INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

fig-1

  1. Park Jeep on level surface.
  2. Remove the plastic lower air dam. Use a push-in retainer removal tool or a screwdriver to pop out the plastic retainers along the front edge and also underneath where it attaches to the crash bar.
  3. If your Jeep is equipped with factory fog lamps, reach behind the bumper and disconnect the wiring harness plugs from the lamps.
  4. Use a ratchet and an 18 mm socket to remove the 8 nuts that fasten the bumper to the frame.
    • With the nuts removed, remove the front bumper from the Jeep.Daves-DCUJKFBMW-Jeep-JK-Stubby-Rock-Crawler-Front-Bumper-fig-4
  5. With the bumper removed, then you can remove the top bumper cover. You may be able to remove the plastic pin retainers with a Philips screwdriver. They may be frozen in and will have to be pryed up to be removed.
  6. If equipped with factory fog lights, those may be removed from the stock front bumper and install the new front bumper with the supplied mounting hardware.
  7. Install the bumper onto the frame. There are 8 threaded studs located on the inside/backside of bumper that will correspond with the mounting holes on the frame.
    • NOTE: The bumper may fit tight due to the slight manufacturing variances from Jeep to Jeep. You may need a rubber hammer to tap the bumper into place.
    • Install the flat washers and all metal lock nuts and tighten.
  8. If you installed the factory fog lights into the bumper, plug the harness back into the lights, and then secure the harness with zip ties (not included).
  9. If installing a winch, it can be installed at this time; mount fairlead to the mount.
    • NOTE: Some fairleads may require different mounting hardware than provided.
    • Fairlead mount gets sandwiched between winch and bumper.
    • NOTE: Some longer winch mounting bolts may be necessary than the ones provided with your winch.

If installing the optional skidplate, refer to the skidplate instructions at this time.
