Verification of Package Contents / Handling Tips

  • Open the packaging carefully. Avoid fingerprints and sweat on optical surfaces.
  • Avoid dropping the microscope and accessories to prevent damage.
  • Remove all components from the packaging and verify integrity according to the delivery note. Depending on the model or accessories, the microscope may be packed in more than one box.
  • Handle the microscope and its accessories with care and protect them from strong impacts and vibrations at all times.
  • Keep the original packaging for storage purposes or to return the microscope to the supplier in case repair or inspection is needed.

Attention!  Never lift the microscope by the trinocular head or the coarse/fine focus knobs. This can damage the microscope.

Attention!  Always carry the microscope with both hands. To do this, hold the microscope with one hand at the bottom of the base while holding the stand with the other hand.

Location and Setup

Before mounting your microscope, choose a suitable location.

Place the microscope on a surface that meets the following criteria:

  • Flat/level
  • Stable/vibration-free
  • Non-combustible surface
  • Chemically and mechanically resistant

Configure the microscope so that…

  • … there is a distance of at least 10 cm around the device or other devices or the wall.
  • … it can be disconnected from the power source at any time.
  • … the power cable is clearly visible and freely accessible at all times. The power plug of the power cable must always be easily accessible as a disconnection device.
  • … all residual moisture has been completely removed before the first application.

Attention!  Do not expose the device to temperatures above 40°C! This can cause irreparable damage to optical and/or mechanical parts not covered by the warranty.

Attention!  Always use the supplied power adapter (5V/1A) for LED illumination. Using an improper power source can damage the microscope!

Microscope Adjustments

Power Supply and On/Off Switch

  1. To establish the power supply, insert the hollow plug (1) of the supplied USB power cable (2) into the power connection socket (3) on the back of the microscope. Depending on the local region, you may need to adjust the appropriate plug adapter (5) to the power adapter. Then, connect the power adapter (4) to a suitable power outlet (7) (max. 230V).
  2. Note:  Two additional plug adapters (6) are included for the power adapter. Attach the appropriate plug adapter for your socket to the power adapter (4).
  3. Attention!  Make sure the plug adapter is firmly connected to the power adapter and cannot detach! Never insert the plug adapter into the power outlet individually.
  4. To turn on the microscope, move the on/off switch (main switch) (4) to the “I” position.
  5. To turn off the microscope, move the on/off switch to the “0” position.

Placing the Sample

  1. Place a sample (1) that you want to observe on the glass object plate (2) and secure it in place with the clamps (3) if necessary.
  2. The two object plates serve as the platform for the microscope. In addition to the frosted glass object plate (1), a plastic object plate (2) with one black side and one white side is also included in the package. You can use this plastic plate to increase contrast depending on the object.

Adjusting the Illumination

  1. You have the option to select different illuminations for the object by adjusting the corresponding configuration on the reflected/transmitted light switch (1). In position “I”, only the reflected light unit is activated. The height of the incident light unit can be adjusted slightly to achieve the best possible illumination. In position “II”, both illumination units are turned on. In position “OFF”, the illumination is off.
  2. As the device is equipped with a continuously adjustable LED light (regulator) (4), optimal illumination of the object or sample observed is ensured.
  3. Attention!  Do not leave the regulator at maximum brightness for long periods of time. This shortens the lamp’s lifespan.

Adjusting the Observation Tube

  1. Establish the correct interpupillary distance for binocular observation by moving the eyepiece tubes (1) on the microscope head so that the right and left fields of view completely overlap to form a circular image.
  2. There are two pairs of eyepieces available: WF 10x / WF 20x. They can be easily replaced. To do this, loosen the locking screws of the eyepieces (1) with a small screwdriver. Make sure not to unscrew the screws too much. Once you have replaced the eyepieces, you can carefully tighten the screws again.
  3. Focus on a sample as sharply as possible using the coarse focus (1) and fine focus mechanism (2). Now correct the sharpness of the left eye by closing the right eye and adjusting the diopter adjustment ring (3) of the left eyepiece until the left eye sees the sample sharply. If necessary, proceed in the same way with the right eye.
  4. Note:  Each time you change the magnification using the zoom knobs, adjust the focus using the focus mechanisms.
  5. Note:  Diopter compensation is done using the adjustment ring on both eyepieces (3) and is used to compensate for myopia or hypermetropia (max. +/-8 dpt. difference between both eyes can be compensated). If the difference is greater or there is astigmatism, etc., we recommend observation with your prescribed glasses.
  6. Note:  Diopter compensation is possible with both eyepieces, but only one eye is adjusted if the difference is +/- 4 dpt. or less.
  7. The soft rubber eyecups (1) included in the package can be placed on the eyepieces. They protect eyeglass wearers from accidental contact with the eyepiece and prevent annoying reflections on the lens surface caused by ambient light. They also keep the eyes at the correct distance from the eyepiece lens.

Focusing the Sample

  1. Focus on the sample using the coarse focus mechanism (1) and fine focus mechanism (2).
  2. Manual zoom (1x to 4x) can be continuously adjusted between 1x and 4x by turning the zoom knobs (2).
  3. The total magnification is calculated by multiplying the zoom factor by the eyepiece value (10x or 20x).
  4. Note:  Additional lenses change the working distance, with 1.0 magnifications reducing the working distance.

Cleaning And Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Always keep the microscope clean. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the device. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • For the eyepieces and lenses, use a lens cleaning cloth or lens cleaning solution.

Maintenance

  • Regularly check the microscope for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Ensure that all moving parts are functioning smoothly and that there are no loose components.

Transport

  • Remove all loose components and the sample from the stage before transport.
  • Pack the microscope carefully (preferably in the original packaging) to prevent damage during transport.
