What is Arduino®
Arduino® is an open-source prototyping platform based on easy-to-use hardware
and software.
Arduino® boards are able to read inputs – light-on sensor, a finger on a
button, or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating of a
motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board
what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the
board. To do so, you use the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring)
and the Arduino ® software IDE (based on Processing). Additional
shields/modules/components are required for reading a Twitter message or
publishing online. Surf to www.arduino.cc for more

Product overview
The Whadda WPSE352 is a photosensitive sensor module that features both an
analog and a digital sensor output. The module uses a phototransistor to sense
the amount of light directly in front of the sensor. The onboard potentiometer
adjusts the sensitivity (turning it clockwise increases the sensitivity). The
indicated turns off when the detected light level is above a preset threshold.
Keep in mind that the light sensor has a narrow field of view, it is designed
to only detect relatively bright light sources in close proximity to the
sensor.
Specifications:
Supply voltage: 3.3-5 V DC
Interface: Analog & digital output
Sensor type: phototransistor
Weight: 3.5 g
Dimensions (W x L x H): 45.0 x 16.5 x 6.8 mm

Example program
You can download the example Arduino® program by going to the official Whadda
github page:
github.com/WhaddaMakers/WPSE352
-
Click the “Download ZIP” link in the “Code” menu:
-
Unzip the downloaded file, and browse to the WPSE352_example folder. Open the example Arduino® sketch (WPSE352_example.ino) located in the folder.
-
Connect your Arduino compatible board, make sure the correct Board and connection port are set in the tools menu, and hit Upload
-
Open the serial monitor by clicking the serial monitor button , make sure the baud rate is set at 9600 baud
The example program will read the analog voltage from the analog signal
voltage pin (AO) of the sensor module and print out the result in the serial
monitor.
Try shining a flashlight directly into the sensor and check the readings in
the serial monitor.
