Error code 775
This means there is a issue between your receiver and satellite dish.
Confirm receiver type
To make sure we give you the right info, let’s check if you have one of these receivers:
If you aren’t sure what kind of receiver you have, look for a sticker on the bottom of your receiver.

If you don’t have one of these receivers, you’ll want to Check receiver location and the status of your SWiM device. Check the bottom of this post for help with SWiM devices.
For devices pictured above, begin troubleshooting:
Check your cable
Loose or disconnected cables can cause error 775.
1. Make sure the SAT IN coax cable is securely connected at the wall and the back of the receiver
2. See a picture of what this should look like:
Try a reset
Use your DIRECTV remote to select Menu, then Settings, then Reset Options, then Reset this receiver.
Or
Find the red reset button on your receiver and press it once. It’s usually on the side of your receiver but may bebehind an access card door.
Wait for your receiver to restart and begin playing video again.
SWiM Device Help
When DirecTV installed your service, they applied settings to this receiver. DTV selected those settings based on location and ability to connect to the satellite dish.
Proper installation also includes a SWiM device behind the receiver which connects it to the dish.
Locate the SWiM device
This receiver has a SWiM device that connects your receiver to your dish. Let’s make sure it’s working properly.
To locate the SWiM device:
1. On your main receiver, follow the satellite (coax)cable from the back of the receiver to the wall
2. Look for a small black or gray rectangular device that says “SWiM ODU” on it
3. The SWiM device will have a second satellite (coax) cable that connect it to the dish outside. It also has a power cable that’s plugged into an outlet
Verify cables & connections
SWiM – Green Light / Blinking Green Light
A solid green LED confirms the SWiM has power.
Let’s check your other connections:
1. Make sure the cables in the SWiM secure and tight
2. Confirm the cables are in good shape and have no visible damage. Need a replacement cable? Contact DirecTV.
3. Try watching DIRECTV to see if the error is gone
Restart the SWiM device
Restarting your SWiM device can help resolve your error.
Here is how:
1. Unplug the SWiM’s power cable
2. Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in
3. Try watching DIRECTV to see if error 775 goes away
SWiM No Green Light
Check power to the SWiM
Looks like the SWiM is off. Let’s troubleshoot to see if the problem is the SWiM or the power outlet.
Here’s how to check:
1. Make sure the power cable is securely plugged in at both ends
2. Test the outlet or power strip by plugging a device that is known to work, such as a lamp
3. If the outlet is connected to a wall switch, make sure the switch is in the ON position
4. If it’s a GFCI outlet, reset the outlet
5. If you’re using a smart power strip, disable the auto-off function or switch to a regular power strip
6. Try plugging the SWiM device into a different power outlet
When you see a green light, you have power.
