Remove/insert battery
The medisana TM 700/710 thermometer is ready to use out of the package as the battery is already pre-inserted. However, if after a certain period of operation, a battery symbol appears on the display, the battery must be replaced. To do this, pull off the cap 4 of the battery compartment and remove the battery compartment about 10 mm from the thermometer. Use a suitable tool, such as a ballpoint pen tip, to loosen the button cell battery carefully. Insert the new button cell battery with the “+” symbol pointing upwards. Slide the battery compartment back into the thermometer. Close the battery compartment again with the cap.
Change the unit of measure
You can measure the temperature in ° Celsius or in ° Fahrenheit. Please proceed as follows to select the unit of measure:
- The device has to be switched off.
- Press and hold the ON/OFF -button for approx. 4 seconds to change the current setting.
- The actual selected unit of measure ( °C or °F ) appears in the upper right corner of the display
Use
Press the ON/OFF -button to switch the unit on. All display symbols will appear shortly and a signal tone will be emitted, followed by the last measured temperature. If the temperature is below 32°C (90°F), “ Lo ” is displayed – if the temperature is above 42,9°C (109.9°F), “ Hi ” is displayed. The Medisana thermometer TM 700 / TM 710 is now ready to take a temperature reading. Position the sensor tip in oral, axillary or rectal position: ORAL READINGS : Place the sensor tip of the thermometer under the tongue and close your mouth. Breathe through your nose while taking the reading in order to avoid inaccurate results. RECTAL READINGS : Many patients find rectal measurement uncomfortable, but it delivers precise results. To quickly and reliably determine body temperature, carefully insert the sensor tip approx. 1 cm into the rectum.
ARMPIT READINGS: Wash the armpit before taking a reading. Insert the tip of the thermometer into the armpit. Lower the arm and press it lightly against the body while the reading is being taken. The thermometer will now automatically begin to take a reading. During the reading, the “°”-sign flashes constantly. After the reading, you multiple tones will be emitted for approx. 10 seconds and the measurement result will be displayed. If you continue to measure even after the signal tones have been emitted, the readings will get more accurate. If you measure the body temperature on the armpit, the measurement duration should be at least 10 minutes in order to get a reliable result. If the reading is > 37,8°C (100°F), the thermometer will indicate fever alarm by announcing mutiple beep sounds (short beeps). The thermometer will switch off automatically ten minutes after taking the reading. To prolong the life of the battery, however, you should switch off the thermometer manually by pressing the ON/OFF-button.
