Horizon is a new TV experience that offers you unlimited entertainment. Replay, TV Guide, Apps, OnDemand and much more – discover the exciting functions that Horizon has to offer.

Overview without separate modem (Connect Box)
For the Connect Box please use the Quick Install Guide Connect Box & Horizon HD Recorder (supplied with the Connect Box).

INSTALLATION
If your remote control does not react, please follow the instructions on page 8, paragraph A to establish a connection with your Horizon HD Recorder.
Internet, telephone, Wi-Fi and some TV functions are switched off when the «eco» energy saving mode is selected. So that all of these functions are active at all times, please select the YES option on your TV screen during installation. You can of course change this option at any time under OPTIONS.

Press MENU on your remote
control.
Go to LIBRARY / APPS / FEATURED and click on the «ACTIVATE REPLAY» app.
Read the terms of use and confirm by pressing «ACTIVATE».
Important: Please note that the Replay function for a programme only becomes available from the point at which you activate Replay. This means that programmes will only be recorded once the service has been activated.
Some channels may take up to 30 minutes to activate.
The following message is displayed until activation is complete: «Please
contact us to subscribe to this channel»
Installation of telephone and Internet (without Connect Box)
INTERNET
If you have subscribed to Internet from UPC and have not received a separate modem from UPC, please set up your Internet connection now.
PHONE
If you have subscribed to fixed network telephony from UPC and do not have a Connect Box (or separate modem) from UPC, connect your telephone now.
Locate the Horizon WLAN on your computer, smartphone or tablet. You will find the access data on the bottom of your Horizon HD Recorder. When entering please observe upper and lower case letters.

Pairing your remote control
WITH HORIZON HD RECORDER
During the installation process, the remote control will automatically connect to the Horizon HD Recorder (so-called pairing). This operation occurs in the background when you select your preferred language from the menu during the initial installation process.
If the connection is not made automatically, please proceed as follows:
1. Make sure that your Horizon box is turned on and that there are no
obstacles between the Horizon box and the remote control.
2. Turn the remote control with the keyboard side facing up (see
picture).
3. Press and hold the pairing key for 10 seconds aiming at the
Horizon box.
4. If pairing is successful you will see a notification on your TV set.
WITH TV
Pair the Horizon remote control to your television to switch it on or off and to adjust the volume.

2. Switch off the Horizon box.
3. Switch on your television.
4. First, press both the VOL ∨ button and the TV Source button
for 5 seconds until the TV ON/OFF button flashes 3 times.
5. Enter the TV brand code via the keypad within 10 seconds.
6. Point the Horizon remote control at your TV set and hold down the TV
ON/OFF button for up to 1 min. until the TV turns off. If your TV does not
turn off, repeat steps 2 to 5.
7. As soon as your TV has switched itself off, again press the VOL ∨
button and the TV Source button until the TV ON/OFF button flashes 3
times.
ATTENTION: If you wait too long after the TV has switched itself off, an incorrect code may be memorised. If this is the case, please repeat the procedure.

Switches the Horizon box on or off (Standby)

Opens the main menu
9 ARROW BUTTONS
Navigates within the menu or changes channel
10 OK
Acknowledges a menu selection or opens the action menu
11 BACK
Displays the channel bar or jumps a step back in the menu
12 LIVE TV
If you want to exit the menus or onscreen functions quickly and return to full
screen TV, press the Live TV key. With this key, you can also tune to the last
viewed channel.
13 CH+/ CH –
Selects a channel with a higher or lower number
14 TEXT
Opens teletext
Touch BACK to cancel teletext
15 STOP
Stops the current recording
16 FAST FORWARD
Fast forwards during a film, recording or a live programme being played back
with a time delay
17 REC
Records the selected programme
18 REWIND
Rewinds during a film, recording or a live programme
19 PLAY / PAUSE
Pauses or resumes the current programme or video

The remote control has a sensor which detects which side is facing up and will
activate only the keys on that side. In case you want to use the keyboard side
while this side is facing down you can press the lock key to activate all
keyboard keys while they are facing down

CAPS: trigger the letter to appear in capital, press it a second time to
de-activate
FN (GREEN): press and hold this key while pressing a key with a green
character to activate the green character
FN (YELLOW): press and hold this key while pressing a key with a yellow
character to activate the yellow character

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF HORIZON
CHANGE CHANNEL
A FAST ZAPPING
Press the CH+ / CH- buttons during a current programme to switch channel.
B CHANNEL LIST
Press the up-down arrow buttons during a current programme for 2 seconds
to activate the channel list. Go to the required channel and press OK to
select it.
C PICTURE-IN-PICTURE PREVIEW
Press BACK during a current programme to activate the channel bar. Afterwards
you can scroll between channels by using the up-down arrow buttons. Press OK
to acknowledge the new channel.
RECORD PROGRAMME
A REC BUTTON
Press REC on the Horizon remote control during a current programme. Select
CONFIRM RECORDING to start recording. Set a customised time buffer before and
after the programme under ADD EXTRA TIME.
B ACTION MENU
Press OK during a current programme to activate the action menu. Select RECORD
and then CONFIRM RECORDING to start recording. Set a customised time buffer
before and after the programme under ADD EXTRA TIME.
C TV GUIDE
Select the required programme in the TV and press OK to open the action menu.
Select RECORD and then CONFIRM RECORDING to set the recording. Set a
customised time buffer before and after the programme under ADD EXTRA TIME.
ORDER ONDEMAND FILMS
Press MENU and select OnDemand.
Select the required category, locate the film of your choice and press OK to
open the action menu. Select RENT and then enter your PIN to order the film.
The default PIN is 0000. You can change the PIN at TOOLBOX-SETTINGS.
FAVOURITE MODE
Allows you to display only the channels that you have made favourites. To create your favourites list, press MENU and go to (TOOLBOX). Select PREFERENCES and then FAVOURITE CHANNELS.
Select your favourite channels under SET FAVOURITES with OK. Press BACK and then REORDER FAVOURITES to reorder the selected channels. You can also add an individual channel to the favourites list directly from the action menu.
TV GUIDE AND REPLAY
The TV GUIDE provides detailed information about past, current and future programmes on individual channels for the next and past 7 days. With the REPLAY function, you can watch programmes that are currently playing from the very beginning, rewind, fast-forward and pause. Select your desired programme and press OK. Press Play to start the programme.
A long press (2 sec.) of the OK button on a live programme takes you directly to the channel and lets you skip the action menu.

A long press (2 sec.) of the arrow buttons lets you navigate the channel overview faster.
RADIO STATIONS
The radio stations are available from channel number 700.
MAIN MENU
Press the MENU button on the Horizon remote control to access the main menu. From this menu you can access the various Horizon functions and settings.
TOOLBOX
Use TOOLBOX to customise your Horizon box according to your personal wishes –
for the best possible TV experience. You will also find pertinent answers to
your questions and our contact details.
ON NOW
The ON NOW menu displays the current channel, the programme name and the start
and end time of the current programme. Press OK to access the programme.
LIBRARY
The LIBRARY provides you with access to all your media, such as stored
recordings, or to photos, music and videos on devices connected to your home
network.
TV GUIDE
The TV GUIDE provides an overview of the programmes for the next and last 7
days, sorted by channel or programme genre.
OnDemand
OnDemand offers you a huge selection of films around the clock at the push of
a button.
APPS
APPS contains all applications which are available on the Horizon box, such as
MySports Pro, Netflix or YouTube.
SEARCH
Use the SEARCH function to quickly and easily find the programmes or OnDemand
films that interest you the most.
ACTION MENU
Use the OK button to retrieve the action menu from various areas of Horizon, e.g. during a live programme, in the TV Guide or in OnDemand when you have selected a film. The action menu then only lists the actions possible for the respective area.
TELETEXT Displays teletext (if available) for the channel selected in
each case
AUDIO & VIDEO Offers setting options for audio, subtitles and video
MORE LIKE THIS Displays similar programmes and videos in the TV Guide and from the OnDemand offering
INFO Retrieves, if available, any additional information about the selected programme
PAUSE / PLAY Pauses the current programme and plays it back with a time delay later on
RECORD/ STOP RECORDING Records the selected programme or cancels a current recording. You can set the start, end and frequency of a recording under OPTIONS
MAKE FAVOURITE Adds the selected channel to the favourites list
ENABLE FAVOURITE MODE Allows you to display only the channels that you have made favourites
BACK TO LIVE TV Switches a time-delayed programme back to live TV
ADD/REMOVE REMINDER Sets or deletes a reminder for your favourite programme
LOCK (PIN) /UNLOCK Locks a recording so that it can only be played back after entering a PIN
RESUME Jumps to the point where you left off viewing the recording or video
PLAY FROM START Plays back the recording or video from the beginning
PROTECT /UNPROTECT Protects the recording from automatic deletion when the memory is full, or unprotects the recording so that it can be deleted
DELETE Deletes a finished or planned recording
DELETE ALL Deletes all recordings from My Library
RENT Orders the selected OnDemand film
WATCH TRAILER Shows the trailer (if available) of the selected OnDemand film
CHANNEL BAR
Press BACK during a current programme to activate the channel bar. Select the left or right arrow key to move between the individual menus and OK to select actions. The channel bar offers the following functions:
NOW PLAYING
Shows information about the programme currently playing
STARTS IN
Information about programmes scheduled for the next 24 hours
PREVIOUS
Watch the previous programme again via REPLAY
APPS
APPS contains all applications which are available on the Horizon box, such as
MySports Pro, Netflix or YouTube
