The venting action of the rangehood can create a low pressure (maximum allowed negative pressure in this case is 4 Pa / 0.04 mbar) which can impede the standard venting operation of these other devices, such as smoke up a chimney. As such harmful fumes or low oxygen levels can occur within these rooms. To prevent this, it is recommended to provide another alternate source of ventilation to allow fresh air to be drawn into these rooms.
