GASPRO 7402 Propane Infrared Grill
About Infrared Grill
- Most of the time when you’re learning to grill or thinking about buying an outdoor grill, the big question is whether to go with charcoal or gas.
- Each has its pros and cons, so the choice often comes down to personal preference and what style of outdoor grilling you plan to do most.
- But there’s a third choice: infrared grills. Infrared grills work differently than the other two types – most notably, infrared grills are capable of generating significantly higher heat than either a charcoal or a conventional gas grill.
How Do Infrared Grills Work?
- Infrared radiation is part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is invisible to the human eye. At very short wavelengths — like with your infrared remote – this energy can’t be seen or felt. But at longer wavelengths, infrared can be felt in the form of heat. When you walk barefoot on hot sand at the beach, the heat you’re feeling is the infrared radiation emitted by the sand (which itself has been heated by the sun).
- When it comes to grilling, that’s all infrared radiation is: heat waves that are emitted by a hot object that has itself been heated by a propane or natural gas-powered heat element.
- The hot object in an infrared grill is usually a piece of steel, ceramic or glass, with a gas element underneath it.
- The difference between infrared and conventional grilling therefore is that conventional grilling first heats the air, and then cooks the food; whereas infrared grills don’t produce hot air, they simply produce heat. As a result, infrared grills are capable of emitting much higher amounts of heat directly onto the food. This is why infrared grills can produce temperatures of up to 1,500°F.
- Moreover, it only takes two to three minutes for infrared grills to start producing these temperatures, which saves a lot of time with preheating.
- Thanks to their mega-high temperatures, infrared grills cook very fast. And for some types of grilling, that happens to be exactly what you want. The most notable example of this is steak.
- Known to all, the key to cooking a steak is cooking as quickly as possible over as high a heat as possible. The hotter and quicker, the better, because steaks get tougher if they sit over the heat longer.
- Your goal is to sear the outside and produce a flavorful brown crust while ensuring that the interior remains tender and juicy.
- And an infrared grill – with its cooking temperature approaching 1,000 °F – happens to be perfect for that. It might only take a minute on each side and even less for thin cuts like skirt steak.
- Another advantage of infrared grills is that they aren’t prone to flare-ups since anything that drips from the food is instantly vaporized when it hits the glass or ceramic.
- In a word, infrared grills are much more efficient and cook much more quickly and cleanly than conventional grills.

Lighting Your Grill
- As the grill is assembled and propane is connected, there’s only one more step left before you give a full play of your grilling skills: to ignite the grill.
Igniter Power Supply

- Open the slot by turning its cover anticlockwise put a AAA battery in with its positive end facing outside and close the cover.
- Then press the controller knob, if you hear a continuous clicking sound, the igniter is successfully powered.
Grill Igniting WARNING
- Make sure the front panel is open before igniting.
- Do not put your hands inside the grill chamber to test if it’s lit or heated.
If you are using a 1lb propane cylinder,
- Press the controller knob in and turn it from “OFF” to “ “, and keep pressing it until the igniter is lit, and keep pressing for another 8 seconds to ensure the igniter stays lit.
- Release the knob and turn it slowly to the “LO” position to light the burner. As the burner is lit, turn the knob to the “HI” position to offer continuous heating.
If you are using 20 lbs propane tank,
- Turn the tank valve fully on to ensure a sufficient propane supply.

- Release the knob and turn it slowly to the “LO” position to light the burner. As the burner is lit, turn the knob to the “HI” position to offer continuous heating.
ATTENTION
- If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds, turn the controller off, wait 5 minutes, and repeat the lighting procedure.
Grilling Your Foods
- WARNING
- Preheat the grill for around 5 minutes before grilling.
- Always keep the grease tray in place while grilling.
- Always wear the provided gloves while grilling.
- Always monitor the grill closely while grilling.
- Turn the knob to “LO” or “OFF” if flare-ups intensify.
Steps to grill delicious meat:
- Lay the meat in the middle of the grid with tongs and push it into the grill chamber with the wood handle hook. Place the meat at a height that is about 0.8″ (20 mm) away from the ceramic burner plate to ensure that the meat surface sears at maximum temperature. Make sure that the meat does not touch the temperature sensor otherwise the gas feed will shut off and the burner will go out.
- Pull the meat out and flip it over to the other side with the grilling shovel as soon as it has achieved the desired browning. This generally occurs in 45 seconds to one minute and 15 seconds, however, it mostly depends on the quality and freshness of the meat, as well as the ambient temperature and the temperature of the meat at the start of grilling.
- ( Tips: To get crisp and well-seared meat with the best flavour, it is recommended that meat should be kept at room temperature before grilling.)
- Take out the meat when – according to your taste – it is grilled enough and cool it off a little bit, then put it back again to grill each side for about 10-15 seconds, which highly helps to make it more crisp.
SHUTTING OFF
- After each grilling, please always shut your grilling devices off! To do that, first, turn the controller knob clockwise to the “ ” position, then press and turn it to the “OFF” position. Second, turn the propane supply off immediately.
Caring For Your Grill WARNING
- All cleaning, transporting and storing should be carried out only when the grill is cool, the gas supply is stopped and/or the propane cylinder/tank is disconnected.
Clean
- Clean the grill and its parts thoroughly after each use. Using lukewarm water will make the cleaning a lot easier.
- The grids, grease tray and all other parts can simply be cleaned in the dishwasher. Once done cleaning, wipe the grill and parts with a soft dry cloth/towel.
WARNING
- Hot fat in the grease tray can ignite or lead to burns on one’s skin. Do not let the fat splash while it’s hot.
Other than a dishwasher, some other things you potentially need for cleaning:
- mild dish soap
- nylon cleaning pad
- wire brush
- putty knife
- scraper
- towel/cloth
Transport
- Remove all parts such as the grease tray, grid and griddle, and pack them with the grill and other essential accessories that come with the grill before transporting.
- It is recommended that the original package be used for packing.
- If another package is used, make sure everything is packed safely to avoid any damage.
Storage
- Keep your infrared grill dry in a dry place.
- You may need to cover it properly or cap every ventilation opening or gas input hole on it to ensure that they are kept free of insects or dirt. Check your grill regularly if you are not using it for a certain period.
- When your grill wears out and you want to dispose of it, we encourage a responsible approach that will yield safe and environmentally friendly results.
- Before you dispose of an old grill, be sure to clean it as thoroughly as possible of all food debris.
