DESIGNED &ENGINEERED IN THE UK BY LANEY

Dear Player,
Thank you very much for purchasing your new Laney product and becoming part of the worldwide Laney family.
Each and every Laney unit is designed and built with the utmost attention to care and detail, so I trust yours will give you many years of enjoyment.
Laney products have a heritage that stretches back to 1967 when I first began building valve amplifiers in my parents’ garage.
Since then we have moved on from strength to strength developing an extensive range of guitar, bass, public address, multi-instrument, and keyboard amplification products along with a list of Laney endorsees that includes some of the world’s most famous and respected musicians.
At the same time, we believe we have not lost sight of the reason Laney was founded in the first place – a dedication to building great-sounding amplification for working musicians.
Warm Regards,
SINGNATURELyndon Laney
Chairman and Founder.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

After unpacking your amplifier check that it is factory fitted with a three- pin ‘grounded’ (or earthed) plug. Before plugging into the power supply ensure you are connecting to a grounded earth outlet.
If you should wish to change the factory fitted plug yourself, ensure that the wiring convention applicable to the country where the amplifier is to be used is strictly conformed to. As an example in the United Kingdom, the cable color code for connections is as follows.

INSTRUCTION NOTE
This manual has been written for easy access to information. The front and rear panels are graphically illustrated, with each control and feature numbered. For a description of the function of each control feature, simply check the number with the explanations adjacent to each panel.
Your Laney amplifier has undergone a thorough two-stage, pre-delivery inspection, involving actual playtesting. When you first receive your Laney guitar amplifier, follow these simple procedures:
(i) Ensure that the amplifier is the correct voltage for the country it is to be used in.
(ii) Connect your instrument with a high-quality shielded instrument cable. You have probably spent considerable money on your amplifier and guitar – don’t use poor quality cable it won’t do your gear justice.
Please retain your original carton and packaging so in the unlikely event that sometime in the future your amplifier should require servicing you will be able to return it to your dealer securely packed.
Care of your Laney amplifier will prolong its life and yours!

INTRODUCTION

CX monitors are compact, functional, and most importantly loud – this range of powered and unpowered monitors offers an effective solution to your onstage monitoring needs.
Designed to give a compact, affordable solution to onstage monitoring, the Concept CX Range of powered (CXP models) and unpowered (CXM models) offer various power and speaker options to suit your needs. CXP models feature both Mic and Line inputs, with 2 band EQ on the CXP-I 08 and CXP-I 10 with a 3 band EQ on the CXP- 112 and CXP- 115.
Cabinet design: full range ported stage monitor, road-ready construction with tough vinyl covering, kick-proof metal grille, metal corners & rubber feet, low profile carry handle, and sturdy 35mm pole-stand socket, allowing for monitor or FOH use.
The CMX range of unpowered monitors is designed to complement the CXP powered monitors, each of which (not including CXP-108) is capable of powering one unpowered monitor from its external speaker socket.
Each CMX monitor is supplied with two jack sockets on the rear panel, either can be used as an input or link out.
Other power amplifiers can be connected and depending on the specification of the power amplifier, it may be possible to link together a number of unpowered monitors to achieve the desired monitor spread.
We hope you enjoy using your CX Monitor as much as we enjoyed designing and making it.

  10. External Speakers: Output socket for connecting a further unpowered monitor such as CMX- I 10, CMX- I 12, or CMX-I I5.The impedance of the speakers should not be less than 8 Ohms. Connecting cabinets that have a lower impedance than 8 Ohms could result in the amplifier being permanently damaged.
  11. Voltage Selection Switch: This is factory set to the correct voltage for the region the product is supplied to. If necessary it can be reset by removing the mains lead and then loosening (but not removing) the screws securing the cover. The cover can then be pivoted away from the switch which can be moved to select the alternate voltage. DO NOT reconnect the mains lead until the cover is replaced and secured. Note: Fuse rating must be changed to suit mains voltage CXP- I 08 only.
  12. Main Power Switch: Main power switch for the unit. Always switch off and disconnect the power cord when not in use.
  13. Power Inlet Socket: Connect your power source here. Make sure that the specified voltage is correct for your country! Also here in the drawer is the main safety fuse for the unit. Only use the correct size and rating of fuse as specified on the panel. If a fuse blows or fails and a replacement of the same size and rating is installed which in turn blows, the amplifier has suffered a malfunction. The user should not attempt to service these products. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS

Speaker connections: These can be found on the rear of the CMX range. Please take note of the power ratings and do not exceed! The two connections are functionally the same so the output from an amplifier can be plugged into either of them. The second can be used to daisy chain multiple cabinets. Again, please check the spec of your amplifier before doing so.

CONNECTIONS

Cables: Never use a shielded or microphone cable for any speaker connections as this will not be substantial enough to handle the amplifier load and could cause damage to your amplifier system.

SAFETY INFORMATION

In order to take full advantage of your new product and enjoy the long and trouble-free performance, please read this owner’s manual carefully, and keep it in a safe place for future reference.

  1. Unpacking: On unpacking your product please check carefully for any signs of damage that may have occurred whilst in transit from the Laney factory to your dealer.
In the unlikely event that there has been damage, please re-pack your unit in its original carton and consult your dealer. We strongly advise you to keep your original transit carton, since in the unlikely event that your unit should develop a fault, you will be able to return it to you dealer for rectification securely packed.

  2. Amplifier Connection: In order to avoid damage, it is advisable to establish and follow a pattern for turning on and off your system. With all system parts connected, turn on source equipment, tape decks, cd players, mixers, effects processors etc, BEFORE turning on your amplifier. Many products have large transient surges at turn on and off which can cause damage to your speakers.
By turning on your bass amplifier LAST and making sure its level control is set to a minimum, any transients from other equipment should not reach your oudspeakers.Wait till all system parts have stabilized, usually a couple of seconds. Similarly when turning off your system always turn down the level controls on your bass  amplifier and then tum off its power before turning off other equipment

  3. Cables: Never use a shielded or microphone cable for any speaker connections as this will not be substantial enough to handle the amplifier load and could cause damage to your complete system.

  4. Servicing: The user should not attempt to service these products. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
