What is Arduino®
Arduino® is an open-source prototyping platform based on easy-to-use hardware
and software. Arduino® boards are able to read inputs – light-on sensor, a
finger on a button or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output –
activating of a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can
tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the
microcontroller on the board. To do so, you use the Arduino programming
language (based on Wiring) and the Arduino® software IDE (based on
Processing). Additional shields/modules/components are required for reading a
twitter message or publishing online. Surf to

Use
- Connect your controller board (WPB100, WPB101…) to your computer using a USB cable.
- Start the Arduino® IDE.
- In your Arduino® IDE, open the library manager by selecting Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries.
- Search and install the MFRC522 library (by github_ community).
- Open the dump_info sketch by selecting File -> Examples -> MFRC522 -> Dump Info.
- Compile and load the dump info sketch into your board. Switch off your controller board. WARNING
- The VCC of your WPI405 must be connected to 3.3 V on your controller board. Do not connect to 5 V as your WPI405 will be destroyed!
- The example drawing shows an LED. You can also use a buzzer (WPM319), a relay module (WPM400 or WPM406). In the example drawing, only pin 8 controls the LED. Pin 7 can be used to control a relay when a valid card is applied.
- Check all connections and switch on your controller. Your WPI405 can now be tested.
- In your Arduino® IDE, start the serial monitor (Ctrl + Shift + M).
- Bring the card or tag in front of the WPI405. The card code will appear on the serial monitor.
