How It Works

The Thermacell E-Series is an on-demand mosquito Repeller. The rechargeable battery powers a heater that diffuses mosquito repellent from the repellent refill into the air. Turn it on and within 15 minutes you will be protected from mosquitoes in the surrounding area. When finished using it just turn it off. It’s that easy. No sprays to wash off and no candles to blow out.

What is the ingredient they use to repel the mosquitoes? And why isn’t it listed anywhere?

The active ingredient is Metofluthrin, and it is listed on all of the E55 packaging. Thank you for bringing this to our attention as we work towards making information more readily available.

How is this one different from the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Rechargeables?

The Gen 1 and Gen 2 is the Radius

So which model is best? The E55 or the radius 2.0?

It depends on what is most important to you for features. Please see below:
The Radius:
– 6.5 hours charge per use
– 15 ft of zone of protection
– Timer
– Battery Indicator level
The Rechargeable:
– 5.5 hours charge per use
– 20 ft zone of protection
– Battery Indicator level
– Audible indicator on/off/low battery
Refills:
– The refills are interchangeable but rechargeable refills (ER) will provide 20ft and the Radius refills (LR) will provide 15ft

How to replace battery

The battery is not user replaceable. Thermacell would rather the E55 get thrown into a garbage dump so the battery can poison our ground water and Thermacell increases profits because we are forced into buying a complete new unit.
