Ed Ericson’s background and experience was learned and developed during his 25
years of experience with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. During that
time, he worked several specialized units which included the Problem Solving
Unit, Gang Unit and the most current ARMOR Unit which is investigates and
mitigates all crimes associated with CBRNE. During the 16 years assigned to
the ARMOR Unit, Mr. Ericson has had the opportunity to be case agent and
operator on several high profile, multi-day / multi-jurisdictional incidents.
Most notable incidents were a 2008 and 2019 Ricin Incident along with several
large explosive related cases.
MIKE CASHMAN
Mike Cashman is a Senior Trainer for Noble, with a specialization in Counter-
Drug Training. Previously Mike spent over 20 years with the Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA). Throughout his time with DEA, Mike served as a Clan Lab
Coordinator, where he instructed State and Local , Federal and International
Law Enforcement, Military, and other Agencies on the dangers of Clandestine
Laboratories. As Special Agent, he investigated and dismantled
methamphetamine organization, acted as Site Safety Officer in operational
methamphetamine labs and assisted other federal, state, and local law
enforcement agencies on investigates and laboratories. Mike finished out his
career with DEA as Clan Lab Team Leader. Because of his experience and
expertise in the field, Mike is a highly requested trainer and guest speaker,
presenting for Narcotics, Law Enforcement and HazMat conferences / conventions
world-wide over the past 20 years.

Brett Bigger is a Senior Trainer/SME for Noble with a focus on CBRNE/HazMat

Fire Department as a HazMat Team leader. Brett serves on the Washington Task

CRIS AGUIRRE
Cries Aguirre, co-founder of HazMatIQ, brings 35 years of emergency response
experience with Miami Dade Fire and Rescue. As a firefighter and later
Lieutenant, he dedicated himself to Hazardous Materials training. Cries, a
nationally respected instructor, served on Florida Task Force 1 and responded
globally to disasters as a HazMat specialist. Fluent in Spanish, he aided
communication with non- English speaking victims. Cries is part of the UN
World Health Organization Chemical Safety Program, a member of Latin American
Hazardous Materials Instructors, and contributed to the development of the
Smart Strip Chemical ID badge. In 2020, he founded BioTechIQ, a risk-based
response training program for Biological Agents.

In addition to training with NOBLE, Tommy served in the U.S. Army for 20
years, deploying to Afghanistan and Kosovo, before his retirement in 2013.
During his time in the Army, Tommy was a trained Master Instructor, with
thousands of hours of Advanced CBRNE instruction, both CONUS and OCONUS. As a
member of the White House CBRNE Team, Contingency Support Detachment for the
Bush Administration, Tommy responded to a variety of challenging missions,
including initial sampling, limited decontamination, packaging, escorting,
detection, munitions assessment, and explosive threat mitigation. His
certifications include; Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Technician Certification;
ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800; HAZWOPER Certification; & Incident Commander
(ICS) Certification.
TROY ARTHUR
Troy has amassed an impressive 31-year career with the Phoenix Fire
Department, dedicating a significant 22 years to leading their Hazardous
Materials Team and concurrently serving as a Hazardous Materials Technician
for 20 years on FEMA’s Arizona Task Force 1. In his role as an adjunct
professor at Phoenix College, he shared his knowledge through courses on
Hazardous Materials, Hydraulics, and Apparatus. Since joining the HMIQ/NOBLE
Training Team in 2015, Troy has played a pivotal role as a lead instructor
and subject matter expert, specializing in various areas such as First
Response Offensive, Air Monitoring, and Natural GasIQ. His certification as an
OEM Trainer for RAE Technicians highlights his commitment to excellence in
Hazardous Materials Response, making him an invaluable asset to the field.
JOHN FANSLER
John is a Trainer with NOBLE specializing in communication. He currently
holds the position of Communication Systems Manager at the Nevada Division of
Emergency Management. With a distinguished military career spanning over
twenty years, John brings extensive experience from his service in both the
Air Force and the Army. John retired in August 2022 at the rank of First
Sergeant and continues to contribute his expertise to the State of Nevada.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Cyber Security from the
American Military University. His academic achievements are complemented by a
suite of cyber certifications, HAZMAT/CBRN qualifications, leadership courses,
and military awards, which collectively underscore his diverse expertise.

BatteryIQ: Awareness & Operational Response to Lithium-ION Battery

BatteryIQ provides students with a simplified system to understand, identify,
respond, and mitigate to lithium-ion battery incidents, covering everything
from cellphones and electric scooters/bikes to electric vehicle fires and

Response Guides that allow them to quickly, effectively, and efficiently
categorize battery-related emergencies based on battery type and failure
stage. These categories then guide students to determine the potential
hazards, PPE, recommended equipment, and correct emergency operation tactics

All-Hazards Response. The foundation of this training is focused on the
equipment needed to keep responders safe from all-hazards: Radiations, F/

Dust Meters. Students will gain an understanding of the uses and limitations
of each tool in their toolbox, as well as experience operating each instrument
in a simulated response tabletop, collecting and running real-life samples
BatteryIQ: Patrol Response to Lithium-ION Battery Incident

BatteryIQ provides students with a simplified system to understand, identify,
and safely respond to battery-related incidents as small as a cellphone,
tablets, or electric scooter to large battery failures such as electric
vehicles. Students will be provided with Quick Reference Guides allowing
officers to quickly, effectively, and efficiently respond to battery-related
emergencies based on battery type and incident severity. Emphasis will be
placed on the actions Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers can take to
protect themselves and the public at these incidents. The course will also
cover the unique situations faced by Law Enforcement or Corrections officers
including managing the challenges of laminated safety glass, taking battery
devices as evidence, and mitigating an incident without evacuation.

Almost all incidents involve some aspect of decontamination. Decon IQ is a
system which utilizes science in the form of chemical and physical properties
along with empirical data gleaned from numerous military, academic and
government agencies to allow the trained decontamination technician to
formulate a decontamination plan of action in as little as 1-2 minutes. At the
core of the Decon IQ system is a series of charts which enable user to rapidly
identify appropriate PPE, applicable decon strategies, effective decon
agents, and selection of meters to allow for validation and confirmation of
decon efforts. Chart 1, the decon configurator, guides the user to complete a
rapid, organized, complete decon action plan regardless of whether the
contaminant has been identified or not.#
