Features

Safety

• Make sure POWER is OFF on the circuit you will be working on!
• In advance of working on this circuit, make sure the main power is OFF to this circuit. Go to the main service panel and remove the fuse or trip the breaker that controls the circuit. Make sure others are aware you are working on this and NOT to turn on the circuit by mistake.
• Before touching any wire, make sure it is not live by using a voltage tester.
• Place safety covers on the unused outlets.

Warning
Improper wiring of any electrical device can cause a fire, serious injury, or death. Always consult a qualified electrician who will ensure the unit is stalled in accordance with local electrical codes and regulations. If the current outlet has a top or bottom outlet controlled by a separate circuit breaker, you can not use this device. Before starting the installation, ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker and test the existing outlet with a voltage tester.

Instructions

This unit is designed to be installed into a wall box. A standard wall box measures 3″ high x 2″ wide x 2.5″ deep or 12.5 cubic inches.
Retrofit Applications:

1. Turn OFF the power at the circuit breaker and test the outlet to confirm the power is OFF. Once Power is confirmed to be OFF, remove the existing wall plate & screws from the wall.

2. Remove the current receptacle from the wall.

3. Disconnect the wiring of the old receptacle.

4. Connect the new receptacle to the existing wiring. (see wiring diagram)
   Side Wiring Method: You cannot use the side wiring method if more than one wire is required per terminal. If this is the case, use the back wiring method.
   • Loop wires clockwise 3/4 turn around the terminal screw.
   • Black wire to “Hot”.
   • White wire to “Neutral”.
   • Green wire to “Ground”. (insert wire under the clamp)
   • Tighten the screws firmly over the wire loops, ensuring that no bare conductors are exposed.
   Back Wiring Method:
   • Slide wires into the holes behind the appropriate terminal screws.
   • Black wire to “Hot”.
   • White wire to “Neutral”.
   • Green wire to “Ground”. (insert wire under the clamp)
   • Tighten the screws firmly over the wire loops, ensuring that no bare conductors are exposed.

5. Insert the new receptacle into the wall and install a wall plate with the screws provided.

6. Turn ON power at the circuit breaker and test to make sure the unit is working.

WIRING DIAGRAM

Do not exceed wattage capacity. Suitable for use with indoor appliances, store indoors when not in use. If watts are not marked on the appliances, multiply the ampere rating (on the nameplate) by 125 to determine equivalent watts. Add determined watts for each plugged-in appliance or lamp.
