Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Maxi Trac RC Crawler. The Maxi Trac Truck is a new four-wheel drive, cross-country crawler designed for steep rock crawling. Your new model features a 4-wheel independent suspension and a traditional 4WD system allowing the truck to perform well in the most rugged environments.

This user’s manual contains instruction and tips to help you fully enjoy and maintain your truck. Following these instructions will allow you to maximize the features and life of your vehicle.

You’re probably eager to drive your new truck and put it to the test, but it’s important to review the user’s manual thoroughly. You will learn all the essential setup and operating procedures necessary to unleash the steep crawling features engineered into your truck.

NOTE: Regardless of your level of experience with RC products, it is important that you carefully read and follow the procedures outlined in this manual.

BEFORE YOU START

Before using your RC truck, carefully review this manual and closely examine the vehicle to become acquainted with the features in order to prevent serious damage. Follow all instructions and associated information to ensure the safe and responsible operation of your RC truck.

SAFETY PRECAUTION

With proper use and care, you will enjoy your new truck for years to come. Let us stress that as with any RC recreational vehicle, it is important to use common sense when operating this truck. Failure to follow the directions and safety precautions outlined in this manual can result in physical injury and property damage.

WARNINGS

AGE WARNING! —This RC vehicle is not a toy. You must be 14 years of age or older to operate this vehicle. Adult supervision is required!

RISK OF INJURY! — Your hobby grade RC truck can cause serious injury or death if not operated correctly. It is not intended for use on public roads or in heavily populated areas. Injury can occur if the truck colides with pedestrians or vehicles.

RISK OF BURNS! — Be aware that the motor, motor heat sink, speed controller and battery can become very HOT during use. Use caution when handling these parts to avoid getting burned.

RISK OF FIRE! — These is always a risk of fire or explosion when dealing with batteries. Never charge at a rate higher than 1C. Overcharging can lead to fire or explosion. Please read ALL the battery warnings on page 3.

RISK OF SHOCK! – Use caution when charging batteries. Do NOT touch positive and negative leads together. Do not lay the battery on metal. Keep away from water.

WARNING! — Your hobby grade RC truck is intended for daytime use only. Do not operate at night or when you have compromised visibility when in operation.

WARNING! — Heat is the enemy of your RC truck. Mowing components to cool down before continued use will extend their life.

IMPORTANT RC SAFETY

• Disconnect/unplug the battery from the truck when not in use.
• Turn on the transmitter FIRST before turning on the radio controller to prevent your truck from taking off unexpectedly and potentially causing an accident
• Ensure adequate airflow to cool the motor, motor heat sink and battery which can get extremely HOT. Do not touch these parts until they have sufficiently cooled.
• Only change one battery or motor connector at a time to prevent accidental mis-wiring of the truck.
• Your RC truck is designed to be used on a dry surface. Do not operate your RC truck in water.

BATTERY USE AND CARE

Battery Use and Care Your RC truck comes with rechargeable batteries that must be handled with care for safety, optimal performance and long battery life. Be sure to read and follow all instructions that accompanied the battery packs and charger. Other tips to remember:

• Use only the supplied charger to charge the included Li-Ion battery.
• Do not leave the charger unattended while charging. Disconnect the battery and unplug the charger immediately if either becomes hot! However, it is normal for the charger to get warm.
• Be sure to remove batteries from truck while charging.
• NEVER allow children under 14 to handle or charge batteries without adult supervi-sion.
• ALWAYS disconnect the battery from the vehicle and USB charger when not in use.
• Allow time for the battery to cool completely between uses and before charging.
• Do not use any battery pack that is damaged (loose wiring, swollen, damaged connector, exposed wiring.)
• Do not allow water, moisture or foreign objects into the charger.
• Do not place the charger or battery on a flamma-ble surface.
• Do not charge on a carpet, cluttered area, plastic, paper, leather, vinyl, wood or inside an RC model.
• Disconnect the battery from the charger and carefully move the battery to a fireproof location if the battery begins to smoke or swell.
• ALWAYS keep a supply of sand accessible when charging. Dumping sand on the battery will extin-guish a Li-lon chemical fire.
• Do not short-circuit, crush, incinerate or disassem-ble the Li-lon battery.
• NEVER allow conductive material (rings, bracelets or keys) to touch the battery. A short circuit may cause the battery(ies) to overheat and cause burns.
• During charging, place battery in a fireproof container (Li-Ion sack) and on a non-flammable surface (concrete).
• Do not use the included USB Li-Ion balance char-ger with a wall adapter or USB port with output voltage greater than 6V.
• Never alow the battery temperature to exceed 140°F [60° C].
• Never disassemble or modify Li-Ion battery pack wiring in any way or puncture cells.

Li-Ion Battery Warnings:
Your RC truck includes a 2000mAh Li-Ion battery with voltage not to surpass 7.4 volts. Your RC truck will alert you when your Li-Ion battery has reached its minimum discharge. Forward and reverse will be disabled but the steering control will allow you to turn the wheels left and right. This is designed to help the driver prevent the battery from being discharged below it’s safe minimum operational capacity.

It is of critical importance that you follow the instructions that are provided by the battery and charger manufacturer for proper charging use and storage.

The manufacturer and distributor shall not be liable for special, incidental, indirect or consequential damages arising out the installation and/or use of Li-Ion batteries in your RC truck.

Recycle Your Li-Ion Batteries:
When the battery has reached the end of it’s useful life, you are encouraged to recycle the battery. Do not dispose of your battery in the garbage. To find a recycling center near you, go to www.call2recycle.org.

REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM

INSTALLING REMOTE CONTROL BATTERIES

The remote control requires 3x AA batteries (not included). The battery compartment is located at the base of the controller.

1. Press tab to slide open the battery compartment cover.
2. Install batteries as indicated by the orientation guides.
3. Slide the battery compartment door back into place.
4. Tin on controller and check for blinking red LEO status light, Once a connection is established with the truck. the red LED status light will be solid.

If the status LED light flashes red (after an established connection to the truck) the batteries may be weak. fully discharged or they may be installed incorrectly.

NOTE: While driving your truck, if you notice a slow flashing red light on the controller, immediately stop operating the truck to prevent loss of control This indicates low controller battery power. Replace M batteries before continuing use.

NOTE OF REMOTE OPERATION

Your 2.4GHz remote is equipped with a directional antenna.

To maximize the RC range, point the remote control towards the direction of your RC truck, This will prOvide the furthest operating range.

REMOTE CONTROL OPERATIONS

1. Pull throttle trigger to move car forward.
2. Push throttle trigger forward to reverse car.
3. Pull trigger halfway to slowly move car forward.
4. Rotate steering wheel clockwise to steer right.
5. Rotate steering wheel counterclockwise to steer left.

READY TO RUN

Charging Batteries
Your truck set includes a USB charging cable. This can be used with either your computer or most USB wall adapters (commonly used with your mobile phone with a max output of 6V).

1. Open truck hood. discomect 7.4V battery. Connect the USB charger to your battery via the battery charging cord.
2. Plug your USB charger into your computer USE port or your wall mobile charger. Charge for approximately 2 hours.
3. When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the USE charger from the power source. Place the battery pack into the hood compartment. Refer to the diagram above. Attach the truck cable to the battery and close the hood. Be careful not to crimp the wires,
4. NOTE – Do not connect the battery to the truck until you are ready to operate,
5. NOTE – Do not leave the battery unattended while charging.

INSTALL THE BATTERY PACK FOR YOUR MODEL

Your remote-Controlled truck includes a 7.4V lithium battery. Please follow these instructions to install the battery pack:

1. Place battery pack into battery compartment, making sure the wires face the front of the truck and remain inside the battery compartment, Refer to diagram above,
2. Close the battery cover Ithe hood). Be careful not to crimp the wires.
3. Don’t connect the battery to the speed control until you are ready to operate the truck.

NOTE: Always disconnect the battery from the speed control when not In use.

WARNING: It is advisable that any children under 14 handle batteries ONLY under strict adult supervision. Follow instructions from the battery manufacturer to understand storage and usage of Li-on batteries. It is important that you follow al safe handling guidelines. The manufacturer and distributor shal not be liable for special, incidental, indirect or consequential damages arising out of installation and/or use of Li4on batteries in your RC truck.

It is important to remember to turn on the remote first and turn it off last to prevent the truck from receiving random signals from other sources and potentially causing your truck to drive away unexpectedly.

Be sure to turn on the controller before plugging in the truck battery.

Use new or freshly charged batteries in your controller to ensure the signal between the controller and your truck is not lost. If the signal between the controller and the truck Is lost, you can lose control of your truck.

MAINTAINING YOUR TRUCK

Your Maxi Trac RC Crawler requires periodic maintenance to ensure consistent performance and longevity.
It is important to pay attention to the following inspection points:

• Check the vehicle for damaged, cracked or bent parts.
• Check the wheels and steering for obstructions.
• Inspect wiring for faulty connections or fraying.
• Check the power level of the remote control batteries.
• Examine the chassis structure and suspension for loose screws.
• Make sure the gears are operational and free of debris.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These knits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates. uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions. may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on. the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Inerease the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The controller isn’t connecting with the truck.
First, make sure the batteries in the controller and truck are charged. Make sure the controller is turned on first, then turn on the truck. If the truck is turned on before the controller, a connection will not be established. In this event, turn off both the controller and truck. Then turn on the controller first and then turn on the truck. Make sure the controller is within range of the truck.

Idling Sounds
You may hear a slight crackle noise emanating from the steering servo. This is a normal function as the servo tries to micro-correct to the commands from the steering trim knob. The noise can be reduced by making slight adjustments to the steering trim knob on the controller.

Clicking Sounds
You may hear clicking noises while driving. This is most commonly caused by debris (pine straw, rocks and leaves) in the wheels.

Vehicle does not work at all.
Check if transmitter and car are powered. Replace batteries.

Vehicle runs slowly.
Replace or charge the battery pack. If the car moves slowly or does not move at all, place the remote closer to the car.

Car doesn’t track straight.
Adjust the steering centering knob. If the car steers to the left, rotate the knob to the right and vice versa.

Headlight flashes slowly.
Pending binding or battery voltage may be low. Perform binding again or change the battery.
