4 Assembly
4.1 Installation Guidelines
-
Install in horizontal pipework with discharge connection directed downwards
-
The installation may not take place in areas or ducts where poisonous gases or vapours may be present or where flooding can occur
-
Requires regular maintenance in accordance with EN 806-5
-
The installation environment should be protected against frost and ventilated well
-
The installation location has to be easily accessible
– Simplified maintenance and cleaning
– Pressure gauge at the pressure reducing valve can be read off easily -
Provide a straight section of pipework of at least five times the nominal valve size after the pressure reducing valve (in accordance with EN 806-2)
-
The refilling combination has an integrated strainer – no separate strainer necessary
– Refilling combination is protected against malfunction and corrosion damage resulting from ingress of foreign bodies, e.g. welding beads, sealing materials, metal cuttings and rust -
The national installation regulations must be observed during the assembly
-
In order to avoid flooding, it is recommended to arrange a permanent, professionally dimensioned wastewater connection
4.2 Assembly instructions
To avoid stagnating water the refilling combination (NK300S) must be attached
as directly as possible to the service pipe!
The rules of the drinking water regulation must be considered during the
assembly!
Fasten the plastic sealing plugs manually only (without tools)
-
Thoroughly flush pipework
-
Install refilling combination
• Install in horizontal pipework with discharge connection directed downwards
• Note flow direction (indicated by arrow)
• Install without tension or bending stresses -
Provide a straight section of pipework of at least five times the nominal size after the refilling combination
-
Attach drain pipe to discharge connection (plastic pipe 40 mm)

5 Start-up
5.1 Filling up the system
1. Slowly open shut-off valves on inlet and outlet
Because of casual fluctuation of pressure dripping water at discharge valve
can occur!
This is no malfunction and therefore no reason for complaint!
5.2 Setting outlet pressure
Pressure reducing valve is set to 1.5 bar by factory.
The pressure of the system should be at least 2 bar above the set outlet
pressure.
-
Close ball valve on inlet and outlet.
-
Release pressure on outlet side
• e.g. loosen the pressure gauge
• afterwards screw in pressure gauge again -
Slacken tension in compression spring
• Turn adjustment handle counter clockwise (-) until it does not move any more -
Slowly open shut-off valve on inlet
-
Turn adjuster knob until the manometer shows the desired value
-
Slowly open shut-off valve on outlet
6 Maintenance
In order to comply with EN 806-5, water fixtures must be inspected and serviced on an annual basis. As all maintenance work must be carried out by an installation company, it is recommended that a servicing contract should be taken out.
In accordance with EN 806-5, the following measures must be taken:
6.1 Inspection
Inspection with a test control unit and maintenanceset
6.1.1 Testing pressure reducing valve
-
Close shut-off valve on outlet
-
Check outlet pressure on pressure gauge when no flow is occurring
• If the pressure is increasing slowly, the valve may be dirty or defective. In this instance, carry out servicing and cleaning (See 6.2 Maintenance) -
Slowly open shut-off valve on outlet
6.1.2 Testing discharge valve
Take note of the instructions of the test control unit TKA295
- Procedure according to instruction of the test control unit TKA295
Quick test for the discharge valve:
• Lower the inlet pressure
– if the discharge valve opens (it drops), the function is o.k.
6.1.3 Testing outlet check valve
Take note of the instructions of the test control unit TKA295
- Procedure according to instruction of the test control unit TKA295
6.2 Maintenance
Do not use any cleansers that contain solvents and/or alcohol for cleaning the
plastic parts, because this can cause damage to the plastic components – water
damage could result.
Detergents must not be allowed to enter the environment or the sewerage
system!
6.2.1 Valve insert
-
Close shut-off valve on inlet and outlet
-
Release pressure on outlet side
• e.g. loosen the closing plug 1
• afterwards screw in closing plug again -
Slacken tension in compression spring
• Turn adjustment handle counter clockwise (-) until it does not move any more
CAUTION!
There is a spring in the spring bonnet. It may cause injuries if the spring is derailing.
• Make sure tension in compression spring is slackened! -
Unscrew spring bonnet
• Use spanner -
Remove slip ring
-
Remove valve insert with a pair of pliers
-
Check that sealing ring, edge of nozzle and slotted ring are in good condition, and if necessary replace the entire valve insert
-
Reassemble in reverse order
-
Set outlet pressure
6.2.2 Cartridge insert
-
Close shut-off valve on inlet and outlet
-
Remove blanking plugs
-
Backflow preventer is released
-
Remove cover from cartridge insert
-
Remove cartridge insert and strainer
-
Remove strainer from cartridge insert
-
Clean or replace strainer and cartridge insert
CAUTION!
Do not dismantle cartridge insert in individual parts! -
Reassemble in reverse order
• push down the cartridge insert till it snaps in -
Check operation
6.2.3 Check valve
-
Close shut-off valve on inlet and outlet
-
Remove blanking plugs
-
Backflow preventer is released
-
Remove valve insert of pressure reducing valve
-
Replace check valve
Check valve will be destroyed after demounting -
Mount valve insert of pressure reducing valve
-
Check operation
7 Disposal
Observe the local requirements regarding correct waste recycling/disposal!
8 Troubleshooting
Problem | Cause | Remedy |
---|---|---|
No or too small water flow rate | Refilling combination is not fitted in flow | |
direction | Fit refilling combination in flow direction (note direction of |
arrow on housing)
Ball valves up- or downstream of refilling combination are not fully open|
Open shut off valves fully
integrated strainer is contaminated| Clean strainer
Pressure reducing valve is not set to the desired outlet pressure| Set outlet
pressure
Discharge valve opens without reason (no fluctuation of inlet pressure)| Non
return valve upstream or discharge valve are contaminated| Remove cartridge
insert and clean or exchange it
Discharge valve does not close| Discharge valve is contaminated or faulty|
Remove cartridge insert and clean or exchange it
Water is escaping from spring hood| Valve insert diaphragm damaged| Exchange
valve insert
The outlet pressure set does not remain constant| Valve insert, sealing ring
or edge of nozzle is contaminated or worn| Exchange valve insert
