Thank you for purchasing this RAVE product. It has been designed and
constructed to provide lasting memories of hours of exciting fun on the water.
We at RAVE Sports want your experience with our products to be the best it can
be. Therefore, please take a few minutes to read the information contained in
this manual before inflating and using your product. Although the product is
simple to use, this manual contains important safety information that you and
others must understand to safely enjoy it.
WARNING
READ AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS TO AVOID DROWNING OR SERIOUS INJURY.
- Improper use of this product, including reckless or careless behavior, neglect or misuse of the product, or inadequate supervision of children and others using the product, can result in serious personal injury or death.
- Always act responsibly and provide proper supervision for children and others using the product. The Poolside Plunge is designed for ages 6-12 and maximum user weight of 150 lbs. (68kg).
- It is the owner’s responsibility to inform all users of the product safety rules and warnings contained herein.
- Do not dive head first.
- Do not jump, leap or dive from this product.
- Make sure landing area is clear of swimmers.
- Only use when rear stabilizer feet are full of water.
- Do not tow behind any vehicle.
- Use only in pool.
- Use at appropriate water depth and at a safe distance from hazardous objects.
Inflation and Set Up Instructions
CAUTION: DO NOT OVER-INFLATE.
- Inflation and set up should be done, or supervised, by a competent adult.
- Inflate slowly until most of the wrinkles in the material are gone and the air chambers first feel firm to the touch. Do not continue to inflate past this point.
- Do not use air compressors or compressed air to inflate. Use of an air compressor or over-inflation can rupture the product beyond repair, voiding the warranty.
Step 1:
Lay out the product face up on a flat surface. Make sure there are no sharp
objects under the product which might puncture the vinyl.
Step 2:
Locate the valves. The main air chamber has a screw-type Boston valve and the
two side rails have small plug valves.
Step 3:
Using an electric inflator or hand pump, inflate the main
(largest) chamber first until firm. Close the valve by screwing the cap back
on. Inflate one side rail until firm, then quickly insert plug into valve body
and press down so plug is recessed and flush with the rail. Repeat for the
other rail.
NOTE: It sometimes helps to moisten the valve plug first before inserting
it into the valve body.
Step 4:
Carry slide to the water and place slide with the front air stabilizer
bladders in the water. Never drag the slide. Fill both of stabilizers that sit
on the pool deck with water. This is done by removing the filler cap (top
side) and using a garden hose to add water. Once full, replace cap.
Step 5:
Attach hose to water spray feature.
The slide comes with a standard garden hose threaded connection (A) and a
quick connect hose connection (B). Use the connection method best suited for
your garden hose.
Attach hose and slowly turn on water supply to start the flow of water to the
water spray jets on the side rail of the slide. Control the water spray volume
using the shutoff valve at the water supply faucet. Adjust flow so that the
entire surface of the slide is lubricated with a film of water.
Step 6:
For the safety of children, we highly recommend placing foam pads on the
surface of the pool deck at the climb side of the slide as well as along both
sides of the slide. Slide is now ready to use.
CAUTION: Never use slide unless water filled stabilizers are full of
water and the slide cannot shift/move on the pool deck.
Completely drain both water filled stabilizer chambers before attempting to
lift or move the slide. Attempting to move the slide with water in these
chambers can permanently damage the product beyond repair.
Understanding air temperatures
- Note that the air pressure inside the inflatable slide will fluctuate depending on air and water temperatures. Heat causes air to expand while cooler temperatures cause air to condense.
- When the product is initially inflated, the air going into it will likely be warm. Let the product adjust to the cooler water or outside temperature for a few minutes and add some air if necessary before using.
- Likewise, in sunny conditions air temperatures rise, so the air inside the inflatable slide will expand. In very hot conditions, some air will need to be released to prevent the product from damage due to over-pressure.
- Add or release air accordingly throughout the day as temperatures change to maintain proper firmness during use. To provide maximum life to the inflatable slide, avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures (hot or cold).
Proper Use Instructions
To reduce the risk of injury using this product, follow these guidelines:
- Do not overload the product. Overloading can cause damage to the product and the safety of the users will be jeopardized (1 slider at a time). The Poolside Plunge is designed for ages 6-12 and maximum user weight of 150 lbs. (68kg).
- Inspect the product before each use. Do not use if there are any signs of deterioration or damage. Repair or replace before use.
- Take extra care not to have sharp objects on or around this product as it could easily be punctured.
- The product was designed for sliding only. Do not bounce, jump or allow horseplay as it could result in damage to the product and injury to the user(s).
- Always slide feet first into water. Sliding head first can cause injury or death.
- Make sure the landing is clear before sliding.
Deflation Instructions
- Remove water from both water-filled stabilizers. Remove the drain caps (on bottom side), open the fill caps (on top side), and let the water run out. You may have to pull up slightlyon the stabilizers to expose the drain valve and drain all of the water.
- Deflation of the slide can be accomplished quickly by using the deflation capability of an inflator / deflator pump. Unscrew the Boston valve plug and remove it from the valve. Insert appropriate nozzle into the valve opening and deflate by removing the air.
- To deflate the side rails, simply squeeze the base of the valve to open the flap inside and gently press on the tube to release air.
- Once deflated, wipe dry and store.
Cleaning and Storage
- When the inflatable product is not being used, we recommend storing it in a covered, shaded area. This will help protect it against ultraviolet (UV) rays and extend the life of the product.
- Clean the inflatable completely with a mild soap and fresh water. NEVER USE PETROLEUM BASED PRODUCTS OR SOLVENTS FOR CLEANING.
- Product should be completely dry and remain dry while stored.
- Roll the product loosely and place in a vented storage bag or container.
- Store in a cool, dry location. Do not store product directly on a concrete surface. Place mothballs around stored inflatable to keep mice and insects away.
- NEVER use high pressure washing equipment such as a “pressure washer” to clean inflatable. This will damage the product beyond repair and will void the warranty.
Troubleshooting
Air chamber(s) won’t hold air:
- Check plug valve(s) to ensure plugs are fully seated down into the valve body.
- Check for holes in bladder following the procedures in the “Repairs” section.
- Check to make sure the problem is not due to cooler air temperatures.
Repairs
For Minor Holes or Tears:
- Inflate the product and locate the leak by spraying or wiping with mild soapy water or by dunking it under water. Air bubbles will form and grow at the position of air leakage. Mark location of leakage.
- A small repair patch is included with the Poolside Plunge. Cut a patch larger than the diameter of the hole. Make sure all corners of the patch are rounded.
- NOTE: For a more permanent repair, purchase a Tear-Aid Patch on ravesports.com (Product #20100 found under Parts & Accessories / Repair Kits). These self-adhesive patches provide immediate adhesion allowing the product to be used immediately after repair.
- Deflate the product and clean the area around the hole. Wipe area with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue. Let dry.
- Peel backer from patch.
- Lay the product on a flat, hard surface and apply the patch using a dull, hard tool like a wooden spoon or roller. Working from the center to the outer edge, rub out any air bubbles between the patch and the product.
- The product is ready to be used right away.
