ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS / INFLATION

WARNING!

  • Do not use a sharp tool!
  • Any use of an air compressor will damage your product and automatically void all warranties.
  • Do not open the zippered closing that provides access to the inflatable inner chambers when the kayak is inflated.

For the first inflation and in order to get acquainted with your new product, inflate indoors at room temperature where the PVC will be soft and assembly process made easier. If it was stored at a temperature below 0°C / 32°F, leave it at 20°C / 68°F for 12 hours before unfolding. Inflate it with a Sevylor® inflator or any inflator designed for kayaks, pool floats, air beds, camping mattresses, and other low pressure inflatables. These types of inflators will have a hose and adapters to fit the valves on this product.

Choose a smooth and clean surface to unfold your kayak.

  1. Fix the directional fin to the bottom, folding the outer hull. Insert the ends of the fin into each of the holders provided and tauten the outer hull as much as possible to secure it. This operation is not possible when the kayak has been inflated. The curve of the fin must be towards the stern of the kayak.

  2. Your kayak is equipped with :

  3. Boston valve(s) and mini Boston valve (please see opposite figure) for inflating bottom and side chambers. Unscrew the valve cap (1). Screw the valve insert (2) onto its base (3) and check that the valve cap stays accessible. Insert the pump hose end piece and inflate it until you will reach the required pressure (see point 3). After inflation fit all the valve(s) cap tight (clockwise).
Note : A slight air-leak before screwing the valve(s) cap is normal. Only the valve(s) cap can ensure final AIR TIGHTNESS.

  4. Mini double-lock valve(s) for inflating seats. See drawing on page 2: Open the valve (A). To begin inflation, open external stopper and pull to extend out (B). Insert nozzle of inflation device into the extended valve and turn on or begin pumping (C). To close valve: push in with inflation device until stopper has been depressed, sealing internal stopper (D). Remove device and close external stopper. Valve should appear depressed into itself (E).

  5. Inflate the kayak in the order of inflation as shown on the capacity plate printed on the kayak (see also figure # 1 –numbering of the valves).

  6. Max. air pressure: The correct pressure for this item is : 0.1 bar/1.5 PSI (= 100 mbar) ) for side chambers, 0.06 bar/0.9 PSI (= 60 mbar) for bottom chamber. Do not exceed it. Check the pressure using the pressure gauge (**) supplied with your kayak. Overpressure: deflate until you reach the recommended pressure. Drop of pressure: inflate again slightly.

WARNING!

  • If you leave your product exposed to the hot sun check the pressure and deflate it slightly, otherwise the material might be overstretched.
  • The ambient temperature affects the tube’s internal pressure: a variation of 1°C causes a variation of the pressure in the tube of +/- 4 mbar.

REMOVABLE FIN
Fitting of the fin is recommended whenever you use your kayak in deep water (lake, sea, etc.), where it helps keep the kayak in a straight line. Fitting of the fin is not recommended for use in shallow water or white water. The fin would be likely to damage the bottom of the kayak in shallow water and would reduce manoeuvrability in white water. The bow and stern lines of the kayak have been designed to ensure good handling without the fin.

ADJUSTABLE INFLATABLE BUCKET SEATS
The bucket seat can be adjusted to meet your needs. Adjust the belt lengths using the buckles at each end. You can also adjust the position of the seat by moving it in the raised area; the raised area and the lower part of the seat have hook-and-loop strips for easy adjustment.

  • Before using the product, please check it carefully.
  • A bad distribution of the load can destabilize the kayak and may result in a loss of control.
  • Do not overestimate your strength, your endurance or your abilities.
  • Never underestimate the forces of nature.
  • Always wear a Personal Flotation Device approved by proper authorities.
  • Do not exceed the authorized number of persons or weight.

MAINTENANCE: DEFLATING – CLEANING – FOLDING – STORAGE

  1. Remove oars/paddles and other accessories.

  2. To deflate, unscrew the valve insert and open the valve(s) cap.

  3. Mini double lock™ valve: For deflation, open external stopper and pull the valve to extend it out so that the air can escape (see the figure on page 2 / F).

  4. Clean and check the item as well as all the accessories after each use. Rinse it thoroughly making sure to remove any residues of salt if used in salt water. Use a mild soapy solution, do not use detergents or any type of silicone-based products. Make sure that the product is completely dry before putting it away.

  5. You can fold your boat to carry it as a backpack. Refer to the illustrations on page 3 of this manual.
Folding your boat: BPS Backpack System

  6. AdventureTM Plus model : Detach the aft spray skirt retention cords, revealing the grey and black straps, then unhook the 2 fastening points.

  7. Fully unfold the “BPS” starps, placing the grey straps under the black straps.

  8. Fold the sides of the boat inwards. You can place the deflated seats on the back of the folded boat .

  9. Roll up the folded boat, starting with the end opposite the valves (so that remaining air in the chambers can be forced out). Start over again if you see that there is still air in the air chambers.

  10. Pass each black strap through a loop.

  11. Locate the grey straps and pass each grey strap through a grey loop, then fold them back on their hook-and-loop fasteners. You can now carry your boat like a backpack. If you want to carry your boat by its carrying handle, fasten the grey straps on the hook-and-loop fasteners.

  12. When storing your inflatable, keep it in a clean and dry place that is not affected from major variations in temperature and other damaging factors. You may store it deflated and rolled up in a bag or assembled and lightly inflated. Store it away from rodents.

CAUTION!
Water will enter between the outer hull and inside chambers, this is O.K; however, whenever you take this item out of the water and deflate it, allow for it to air out and dry, neither the skin/hull or the inside chambers will suffer from water damage, but stagnant water could cause mildew and foul odor.

HOW TO REPAIR SMALL PUNCTURES

You can repair small punctures with the included repair kit (Note: Glue not included in USA). Please note that in order for the repair to be successful, the humidity level should be less than 60 %, temperature between 65°F/77°F or 18°C/25°C. Avoid carrying out repairs in the rain or in direct sunlight. To access the chambers, open the appropriate zip fastener. The zip fastener for the main chamber and the safety chamber is located inside the kayak. The zip fastener for access to the floor chamber is located on the bottom at the bow and the stern.

Check that the tube is fully deflated and lies flat.

  1. Draw the shape of the patch exactly where it will be applied, cut a round patch at least 2” / 5 cm larger than the cut/damaged area.
  2. Clean the damaged area and the corresponding side of the patch with a grease remover of the alcohol type and allow for it to dry for 5 minutes.
  3. Apply 3 thin layers of glue on both the patch and the damaged area, allow for it to dry for 5 minutes between layers until the glue feels tacky.
  4. When the third layer of glue is dry, apply the patch without pressing and adjust the positioning if required, press the air bubbles which may have formed under the patch by smoothing the patch with a round object such as a spoon, do this procedure by starting in the center of the patch towards the outside, clean the excess glue with a solvent.

Drying: 12 hours.

WARNING!

  • Perform all of your repairs in a well-ventilated area.
  • Avoid inhaling glue vapours or swallowing.
  • Avoid contact with the skin or the eyes.
  • Keep all repair materials (glue, solvents, etc.) away from children’s reach.

Note : The repairs on the weldings must not be glued. Only the manufacturer of the boat can perform the repairs on the weldings.
