My thermostat is set to cool, but my heat pump isn’t coming on to cool.

If your thermostat is newly installed and the heat pump worked for cooling with the previous thermostat, check the following:
1. Verify that the thermostat is set to cool and is calling for cooling,
usually indicated by the words “cool on,” a snowflake icon, or a shimmering
snowflake icon. If the room temperature is below the cool set point, the
thermostat display should indicate a call for cooling
2. Confirm that the circuit breakers are on.
3. If you installed the thermostat yourself, ensure that the wires are
matched correctly and securely connected at the thermostat. Also verify that
the thermostat is correctly configured to control a heat pump. The
installation instructions for your thermostat show these settings.
4. If the heat pump runs in heat mode with a call for cooling, verify that
the configuration setting for the changeover is set correctly for your system.
The configuration settings are shown in the installation guide for your
thermostat. If you do not know whether your heat pump uses the changeover
valve in heat or cool mode, call your professional HVAC contractor or the
manufacturer of your heat pump.
5. If there are not separate wire connections to R and Rc on the thermostat,
those terminals need a jumper. Some models use a small metal jumper and other
models have a switch that needs to be set to “R”.
If the same issue occurred with the previous thermostat, then the problem is most likely with your heat pump. Call a professional HVAC contractor if the above steps don’t solve the issue.
Why is my thermostat set to Heating, but I feel Cool or Mild Air and not
heat? (Or Why is my thermostat set to Cooling but I feel Heat or Mild air and not cooling?)
Check your jumper selector switch. If you have a wire in the RC terminal and no wire in the R terminal, move the RC wire to the R terminal and move the jumper selector switch up to the “1 Wire” position. If you have a wire in the R terminal and a wire in the Rc terminal, the jumper selector switch must be in the “2 Wire” position.
Check your wiring. If you have a heat pump, you will not use a wire in the W terminal. Move the W wire to the W2 or Aux terminal. (W controls your first stage of heating for Gas/Oil/Electric systems. O/B and Y control your first stage heating for heat pump systems. Backup heat sources must be connected to the W2, Aux, or E terminal for proper functionality.)
Check your configuration. Most commonly, O/B is energized in Cooling (O on cool). For Rheem or Ruud brand heat pumps, the O/B must energize on heating (B on Heat).
Is the TH4210D, TH4110D, TH4110B heat pump compatible?
Yes. The TH4210D, TH4110D, TH4110B will work with a heat pump. The TH4210D will also work with a heat pump with backup.
How do I change between heating and cooling on the TH4210D, TH4110D,
TH4110B?
Locate the selector switch on the bottom of the thermostat labeled Heating, off, Cooling. Move the selector switch to the desired mode.
How do I enable auto change over on the TH4210D, TH4110D, TH4110B?
The TH4210D, TH4110D, TH4110B does not have an automatic change over feature. Select Heating, off, or cooling with the selector switch to choose the mode you desire.
Why is my TH4210D, TH4110D, TH4110B showing an error message Replace Batt?
What does it mean?
Replace the Battery.
Why is my thermostat set to Heating, but I feel Cool or Mild Air and not
heat? (Or Why is my thermostat set to Cooling but I feel Heat or Mild air and not cooling?)
