Instructions of use

Before using your appliance for the first time, carefully read these instructions for use and retain them for future reference: the manufacturer shall not accept liability in the event of any use that does not comply with the instructions.

  • Make sure that the voltage that your appliance uses matches that of your electrical supply system. Any error in connection will negate the guarantee.
  • This product has been designed for indoor and domestic use only, and at an altitude below 2000m. Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply.
  • Always disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply when it is unattended and before assembling, dismantling or cleaning it.
  • Remember: you may injure yourself if you use the appliance incorrectly.
  • Do not use the appliance if it is not working properly or if it has been damaged. In this case, contact an authorized service centre (see the list in the service booklet).
  • All maintenance other than cleaning and everyday upkeep by the customer must be performed by an authorized service centre.
  • Do not use this appliance to blend or mix non-food items.
  • Never use the blender jug without ingredients or with solid ingredients only.
  • Always pour the liquid ingredients into the blender jug first, before adding the solid ingredients.
  • Do not use the mixing bowl or accessories (according to model) as containers for preservation, freezing, cooking or sterilization.
  • In order to prevent overflow, do not fill the bowl or jug over the maximum level (if indicated).
  • Do not touch any moving parts (blades, etc.).
  • Blades are very sharp: to prevent injuries, handle them with care when emptying the blender jug, the bowls (according to model), cleaning, assembling and dismantling the blender jug (according to model) and the accessories (according to model).
  • Never place your fingers or any other object not intended for this function in the blender jug when the appliance is running.
  • Never remove the lid or the blender jug before the appliance has come to a complete stop.
  • Always use the blender jug with the lid. · Place the appliance on a stable, heat-resistant, clean and dry worktop.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, power cord or plug in any liquid.
  • Do not leave the power cord hanging within reach of children.
  • Do not leave the power cord close to or in contact with the hot parts of the appliance, near a source of heat or a sharp angle or inside the blender jug in contact with the blades. · Keep moving parts (blades) away from the cord during use.
  • Never pull the power cord to disconnect the appliance.
  • Do not allow long hair, scarves, ties etc. to hang over the appliance or attachment when either is in use.
  • Do not use the appliance if the power cord or plug have been damaged. To avoid all danger, have them 51 replaced by an authorized service centre (see the list in the service booklet).
  • For your safety, only use spare parts and accessories that are approved for your appliance.
  • Be careful if hot liquid is poured into the blender as it can be ejected out of the appliance as it produces a lot steam.
  • Do not pour boiling liquids (over 80°C/176°F) in the bowl or jug (according to model).
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not allow children to use the appliance without supervision.
  • This appliance is designed for domestic use only. It is not intended to be used in the following environments, in which the guarantee shall not apply: – Kitchen work areas in shops, offices and other working environments. – In kitchen areas reserved for staff in shops, offices and other professional environments. – Farmhouses – By clients in hotels, motels and other residential environments. – Bed and breakfast type environments.
  • Switch off the appliance and unplug it from the electrical power supply before changing accessories or approaching parts that move in use.
  • Refer to the instructions to obtain the appropriate operating time and speed settings for each accessory.
  • Refer to the instructions for correct fitting and assembly of your accessories.
  • Refer to the instructions for initial and regular cleaning of surfaces in contact with foodstuff, and for cleaning and maintenance of your appliance.

WARNING:

The safety instructions are part of the appliance. Read these instructions carefully before using your new appliance for the first time. Keep them in an accessible place so that you can refer to them later. The appliance will only work if the jar or the bottle is correctly positioned on the motor unit (C) and if the lid is locked onto the jar.
Before using your appliance for the first time, rinse the parts that come into contact with food (jar, bottle, lids and middle cap) with soapy water.
WARNING : Do not immerse the appliance in water (neither the motor unit nor the blades unit (C and B2). Never put the motor unit (C) under running water. Clean the appliance with a damp cloth and dry it carefully. The blades are extremely sharp. Make sure all the packaging has been removed before operating the appliance.
Assembling and fitting the jar

  • Moisten the seal (B1) (even if already fitted on the blades unit (B2)). Be careful to correctly fit the seal (B1) back onto the blades unit (B2) the correct way up (Fig. 1).
  •  Place the blades (B2) on the locking ring (B3) (Fig. 2). Turn the jar upside down and fit the locking ring with blades on the base of the jar (Fig. 3).
  • Lock it by rotating to lock ring in the clockwise direction (Fig. 3).
  • Make sure the locking ring is locked correctly: the arrow on the jar must be aligned with the arrow on the locking ring (Fig. 3).
  • Add the ingredients into the assembled jar without exceeding the maximum level indicated (Figures 4 and 5):
  • 1.75 L for thick mixtures
  • 1.5 L for liquid preparations

Warning : Do not pour boiling liquids (over 80°C/176°F) into the jar.
Lock the lid on the jar and lock in the clockwise direction (Fig. 6). Make sure the lid is locked correctly: the point on the lid should be aligned with point on the handle (Fig. 7). Lock the middle cap in position on the lid and lock it by rotating it in the clockwise direction. If the lid is not correctly locked, your appliance will not start; Position the jar correctly on the motor unit (Fig. 8): the point on the jar should be aligned with the lock on the motor unit (Fig. 8). A jar logo will appear on the screen (H) and a beep signal will sound.

Assembling and fitting the on the go bottle

  • Moisten the seal (E3) (even if already fitted on the blades unit (E4)). Be careful to correctly fit the seal back onto the blades unit (E4) the correct way up (Fig 9).
  • Add the ingredients into the bottle without exceeding the maximum level
    indicated:
  • 400ml for thick mixtures
  • 600ml for liquids

Warning: Do not pour boiling liquids (over 80°C/176°F) into the bottle.
Place the blades unit (E3+E4) on the locking ring (E5) (Fig. 10). Turn the jar (E2) upside down and assemble the locking ring with the blades on the base of the jar (Fig. 11) by locking it in the clockwise direction. Turn the bottle upside down and position it correctly on the motor unit. Lock it by rotating it in the clockwise direction (Fig. 12). A bottle logo will appear on the screen (I) and a beep signal will sound. Using your appliance Put the appliance on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from heat sources or water.

  •  Plug your appliance in and select your program (J) or manual settings (K) (time and speed) and press the Start/Stop button (G).
  • With the jar (A) you can change the blending speed from 1 to 9 by pressing speed program then the setting +/- (“H” being the maximum speed), and you can also set up the running time by pressing time program then setting +/- (K) between 5 seconds and 3 minutes.
  • With the the go bottle (E) you can manage the blending speed from 1 to 7 by pressing the setting +/- buttons (K). You can also set up the running time by pressing the setting +/- buttons (K) between 5 seconds and 90 seconds. Your blender will stop automatically at the end of the program. If you want to stop the blender before the automatic end of the program, press on the Start/Stop button (G).

When using the blender, do not use any accessories other than the pusher to avoid damaging the bowl.
Less than 3 minutes of mixing are enough to blend liquids for most recipes. To add ingredients while blending, remove the middle cap from the lid and add the ingredients through the feeder hole. Beware of the risk of spatter.
WARNING : After running one cycle in the blender for the maximum processing time, let the blender rest for 1 minute before operating it again. After using the blender for a maximum of two cycles, stop the appliance
and leave to cool to room temperature (takes about 2 hours). The appliance is fitted with overload protection. This prevents the motor from being damaged by abnormal usage.
If the appliance switches off during operation, proceed as follows: Unplug and leave to cool down for around 15 to 20 minutes. Reconnect the appliance to the power supply and resume blending. After approx. 3 minutes without use, your appliance will start a standby mode. To switch on your appliance again, press the Start/Stop button (G).

The pulse function (L) can still be used when no program is running.
WARNING : Strong foods may stain the inside of the bowl, but this does not affect the efficiency of the appliance. Frozen foods should be no bigger than a walnut. Do not add hot liquid above 80°C as it can be ejected out of the appliance due to a sudden build up of steam.
After using your appliance

  •  Unplug the appliance.
  • Pour the mixture out of the jar since it is not designed for storing food in the refrigerator or in the freezer.
  • Use a damp cloth to clean the motor unit. Dry off carefully. Never immerse the motor unit in water.
  • Wash removable parts with water and a few drops of washing-up liquid. To make cleaning easier, you can use the “cleaning program” (M).
  •  Pour in 200 ml of water. You can add a drop of washing-up liquid into the water but nothing else The lid (A2), the on the go bottle (E2), the lid of the on the go bottle (E1) and the middle cap (A1) can be cleaned in the dishwasher but the jar (A3), the Powelix blades unit (B2 or E4)), the titanium-coated Powelix life blades unit must not be washed in dishwasher. Do not fully immerse the blades (B2 or E4) or leave them under water for a long time. (A).

What to do if you appliance does not work?
