head bit.

Remove charger(s) using instructions pertaining to the VersiCharge.
Step 3
Remove the charger bracket from the post. Using the long T25 or Phillips head bit (confirm which screws are used) remove the four screws that affix the charger bracket to the post.

Step 4
Remove the four ¼-20 screws that affix the post to the pedestal base using a long T30 or Phillips head bit (Confirm which screws are used). Two screws are located below the screws that held the bracket in place and two are also on the baseplate of the post.
Step 5
Lay the post on a flat surface.
Step 6
Using a T30 bit, remove the shroud at the top of the post by removing the four screws on top of the shroud.

Remove the rubber end caps from the pulley rail assembly.

Step 8
Remove the pulley rail cover by removing the two screws (one on each side) on the bottom side of the pulley rail. After the screws are removed, the pulley rail cover will slide off to the side.

Step 9
Remove the pulley rail by removing the four screws holding the pulley rail to the retractor using a T30 bit. The rail will now be free to move.
Step 10
Slowly pull the pulley rail back from the post until you can see the end of the weight(s) at the end of the retractor post. If the rope was previously severed, you will have to lift the bottom of the retractor to slide the weight out.

Step 11
Remove the pulley(s) from the top of the weight(s). Set the pulley and pin aside to reuse later.

Step 12
Remove the damaged/severed rope from the pulley rail. Untie the knot for the damaged/severed rope from the top side of the pulley rail. Remove the rope.

Attach the new rope. Feed one end of the new rope from the top of the pulley rail through the snap bushing that is closest to the middle of the rail.

Turn the rail over so the bottom is visible. Feed the end of the rope through the hole as shown below.

Next, a figure 8 knot will need to be made at the end of the rope.
· First, make a loop at the end of the rope.

· Next, twist the loop two times.

· Pull the short end of the rope through the loop.
· Pull the knot tight, leaving 1″ of rope at the end.

Remove the slack from the end of the rope.

Feed the other end of the rope through the snap bushing on other side of the pulley as shown below.

Pull the rope through far enough to attach the clamp.

Get the pieces for the ball clamp assembly: · Ball clamp top and bottom · Rubber bumper · Ball clamp swivel · 4mm flat washer

Put the rubber bumper on first.

Feed the rope through the top opening of the ball clamp.

Feed the rope through the small opening of the swivel.

Feed the rope through the 4mm washer.

Next, tie another figure 8 knot at the end of the rope (refer to step 15).

Pull the rope through the ball clamp assembly so that it is tight.

Pull the rope back through the rail so that the ball clamp is pulled up to the rail (as shown). Make sure the rope stays seated in the pulley.

Reattach the pulley rail to the weights. Put a pulley in the loop that comes out of the bottom of the pulley rail and place into the slot of the weight.

Put the pin through the weight and pulley.

Push the weight into the post so the pin does not fall out.

Repeat for the other weight.

Lift the end of the post up so that the weights pull the pulley rail to the retractor post.

Reattach the pulley rail to the retractor post.

Slide the pulley rail cover on to the pulley rail.

Using one screw on each side, reattach the pulley rail cover to the pulley rail.

Place rubber end caps over the ends of the pulley rail assembly.

Reattach the shroud cover to the pulley rail assembly.

Reinstall the completed post to the pedestal base.

Reinstall the charger bracket to the post.

Reinstall the VersiCharge back onto the post, adhering to the instructions in the VersiCharge Installation Manual.
