Setup MultiSensor 6 with Smart Home Hub Print

When paired with Aeotec Smart Home Hub and the SmartThings software that the hub uses, MultiSensor 6 user guide will offer the following features:
- Motion Sensor
- Temperature and Humidity
- Illuminance
- Power souce
- Tamper Alert
- UV index
- Battery level
Steps to connect MultiSensor 6 to Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).
- Open SmartThings Connect
- Select “+” located at the top right corner (second icon from the right)
- Select “Device“
- Search “Aeotec” then select Aeotec
- Select Multipurpose sensor
- Select MultiSensor 6
- Follow its steps to pairing
- Press Start
- Set the hub that is pairing this
- Set the Room
- Tap Next
- Open the battery cover of your MultiSensor 6.
- Now tap the Action Button on MultiSensor 6.
- Now wait about a minute and your device should show up as “ Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor “, feel free to rename this.
Configure your MultiSensor 6.
You can configure how often its sensors will be reported, the sensitivity of your motion sensor, and when motion sensor will timeout and allow for retrigger.
- Find your MultiSensor 6 in your SmartThings dashboard.
- Tap on your MultiSensor 6 to open the device page.
- At the top right, tap More Options (3 dots).
- Tap Settings.
- You can configure these 3 settings:
- Motion Sensor Delay Time – Allows you to set the timeout of motion sensor.
- Motion Sensor Sensitivity – Sets how far/sensitive your motion sensor is.
- Report Interval – Sets the timeframe in which all other sensors are reported (temperature, humidity, light, UV).
Automate with MultiSensor 6.
You may use any of the sensors on this device to control lighting, switches, dimmers, or other connected devices in your Smart Home Hub.
- Tap the Main Menu at the top left.
- Tap +.
- Under IF, tap +.
- Tap Device status.
- Tap on your MultiSensor 6.
- Select one of the available options to be used in an automation:
- Motion sensor
- Temperature
- Input a range between 14 – 122 degrees
- Determine if you want it to be
- When temperature matches
- When equal or above
- When equal or below
- Humidity
- Input a range between 0 – 100 %
- Determine if you want it to be
- When temperature matches
- When equal or above
- When equal or below
- Illuminance
- Input a range between 0 – 100000 lux
- Determine if you want it to be
- When temperature matches
- When equal or above
- When equal or below
- Tamper alert
- UV index
- Input a range between 0 – 11 UV
- Determine if you want it to be
- When temperature matches
- When equal or above
- When equal or below
- Battery
- Input a range between 0 – 100 %
- Determine if you want it to be
- When temperature matches
- When equal or above
- When equal or below
- Tap Done.
- Determine if you want it to trigger after a certain amount of time in that state using “Stays this status for how long?”
- If enabled, enter 1, 5, or 10 minutes, or a customized time frame.
- Tap Save.
- Tap + under Then.
- Select what you want this automation to do based on the condition you set from the MultiSensor.
How to remove MultiSensor 6 from Aeotec Smart Home Hub (SmartThings).
These steps can be performed even if MultiSensor 6 are not yet paired to your Aeotec Smart Home Hub.
- Open SmartThings Connect
- Find your hub in the device list, then select it
- Tap More Options (3 dot icon) located at the top right corner.
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap General Exclusion
- Open the battery cover of your MultiSensor 6.
- Now tap the Action Button on MultiSensor 6.
- SmartThings should confirm that it has removed a device.
- Now try the pairing steps at the top again.
Troubleshooting
1. Having issues pairing your device?

Move your Sensor within 4 – 10 ft of your Aeotec Smart Home Hub, its possible that it is too far.

Remove power from Aeotec Smart Home Hub for 6 minutes, then power it up again.

Remove power from MultiSensor 6 for 1 minute, then power it up again.

Try factory resetting or excluding your MultiSensor 6.
- Exclude first in case the device actually paired to your hub otherwise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove.
- Perform a manual factory reset
- Remove the cover of your MultiSensor 6
- Press and hold the Action Button for 20 seconds on MultiSensor 6.
- If successful, the LED should cycle rainbow colors for at least 10 seconds to indicate it is ready to be paired.
2. MultiSensor6 showing up as a generic device?
- Check if SmartThings picked up all of the correct information, follow the below steps to check:
- Login to: https://account.smartthings.com/
- Click on “ My Locations “, then select the location of your hub.
- Click on “ My Devices “
- Click on the newly created device
- Look for “ Raw Description ” and see if there are any values that display as 00, 00.0, or 0000, this may be a key indicator that this device did not pair properly.
- If it does show 00, 0000, or 00.0 values, exclude and then re-include your MultiSensor 6.
- If it contains values without 00 or 0000, then change the device handler manually
- Scroll to the bottom and click “ Edit “
- Look for T ype , and click on the list, then in alphabetical order,
* For MultiSensor 6 (ZW100), select “ **Aeotec Multisensor 6″**.
- Click on Update
