Important safety instructions

When using your appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before using this product.

  • This product has been designed for indoor, domestic use only. Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply.

  • Always plug your appliance:
    – into a mains circuit with voltage between 220 V and 240 V.
    – into an earthed electrical socket. Connecting to the wrong voltage may cause irreparable damage to the appliance and will invalidate your guarantee. If using a mains extension lead, ensure that it is correctly rated (16A) with an earth, and is fully extended.

  • Completely unwind the power cord before plugging into an earthed socket.

  • Use appliance for its intended use only.

  • To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting from steam vents, check appliance before each use by holding it away from body and operating steam button.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

  • The fabric steamer must not be left unattended while it is connected to the supply mains.

  • The surfaces which are marked with this sign, the soleplate and steam cord are very hot during the use of the appliance. Do not touch these surfaces before the appliance has completely cooled down.

  • Never pull on the cord to disconnect the appliance from electrical outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect on the plug to disconnect the appliance.

  • Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces or come into contact with rough or sharp edges. Let the appliance cool completely down before putting away. Loop cord loosely around appliance when storing.

  • Always disconnect appliance from the electrical supply when filling with water or emptying when cleaning, when removing or refitting accessories and when not in use.

  • Care should be taken when using the appliance due to the emission of steam.

  • Do not operate appliance with a damaged cord or if appliance has been dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble or attempt to repair the appliance.Take it to the nearest approved service centre for examination and repair. Incorrect reassembly or repair could cause a risk of fire, electrical shock or injury to persons when the appliance is used.

  • Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children.

  • Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the mains. Before storing the appliance, once it is unplugged, please wait until it has cooled down (around 1 hour).

  • Burns could occur from touching hot metal or plastic parts, hot water or steam. Use care when you empty a steam appliance. There may be hot water in the reservoir.

  • If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a cord with a 16A ampere rating shall be used. A cord rated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire or electric shock due to overheating. Care shall be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or be tripped over.

  • Keep the fabric steamer and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years of age when it is energized or cooling down.

  • To protect against a risk of electric shock, do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

  • Do not direct steam at people, animals or clothes while they are being worn.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  • The use of accessory attachments other than those provided by the manufacturer is not recommended and may result in fire, electric shock or personal injury.

  • The appliance must be used and placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. When you place the iron on the iron rest, make sure that the surface on which you place it is stable.

  • The appliance must not be used if it has been dropped, if it has any visible damage, if it leaks, or if it functions abnormally in any way. Do not attempt to dismantle your appliance: have it examined at an Approved Service Centre to avoid any danger.

  • The iron should only be used with the base provided (for cordless irons).

  • Check the electrical power for sign of wear or damage prior to use. If the electrical power cord is damaged, it must be replaced at an Approved Service Centre to avoid any danger.

  • Do not use other descaling products than the one cited in the IFU.

Before first use

  • When you first use the appliance, some smoke or a harmless odour may be produced or there may be a small discharge of particles. This will not affect the use of the appliance and will disappear quickly.
What water to use?
  • Your appliance has been designed to use tap water.
    If your water is very hard (hardness above 30°F, or 17°dH or 21°e), mix 50% tap water and 50% bottled demineralised water. Never use water containing additives (starch, perfume, aromatic substances, softeners, etc.), or condensation water (for example water from tumble dryers, water from refrigerators, water from air conditioning units, rainwater). Do not use pure distilled nor pure demineralised water. Such water contains organic waste materials or minerals that concentrate under the effect of heat and cause spitting, brown colouring or premature ageing of your appliance.

Problems with your iron?

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSES SOLUTIONS
There is no steam. The appliance is not plugged in, or not switched on.

Check that your appliance is correctly plugged in and switched on.
The water level is too low.| Unplug your appliance and refill it.
The steam pump has not been primed.| Press the steam trigger continuously for a few seconds to begin steaming.
You are using the appliance for the first time.| Press the steam trigger continuously for a few seconds to begin steaming.
The water tank is not fully in place.| Ensure that stopper is closed and that the water tank snaps when put into place.
The appliance is on standby mode.| PLEASE REFER TO THE ‘STANDBY’ section.
The appliance does not heat.| It is not plugged in, or not switched on.| Plug in your appliance and switch on.
The appliance is on standby mode.| PLEASE REFER TO THE ‘STANDBY’ section.
Water leaks.| The water tank is not fully in place or the stopper is not closed properly.| Ensure that stopper is closed and that the water tank snaps when put into place.
Steam rate decreases.| Calc Sealing| Refer to ‘ANTI CALC section in instructions for use.
The steam leaves stains on the fabric or the appliance spits| You are using water with additives.| Never add any additive in the water tank.
The appliance has not been cleaned enough after the descaling operation.| Read carefully the ‘ANTI CALC’ section in instructions for use.
You are using other liquids than white vinegar to descale the product.| Use only white vinegar during ‘ANTI CALC’ procedure.
Appliance steams continuously.| The steam trigger is on the lock position. or you have activated the continuous steam by quick double clic on steam trigger| Unlock the steam trigger or you must click one time on steam trigger to unlock it
The continuous steam stop suddenly| The continuous steam stop automatically after 1minute for double clic appliances| If you want to restart the continuous steam, you must operate a quick double clic on steam trigger again.
The steam head is dripping| You have used the steam boost too often (for appliance equipped with a steam boost)| Limit steam boost usage at 3 times a minute maximum. Separate those boosts by 20 seconds minimum.

BEFORE USE

  1. Unlock and remove the water tank.

  2. Open the water inlet stopper.

  3. Fill the water tank with tap water.

  4. Close the water inlet stopper.

  5. Return the water tank to its place on the appliance. Make sure that the water tank is fully set in place and locked.

  6. Hang your garment on a clothes hanger.

PADS

  1. Warning : Before removing or attaching the pads, unplug your appliance and allow it to cool down for one hour.

  2. The CLEAN PAD* is composed of one side with micro-fiber and the other side with lint & hair remover.
    The micro-fiber side captures small particules inside the textile to clean it. The lint & hair remover softly brushes the surface of the textile and remove lint and hairs.

  3. The DEWRINKLE PAD* is made with velvet EN to dewrinkle your garments.

  4. MONPARFUM PAD* is composed of a steam bonnet and a MONPARFUM accessory plugged in the pad.
    The steam bonnet protects delicate textiles from the heated steam head.

  5. MONPARFUM accessory diffuses fragrance thanks to the steam. Put few drops (3 maximum) of fragrance on the device.

  6. Insert the accessory inside the pad. Always use MONPARFUM PAD with the MonParfum accessory inserted inside. You can use it with or without fragrance on it. Do not use anything else than frangrance on this accessory. Do not put fragrance directly on the steam bonnet, on the steam head, in the steam holes or in the water tank.

  7. Warning : The use of fragrances is under your sole liability and Tefal® excludes all liability in this respect. Always read carefully the instruction of use of the fragrance you want to use before using it with the appliance and do not use if you have pregnant woman or kids under 8 years old in the room. Always use fragrance in a ventilated room. Should you have any allergy, asthma or pre-existing lung disease, avoid using fragrance or refer to the instruction of use of the fragrance you want to use. Keep away from eyes, mucous and membranes. In case of doubt, please ask for advices to the sales assistant of the fragrance or do not use it.

USE

  1. Warning : Never steam a garment while it is being worn.

  2. Plug-in the appliance.

  3. Switch on the appliance.

  4. Wait until the light stops flashing (approximately 25 seconds). When the light is steady the appliance is ready to use.

  5. Press the steam button with the steam brush facing away from you holding it in a vertical position.

  6. For optimal use, move the steam jets over your textile from top to bottom.

  7. Lower steam mode: for your most delicates textiles

  8. Higher steam mode: perfect for heavy fabrics and to remove the stubborn creases.
    To activate the boost, push for more than 2 seconds on this button. The boost will last approximately 3 seconds, and cannot be repeated more than 3 times a minute, every 20 seconds.

  9. For automatic continuous steam, double click on the steam trigger in less than one second. The continuous steam will last approximately 1 minute. To interrupt it, push one time on the steam trigger.

    1. For your safety, the appliance is fitted with an auto-off monitoring system, which is activated automatically after approximately 8 minutes without use.
  1. The ON/OFF button switch off, the appliance is off.
  2. To reactivate the appliance, switch it on by pressing the ON/OFF button.
  1. Press the ON/OFF button to switch it off.

  2. Unplug the appliance.

  3. Warning: Never touch the steam head of the appliance while it is hot. Wait 1 hour after unplug for it to cool down.

AFTER USE

  1. Make sure the appliance is unplugged and remove the water tank.

  2. Empty the water tank completely.

  3. Return the water tank to its place on the appliance. Make sure the water tank is fully set in place and locked.

  4. Wait for an hour for your appliance to cool before storing.

EASY DESCALING

  1. Do this operation 1 time per year to obtain better performance from your appliance.

  2. Do this operation in a vented room.

  3. Unlock and remove the water tank.

  4. Open the water inlet stopper.

  5. Fill the water tank with 50% water and 50% white vinegar.
    Do not use other descaling products.

  6. Return the water tank to its place on the appliance. Make sure the water tank is fully set in place and locked.

  7. Plug in the appliance and switch it on

  8. Wait until the light stops flashing (approximately 25 seconds). When the light is steady the appliance is ready to use.

  9. To release steam, press the steam button continuously.

  10. Switch off the appliance, unplug it and repeat the same operation with 100% tap water in the water tank.

CLEANING

  1. Wait an hour for complete cool down.

  2. Only use a dry cloth to clean. Do not use any detergent.

  3. Never wash or rinse appliance directly over a sink.

  4. The PADS can be hand washed with clear water and soap. Let them dry before reusing them.

  5. MONPARFUM * accessory textile inside can be washed. For this, open the accessory and take the textile inside. The textile can be hand washed with clear water and soap.
