SCOPE OF DELIVERY
Please first check whether the device is complete.
The contents include:
- the medisana FTC thermometer
- Battery type AG3 or LR41 (already installed)
- Storage box
- Instructions for use
Remove/insert battery
The medisana FTC thermometer is ready to use out of the package as the battery
is already pre-inserted.
However, if after a certain period of operation, a battery symbol appears on the display, the battery must be replaced. To do this, pull off the cap 4 of the battery compartment and remove the battery compartment about 18 mm from the thermometer. Use a suitable tool, such as a ballpoint pen tip, to loosen the button cell battery carefully. Insert the new button cell battery with the “+” symbol pointing upwards. Slide the battery compartment back into the thermometer. Close the battery compartment again with the cap.
Taking temperatures: fast and error-free!
Fevers are often associated with fatigue, body aches, shivering, and chills.
The course of the disease can best be controlled by measuring the fever two to
three times a day at intervals of 4 to 6 hours. The measurement should always
be performed in the same area of the body and at about the same time for the
results to be comparable. The medisana FTC thermometer makes it quick and easy
to take a current body temperature. Frequent errors such as not leaving the
thermometer in place long enough can almost be ruled out. A temperature
measurement can be carried out in the following areas: a) under the tongue
(oral), b) in the armpit (axillary), c) in the rectum (rectal)
Measurement
Turn the thermometer on by pressing the Start button 3. All of the symbols
will appear for about two seconds, followed by a short beep. The most recent
reading will then be briefly displayed on the LCD display 2 (with a small M
appearing on the right edge of the display). If the temperature is less than
32°C, you will see “Lo” and a flashing “°C” on the LCD display 2. This means
the medisana FTC thermometer is ready to use. Position the sensor tip under
the tongue, in the armpit, or in the rectum. The thermometer will then
automatically start measuring the temperature. During the measurement, the
current temperature is displayed continuously. As soon as the measurement is
completed, 10 beeps sound and the measured temperature is shown on the
display. If the thermometer detects a temperature of more than 37.7 °C, a
fever alarm will sound in the form of 10 triple beeps. The thermometer
switches off automatically eight minutes after the measurement. To extend
battery life, however, you should turn the thermometer off by pressing the
Start button 3 once you have read the result.
Taking the temperature in different parts of the body
The medisana FTC thermometer is suitable for taking temperatures under the
tongue, in the armpit, or in the rectum. It is completely waterproof. After
about 1 minute, 10 short beeps will sound and the measurement result is shown
on the LCD display 2. Then the thermometer can be removed. For a safe and
accurate measurement, you should consider the following when positioning the
thermometer:
IN THE MOUTH: Place the thermometer with the sensor tip 1 under the tongue and close the mouth. Breathe through the nose during measurement to prevent the reading from being distorted. IN THE RECTUM: Many patients find rectal measurement unpleasant, but it does deliver accurate results. Carefully insert the sensor tip 1 approx. 3.5 cm into the rectum. MEASUREMENT UNDER THE ARMPIT: Clean the armpit before taking the temperature. Place the thermometer with sensor tip 1 in the armpit. Lower the arm and lightly press it against the body during measurement.
MEMORY FUNCTION
The medisana FTC thermometer has a memory function that allows you to recall the most recent reading. Turn the thermometer on by pressing the Start button 3. All of the symbols of the display will appear for about two seconds, followed by a short beep. The most recent reading will then be briefly displayed on the LCD display 2 (with a small M appearing on the right edge of the display).
Cleaning and disinfection
The medisana FTC thermometer is waterproof and easy to clean and disinfect.
Before and after each measurement, clean the thermometer with a cloth soaked
in a mild alcohol solution. You can also place the thermometer in a suitable
disinfectant solution. Your specialist dealer will gladly recommend suitable
cleaning products and advise you regarding their use. Do not ever boil the
thermometer!
