MAKING CLEAR ICE
Hand washes all components with soap and warm water before first use, with the exception of the outer foam shell.
STEP 1:
Place the hard plastic tray inside the outer foam shell and fill it with tap
water.
STEP 2:
Assemble silicone mold halves and slowly lower into the hard plastic tray with
water.
Note: For cubes, the water level should be even with the inner silicone
ledge when lowered. For spheres, add more water through top opening, if
needed.*
STEP 3:
Carefully place ice•ology set in freezer with nothing stored on top of it.
Make sure your freezer is set between – 4 to -1 °C or 25 to 30 °F. Allow for
12 hours of freezing, although time and temperature may vary.
STEP 4:
Once ice is completely frozen, remove set from freezer. To release molds, rock
back and forth while lifting to help break the molds free. Separate silicone
molds to release clear ice. Allow ice to sit for 1- 2 minutes before pouring
desired beverage over them to prevent cracking.
STEP 5:
To remove waste ice, remove hard plastic tray from foam shell and microwave
for 1-2 minutes until ice can be removed.
Note: Foam shell is NOT microwave or dishwasher safe
Troubleshooting
THE BOTTOM OF MY ICE CUBE IS CLOUDY: Freezer temperature should range between – 4 to -1 °C or 25 to 30 °F. Freezing too fast will result in poor quality ice.
WHAT ABOUT THE WATER: ice•ology® works with regular tap water. Bottled water or distilled water is not necessary for perfectly clear ice but can be used in areas with poor water quality.
ICE IS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE: Gently rock the elevated molds back and forth to loosen from the hard plastic tray.
WHY DID MY ICE CRACK: Allow ice to sit for 1- 2 minutes before pouring the desired beverage over the ice.
