SET UP GUIDE
MODEL: 512-1422BK

POWER UP

  1. Insert 2-AA batteries into your Outdoor Sensor.
  2. Insert 2-AA batteries Into your Atomic Clock.
  3. Enter the Settings Menu to adjust your time and date.
  4. Once the sensor is reading to your clock, place the senor outside in a shaded location. View our sensor mounting video here: bit.ly/th_sensor_mounting

ATOMIC TIME

  • The clock will search for the Atomic Time Signal at power up and at UTC 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00.
  • The Atomic Time Signal Icon will flash while searching and be solid when it has connected.
  • From the normal time display, hold the (-) MINUS button to manually start or stop a search for the WWVB time signal. For information about WWVB

SETTINGS MENU

  1. Hold the SET button until the display changes to enter the Settings Menu.
  2. Press and release the + or – buttons to adjust values. Hold to adjust quickly.
  3. Press and release the SET button to confirm values and move to the next setting or exit the menu.
Settings Menu Order: Time Zones
• Atomic Time ON/OFF AST = Atlantic
• Time Zone EST = Eastern
• Daylight Saving Time ON/OFF CST = Central
• 12/24 Hour Time Format MST = Mountain
• Hour PST = Pacific
• Minutes AKT = Alaska
• Year HAT = Hawaii

• Month
• Date

Notes:

  • Atomic Time: If Atomic OFF is selected, the menu will skip the DST and Time Zone settings and move straight to the 12/24-Hour Time Format setting.
  • Daylight Saving Time: If you live in an area that follows DST, keep thissetting ON. If your area does not follow DST, turn this setting OFF.
  • Weekday: Your weekday display will adjust automatically once you have your Year, Month, and Date settings set correctly.

TIME ALARM

Set Alarm:

  1. Hold the ALARM button until the letters “AL” show in the weekday area.
  2. Press and release the + or – button to adjust the values. Hold to adjust quickly.
  3. Press and release the ALARM button to confirm and move to the next item or exit.

Silence a Sounding Alarm: Press any button except SNOOZE to silence the alarm for 24 hours.
Activate/Deactivate Alarm:

  • Press and release the ALARM button to view the Alarm Time. Press and release again to activate or deactivate the alarm.
  • The Alarm Icon will show when alarm is active.
    Snooze: When the alarm is active, press the SNOOZE button to silence the alarm for 10 minutes. Zz will show.

Note: The alarm will sound with increasing frequency for two minutes,then shut off automatically if not silenced.

FORECAST ICONS

  • The forecast icons use the clock’s internal barometer to predict conditions to come within the next 12 hours.
  • Allow 7-10 days for station calibration for most accurate forecasts.

FORECAST TREND ARROWS

The Forecast Trend Arrows indicate the rising and falling of atmospheric pressure in your area over the past 3 hours.
Pressure has risen over the past 3 hours.
Pressure has been steady over the past 3 hours.
Pressure has fallen over the past 3 hours.

FAHRENHEIT or CELSIUS

Press and release the SET button to switch between Fahrenheit or Celsius Temperature Display. Your clock will stay on the selection.
TEMPERATURE TREND ARROWS
Both the Indoor and Outdoor Temperature values have Trend Arrows to indicate changes (2°F/1°C or more) over the past one hour period.
Temperature has risen over the past hour.
Temperature has been steady over the past hour.
Temperature has fallen over the past hour.

LOW BATTERY INDICATOR

  • Low Battery Icon by Outdoor Temperature, replace batteries in the Outdoor Sensor.
  • Low Battery Icon by Indoor Temperature, replace batteries in the Clock.

BUTTON FUNCTIONS

SET| Press and release to select Fahrenheit or Celsius Temperature Display.
Hold until the display changes to enter the Settings Menu.
Settings: Press and release to move to next menu item.

+| Hold until the display changes to search for Outdoor Sensor.
Settings: Press to adjust settings. Hold to adjust quickly.
–| Hold to search for Atomic Time Signal.
Settings: Press to adjust settings. Hold to adjust quickly.
SNOOZE| When alarm sound, press and relase to silence alarm for 10 minutes.
ALARM| Hold until the display changes to enter the Alarm Settings.
Press and release to view alarm time. Press again to activate/deactivate alarm.

SENSOR WEATHER SHIELD

  • The Sensor Weather Shield (sold separately) is designed to protect your outdoor sensor from rain and snow.
  • This shield will offer limited protection from the sun’s heat.

SEARCH FOR OUTDOOR SENSOR

If you are seeing dashes for your outdoor readings, please try the following steps:

  1. Hold the PLUS button to search for your outdoor sensor. The Reception Indicator will begin to animate.
  2. If after 3 minutes the sensor still isn’t connected, bring the sensor inside next to the display and remove power from both the sensor and clock.
  3. Press any button on the clock 20 times and leave the parts sit for a few moments with the power off.
  4. Install a new set of alkaline batteries into the sensor, then into your clock. For additional help visit: bit.ly/basic_restart
  5. If your outdoor data is still not appearing after these steps, please contact our support staff via the links below.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

When batteries of different brand or type are used together, or new and old batteries are used together, some batteries may be over-discharged due to a difference of voltage or capacity. This can result in venting, leakage, and rupture and may cause personal injury.

  • Do not mix Alkaline, Lithium, standard, or rechargeable battteries.
  • Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended use.
  • Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time, taking care not to mix old and new ones, or batteries of different types.
  • Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
  • Ensure the batteries are installed correctly with regard to polarity (+ and -).
  • Remove batteries from product during periods of non-use. Battery leakage can cause corrosion and damage to this product.
  • Remove used batteries promptly.
