The POI based warning system that alerts you to roadside Traffic Cameras, Speed Traps and other similar points of interest.

WARNING: FAILURE TO FOLLOW ALL THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BELOW COULD RESULT IN FIRE, COLLISION, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR OTHER INJURY OR DAMAGE.

The Sprintshield PROALERT is designed to be used in a vehicle. The driver is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle where the Sprintshield PROALERT unit is installed. Use this unit only when traffic conditions permit. This unit should be used in compliance to the applicable laws of the area. It is your sole responsibility to practice safe driving by placing, securing and using your Sprintshield PROALERT in a way that will not cause accidents, injury or property damage. Mount the Sprintshield PROALERT in a position that does not obstruct the driver’s view. Do not mount the Sprintshield PROALERT in a way that may interfere with the operation of the vehicle, the deployment of air bags or other safety equipment. Do not operate the Sprintshield PROALERT while driving.

Sprintshield does not condone speeding or any other failure to comply with your local traffic laws. It is your responsibility to drive within the posted speed limit at all times and to drive carefully.

Sprintshield accepts NO liability whatsoever from you receiving any speeding fines or points on your license through using this device.

In the event you receive a fine or any other penalty for speeding or contravention of any traffic laws, or are involved in an accident, Sprintshield is not responsible for any damages of any type.

The Sprintshield PROALERT is made of glass, metal and plastic and has sensitive electronic boards inside. The Sprintshield PROALERT can be damaged if dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed, or if it comes in contact with liquid. Don’t use a damaged Sprintshield PROALERT, as it may cause injury.

Don’t open the Sprintshield PROALERT and don’t attempt to repair it by yourself. Disassembling the Sprintshield PROALERT may cause injury to you or damage to the Sprintshield PROALERT. If the Sprintshield PROALERT is damaged, malfunctions, or comes in contact with liquid, contact Sprintshield d.o.o. service center. Charge the Sprintshield PROALERT with the included docking station, and optionally, a vehicle 12V to USB 5V adapter.

Using damaged cables or third-party chargers, or charging when moisture is present, can cause electric shock. When you use the docking station to charge the Sprintshield PROALERT, make sure that the Sprintshield PROALERT is fully inserted/mated in the docking station.

Listening to sound at high volumes may damage your hearing. Background noise, as well as continued exposure to high volume levels, can make sounds seem quieter than they actually are.

WARNING: To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.

The Sprintshield PROALERT and its docking station comply with applicable surface temperature standards and limits. However, even within these limits, sustained contact with warm surfaces for long periods of time may cause discomfort or injury. Use common sense to avoid situations where your skin is in contact with a product when it’s operating for long periods of time.

Observe signs and notices that prohibit or restrict the use of Bluetooth/3G,4G (for example, in healthcare facilities). Although the Sprintshield PROALERT is designed, tested, and manufactured to comply with regulations governing radio frequency emissions, such emissions from the Sprintshield PROALERT can negatively affect the operation of other electronic equipment, causing them to malfunction. Turn off the Sprintshield PROALERT to shutdown wireless transmitters when use is prohibited or when asked to do so by authorities.

The Sprintshield PROALERT contains radios that emit electromagnetic fields. These electromagnetic fields may interfere with pacemakers or other medical devices. If you wear a pacemaker, maintain at least 6 inches (approximately 15 cm) of separation between your pacemaker and the Sprintshield PROALERT. If you suspect that the Sprintshield PROALERT is interfering with your pacemaker or any other medical device, stop using the Sprintshield PROALERT and consult your physician for information specific to your medical device.

If you have any other medical condition that you believe could be affected by the Sprintshield PROALERT (for example, seizures, blackouts, eyestrain, or headaches), consult with your physician prior to using the Sprintshield PROALERT.

Do not charge or use the Sprintshield PROALERT in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, such as at a fueling area, or in areas where the air contains chemicals or particles (such as grain, dust, or metal powders). Obey all signs and instructions.

Choking hazard! The Sprintshield PROALERT and some of its accessories may present a choking hazard to small children. Keep away from small children.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT SPRINTSHIELD, ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES, AND ITS LICENSORS ARE NOT LIABLE TO YOU UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES THAT MAY BE INCURRED BY YOU THROUGH YOUR USE OF THE UNIT, WHETHER OR NOT SPRINTSHIELD OR ITS REPRESENTATIVES HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF OR SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF ANY SUCH LOSSES ARISING.

HANDLING INFORMATION

Clean the Sprintshield PROALERT immediately if it comes in contact with anything that may cause stains—such as dirt, ink, makeup, or sunscreen.

To clean:

  • Undock from the station and turn the Sprintshield PROALERT off.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Avoid getting moisture in openings.
  • Don’t use cleaning products or compressed air.

BATTERY WARNINGS AND NOTICES

A lithium-ion battery is used in this car tablet. Please follow these guidelines so batteries may not experience a shortened life span or may present a risk of damage to the car tablet, fire, chemical burn, electrolyte leak, and/or injury.

  • Do not operate the car tablet outside of the following temperature range: from -20° C to 55° C (-4 F to 131 F)
  • Do not disassemble, modify, re manufacture, puncture or damage the car tablet or batteries
  • Do not remove or attempt to remove or replace battery yourself because you may damage the battery, which could cause overheating and injury
  • Do not immerse or expose car tablet or batteries to fire, explosion, water or other hazard and other liquids
  • Do not leave car tablet exposed to a heat source or in a high-temperature location, such as in the sun in an unattended vehicle. To prevent the possibility of damage, when unused, remove the car tablet from the vehicle or store it out if direct sunlight, such as in the glove box
  • When storing for an extended time period, store within temperature range from 0° C to 25° C (32 F to 77 F)
  • When disposing this car tablet/batteries in accordance with applicable local laws and regulations please contact your local waste disposal department.

MAGNET WARNINGS AND NOTICES

Both the car tablet and docking station contain magnets. Under certain circumstances, magnets may cause interference with some internal medical devices, including pacemakers and insulin pumps, so please kept them away from such medical devices.

Magnet inside car tablet and docking station may also cause damage to some electronic devices, including hard drives in laptop computers. Use with caution when car tablet and/or docking station are near electronic devices.

SPEED LIMIT NOTICE

The speed limit feature is for information only and does not replace the drivers responsibility to abide by all posted speed limit signs and to use safe driving judgment at all times.

Sprintshield d.o.o. will not be responsible for traffic fines or citations that you may receive for failing to follow all applicable traffic laws and signs.

SPRINTSHIELD PROALERT

Sprintshield PROALERT is an automotive car tablet that manages and alerts you about Points of Interest (POI) based on your GPS location. The tablet is primarily intended for automobile use but can easily be mounted to a motorbikes or other vehicles.

The Sprintshield PROALERT uses GPS for location tracking, analyzing available POIs and displaying the nearest one on the screen. You can add or remove your own points of interest into the database.

The Sprintshield PROALERT is one of the smallest and most advanced car tablet of all similar POI based warning products, specially designed for automotive applications, to be handy and enable discrete mounting in any car interior.

    PROALERT contents

Sprintshield PROALERT is mated to docking station so it can be powered at all times when the car is running. Thanks to its internal rechargeable battery it can function autonomously when detached from the docking station. The product is to be installed in a fixed position in the car, when the car is turned off, the product will switch to standby and run on the battery.

The Sprintshield PROALERT equipped with 3G, 4G, LTE capability for easy internet software updates and enabling daily downloads and updates of the POI database from the internet.

The POI Database includes speed camera locations, red light cameras and similar points of interest and will receive regular updates. It is developed and maintained by professionals for drivers requiring a high level of accuracy and reliability.

Location is monitored by an external GPS antenna supplied with your Sprintshield PROALERT. External GPS antennas lock faster and are more precise so you can rely on prompt and precise notifications.

4G, LTE INTERNET CONNECTIONS

An inbuilt 4G, LTE modem ensures a quality Internet connection. The Sprintshield PROALERT also requires a nano-sized telecom operator SIM-card for its operation and automatic Silent updates.
INTERNET CONNECTIONS

The SIM-card socket is located on the back of the Sprintshield PROALERT under a protective cover. Unscrew and remove the cover and insert the SIM-card. Be careful to properly orient the SIM-card. Put the cover back and screw up for proper humidity and dust protection.

DOCKING STATION OVERVIEW

DOCKING STATION

The docking station performs several important functions. It connects the Sprintshield PROALERT to:

  • The Power supply: which powers the unit while the unit is docked and charges the internal battery at the same time. It has a 1m cable with a USB-A connector. It can be plugged into a supplied 12 V to 5 V adapter or to any USB charging socket.
  • The external speaker cable: 1m in length with a 3,5 mm female mono socket at the end. Can be connected to the external speaker to the socket.
  • The GPS SMA female pigtail 25cm long cable: connect to the supplied external GPS antenna.
  • LED diode (red, blue) 1,5m long cable.

Warning! The Docking station routes a signal from the GPS antenna to the Sprintshield PROALERT. When the Sprintshield PROALERT is removed from the docking station it will have difficulty determining its geographic location and thus alerting functions will be limited.

Use the un-docked battery operation for editing settings and setup performing.

GPS ANTENNA AND 12 V POWER ADAPTER

POWER ADAPTER

An external GPS antenna is supplied with the Sprintshield PROALERT. The antenna should be mounted with an unobstructed view of the sky or under a plastic, glass or other non-metal vehicle part. The antenna is connected to the docking station directly and to the Sprintshield PROALERT via pogo pins.

The Power converter (adapter) that converts vehicle 12 V power supply to 5 V is also supplied. Connect the red wire to the positive switched power supply +12 V and the black wire to the vehicle chassis/ground or to the negative power supply.

The Sprintshield PROALERT can also be powered by a standard USB power charger or vehicle USB power socket.

POWERING ON

Power button on Sprintshield PROALERT is positioned on the upper right side of the tablet. By pressing the power button for 2 seconds or longer you will turn on the Sprintshield PROALERT. It will also turn on automatically when mated to docking station while car is turned on (when detects a charging voltage of 5 V on its docking station).

BATTERY OPERATION

The built-in li-ion battery allows up to 1 hour of autonomous use when un- docked, with the screen on. It will last for 10+ hours with the battery on full charge while on standby (while the vehicle is parked and unattended).

About your Sprintshield PROALERT

Regulatory and unique device ID information can be viewed by going to Settings and then pressing About.

To help Sprintshield d.o.o. improve its products and services and according to the Terms of usage, The Sprintshield PROALERT automatically sends diagnostic and usage data. Please read carefully the Terms of usage before accepting and using the product.

Update the Sprintshield PROALERT software

Your Sprintshield PROALERT will automatically connect to the sprintshield.com servers and query for available updates of both the POI database and product firmware. If found they will be automatically downloaded and installed.

Factory Restore

To erase all settings and databases and revert your device to factory state press the Factory restore option under settings. This process takes some time and may ask for confirmations along the way.

This device was tested for typical body-worn operations with the back of the handset kept 0mm from the body. Sprintshield d.o.o. considers the task of keeping our environment clean very important and will give maximum efforts to extend the usability of your Sprintshield PROALERT via OTA updates and servicing & warranty plans.

At the time that you consider renewing the product we ask you to contact us first and ask about The Sprintshield PROALERT renewing programs. When finally disposing of the product your local laws and regulations regarding recycling must be followed. Equipment marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol indicates that the equipment should not be disposed of in unsorted household waste.

Local authorities in many regions have established collection schemes under which residents can dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment at a recycling center or other collection point.
