PowerPro™ PA920PS Features
Califone® wireless PA systems deliver professional-quality sound in a variety of presentation settings. Since they’re simple to set up and operate, you won’t need an audio expert. Whether it’s a large meeting of parents, an all- school spirit rally, or a guest lecturer transmitting wireless audio from a laptop, you’ll have clear audio so everyone can listen and participate!
Operation
Battery
Charge the battery for at least 10 hours before the first use of the PA920, or
the PA920PS. Simply plug the power cord into an AC outlet and set the battery
switch to the ON position. The charging indicator will flash until fully
charged, then it will stay green. The unit can be used while it is plugged in
for charging.
There are LED indicators above the main power switch to show AC Power and
Battery Status. When the unit is turned on, the one on the left will light
“red” when the battery has a low charge. the ones on the right will glow
“green” to show partial charge, full charge, or if operating on A/C power.
It is recommended that the battery be recharged after several hours of usage, rather than stored with a low battery. This will prolong battery life. Storing more than 30 days without recharging will deteriorate the battery.
Digital Master Volume Control
When the main power switch is turned on, the Digital Master Volume Control is
at the lowest level to prevent accidental damage to the amplifier or internal
speakers.
The volume can be controlled in two ways; using the “Up” “Down” buttons on the
mixer panel or using the infrared Master Volume remote control. The Master
volume control has 5 green LED indicators to show the Master volume level and
one red LED for the speaker mute. When Mute is turned ON the red LED will
light and the green
LEDs will turn off. While on Mute, all sound will cut off to the PA920PS
speaker and connected speaker. The Master volume remote control must be used
in front of the speaker as the sensor is behind the speaker grille.
Recommended Set-up Procedure
Ideally, the master volume should be at maximum volume before the wireless
receiver volume is adjusted to the desired loudness. Since there are always at
least two (2) volume controls to contend with, it is suggested that prior to
turning the power on for the receiver, its volume control be set at “10
o’clock”.
PowerPro™ Product Family Operation Diagram
The PowerPro™ Series is compatible with other wireless Califone presentation
systems providing great flexibility to adjust to any demand. The PA920
connects wirelessly in stereo to the PA920PS or via cable, both systems work
with wireless microphones M319 and Q319. The Non-Powered Speaker can be
connected to either unit via cable.
Wireless Operation
Wireless UHF Receiver
Selecting a Wireless Channel
- Turn the receiver power ON
- Hold down the Set button until the display starts flashing
- use the Up and Down buttons to select the desired channel
- Depress the Set button to save it.
There are two (2) LEDs on the receiver; RF reception (green) and AF Audio
reception (blue). There are also LEDs on the front of the speaker above the
grille making it easy to see if the receiver is working properly.
A red LED indicates RF (radio frequency) from the transmitter/mic while an
amber LED indicates audio.
The green LED shows the power status for the PA system.
Feedback
Feedback is a shrill screeching sound produced by the speaker system when a
microphone is being used too close to the front of the speaker. The microphone
picks up the sound of the speaker system and it becomes reamplified. It is a
self-sustaining loop that can damage the system if allowed to continue, not to
mention the annoyance caused to persons nearby. Always stand 4 to 6 feet from
the speaker to minimize the opportunity for feedback from the speaker system.
900 MHz Microphone & Beltpack Transmitter
The M319 and Q319 are designed to work with the PA920 series PAs.
Powered Companion Speaker PA919PS
The PA920PS works with the M319 and Q319 microphones. The Powered Companion PA
has the same amplifier, power supply, and speaker complement as the full-
featured PA920. It does not have a mixer panel because it can be controlled by
the PowerPro PA920.
With the integral 16-channel selectable wireless UHF receiver, it can function
as a stand-alone PA speaker when using a Q319 Handheld microphone or the M319
Beltpack transmitter with an LM319, or HBM319 microphone. Although there are 5
LEDs on the front of the PA920PS only 3 lights function on this unit because
there is only one receiver. The red LED indicates RF, the amber LED is for
audio, and the green LED indicates power On.
Full Wireless Operation
Any audio from the PA920 can be transmitted to the PA920PS without wiring.
There is no limit on the number of PA920PS speakers that can be used with the
PA920 within a range of 300 feet.
Audio Line Buss
When linking one PA920PS to the PowerPro PA920 via Line-In, an XLR cable is
connected to the Audio Line Out XLR connector on the PA920. The other end is
connected to Line In XLR on the Powered Companion Speaker.
The Master Volume Control on the Audio Line panel of the master will adjust
the PowerPro PA920 as well as all the Powered or Passive Companion Speakers,
however, the loudness needs to be adjusted via the Master volume control on
the PA920PS as well.
Tone Controls The separate bass and treble controls provide a wide range
of adjustment or increasing or decreasing either the bass or treble from
“flat” frequency response. The center or “12 o’clock” position is flat.
Speaker out
Two 1/4” phone jacks for Switched and unswitched speaker output signals to
connect to external speakers.
Switched output disengages the main speaker, unswitched output divides output
between the main speaker and passive speaker
