Check out these important safety instructions to keep yourself and your devices safe.
-
Before using the converter/adapter, check the product you intend to connect to the converter/adaptor for the manufacturer’s voltage and wattage rating, which should be located on the product.
Caution: Adapters alone do not convert voltage. To avoid damaging your device, use adaptors with the voltage converter when appropriate. -
The converter is designed to be used only for 10 minutes or less.
-
Do not leave the converter/adapter in the power outlet when not in use.
-
Do not continue to use the converter/adapter if it is not working properly, has been damaged, or dropped in water
-
This converter should be used with single-voltage appliances.
-
No grounding. This product is for use with unearthed or double-insulated appliances only.
Warning: This product is intended for adult use. This product is NOT intended for use by unsupervised children. Choose proper settings and plug in this product before directly supervising children using devices connected to this product. Do not use the converter for electronic controlled appliances.
MAKING SURE YOUR DEVICE IS COMPATIBLE
-
Determine the voltage of the power outlet you want to use. See the table on the back for common voltages.
-
Check the voltage of the device you want to connect to the power outlet.
-
Compare the power outlet voltage to your device’s voltage, then use the following table to decide whether to use an adapter plug only or an adaptor plug with the converter.
Note: The voltage of some devices will be a range. If your power outlet voltage is in the range of your device’s voltage (for example, a 120–240V device and a 240V power outlet), you do not need the converter.
Notes:
• Use only an adapter plug for dual-voltage devices (those listed as 110 V/220 V AC, 120 V/240 V AC).
• Use only an adapter plug for devices such as laptop computers and battery chargers because they automatically adjust to 110V or 220V power. -
Check the wattage of your device.
If you use an adapter plug with the converter:
USING YOUR CONVERTER/ADAPTOR
Warning: Make sure that you have picked the correct converter/adapter combination for your device before use. An incorrect combination could damage your device. For indoor use only.
Using only an adapter plug:
- Make sure that your device is compatible and that you do not need the converter before use. Incorrect use could damage your device.
- Find the power outlet you want to connect your device to in the table to the right, then select the appropriate adapter plug.
- Connect the adapter plug to your device, then connect it to a power outlet.
Using an adapter plug with the converter:
- Make sure that your device is compatible and that you need the converter before use. Incorrect use could damage your device.
- Check the device’s rating plate for watts and select the correct watt setting on the converter.
- Find the power outlet you want to connect your device to in the table to the right, then select the appropriate adapter plug. V3 ENGLISH 17-0641
- Connect the adapter plug to the converter.
- Connect your device to the converter, then connect it to a power outlet.
Using the low setting (devices that use less than 25W):
The low setting can be used for long periods of time on products with electronic circuitry that are 0–25 W (for example, battery chargers and radios).
Using the high setting (devices that use 26–1875 W):
DO NOT use the HIGH setting for electronic circuitry products. The high setting is designed to be for 10 minutes or less.
TROUBLESHOOTING
My converter/adapter or device is humming
• It is normal to hear a humming sound from your converter/adapter or device.
My device stopped working
• If your device has a built-in thermostat, it may have shut off prematurely.
• Make sure that you have selected the correct settings.
• Wait for your device to cool down, then resume normal operation.
My device is working slowly
• Some devices may operate slower in foreign countries that use 50 Hz of
current (the U.S. operates on 60 Hz).
I don’t know my device’s voltage or wattage
• Check on your device, its power adapter, or in its manual.
• To calculate wattage, multiple voltage by amps (for example, 120V × 3 A =
360 W).
• Contact the device’s manufacturer.
