Reading and keeping the instructions for use
These instructions for use apply exclusively to the aforementioned gazzini
Mirror with LED daytime running light. They contain important information on
installation, safety and the warranty. Read these instructions carefully, in
particular the safety instructions, before installing the gazzini Mirror with
LED daytime running light. Failure to follow the instructions may result in
damage to the mirror itself or to your motorcycle, make it less safe to ride
on the road, and possibly cause consequential damage. Keep these instructions
for future reference. If you pass the gazzini Mirror with LED daytime running
light to a third party, you must also hand over these instructions. The
instructions for use are based on the standards and regulations applicable in
the European Union and reflect current state-of-the-art technology. If abroad,
you should also observe any country-specific guidelines and laws.

Safety
Intended use
This gazzini Mirror with LED daytime running light is intended as a
replacement for your existing mirror and to enhance the look of your
motorcycle. The purpose of daytime running lights is to make the vehicle
easier to see in daylight. They have very low power consumption. The gazzini
Mirror with LED daytime running light is homologated (E-approved) and street-
legal in EU countries.
You should only use the gazzini Mirror with LED daytime running light as
described in these instructions. Any other use is considered improper use and
can result in material damage. The manufacturer and supplier accept no
liability for damage caused by improper or incorrect use.
Safety instructions
Danger for children and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities (e.g. partially disabled persons, elderly persons with reduced physical and mental abilities) or lack of experience and knowledge (e.g. older children)!
The product includes small parts and packaging which could be swallowed. Keep

• For your own safety when riding your motorcycle, the mirror must be
installed in such a way that it gives you an adequate view of following
traffic.
• The mirror must be securely installed – If it were to fall off, it could
endanger other road users and cause an accident.
• Ensure that the mirror never makes contact with any other part of the
vehicle (fairing, tank etc.) and does not impede the rider in any way, even
when the handlebar is turned to full lock.

• Be sure to disconnect the battery before working on your motorcycle’s

• Electrical and mechanical installation on the vehicle must be carried out
professionally. Incorrect installation can cause short circuits or invalidate
the type approval.
Risk of damage!
The electric cables must not be subjected to any tensile forces, even when the steering is at full lock. The power cables must be routed in such a way that they cannot chafe, and they must not kink. If necessary, use a cable sheath or a rubber cable feed-through.
Installation
Legal requirements for installation of daytime running lights
The daytime running light must only be used on motorcycles registered under EU
law (Regulation EU 3/2014; 2009/67/EC; ECE-R53). It is not approved for
vehicles registered under German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO)
(classic motorcycles first registered a considerable time ago). In addition,
in order to avoid dazzling other road users, daytime running lights must
switch on automatically when the “ignition” is switched on and go out
automatically when the low beam light is switched on. This does not apply when
flashing your headlight. Stipulations for the geometric attachment position
for the daytime running lights:
Preparation
First of all, choose a well-lit place and use a suitable stand to make sure there is no risk of your motorcycle toppling over. Then remove the existing mirrors. Remember to check whether one of them has a left-hand thread (e.g. the right mirror on Yamaha bikes). Left-hand threads are generally identified by a notch on the hexagon of the nut. Now you need to check the thread of the old mirrors and choose the correct size of thread adapter (no. 8, 9, 10) from those supplied with the gazzini Mirror, then screw the adapter into the mirror joint (no. 5). Motorcycles over 125 cc from other Japanese manufacturers generally have a thread with a diameter of 10 mm and a pitch of 1.25 (written: M10x1.25). Newer BMWs with short threads have a thread diameter of 10 mm, but a pitch of 1.5. gazzini Thread Adapters (no. 8) are also included in the box for these versions.
Attaching
Carefully screw the suitable gazzini Thread Adapter (no. 8, 9, 10) into the mirror joint (no. 5). Then screw the base of the mirror or the mirror joint into the instrument cluster with the adapter, roughly align the mirror to suit your riding position, and fasten it to the instrument cluster using the locknut (size 15 wrench). Then tighten the flat-head bolt (no. 3) of the mirror stem on the mirror joint using a hexagon key (size 4) as soon as the mirror is aligned to the right riding position. Now set the mirror housing on the ball joint so that you are guaranteed an optimum view of the road behind you without the mirror stem blocking the daytime running light.
Electrical connection
By law (in Germany), daytime running lights must come on automatically when
you switch on the ignition and must switch off again automatically when you
switch on your low beam headlight.
If your motorcycle is already fitted with daytime running lights, these must
be removed because a maximum of two DRLs, symmetrical to the longitudinal
centreline of the motorcycle, are permitted. In this case, the cables can be
connected to the cables of the gazzini Mirror with daytime running light.
The cables (red = positive, black = earth) of the gazzini Mirror are approx.
100 cm in length and can be shortened if necessary. Make sure that each
individual cable is connected correctly to short-circuit proof and with proper
vehicle connectors (sold separately). Never use ordinary terminal blocks.
If your motorcycle does not already have DRLs, it is advisable to use a
special DRL switch (also available from Louis) that activates/switches off the
DRL according to the level of ambient light. When connecting up the gazzini
Mirror with daytime running light, you must follow the instructions provided
with the DRL switch.
After connecting up, it is imperative to check that the electrical system and
all functions are working correctly before you set off. You have the option of
using the mirror light as a position light. To do so, you connect the white
cable to the plus supply line of your existing position light or parking
light.

Storage
Until it is installed, the gazzini Mirror with daytime running light should be kept in its original packaging and stored in a place that is protected against weather and moisture.
Cleaning and care
Use warm soapy water or a motorcycle cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the gazzini Mirror with daytime running light. Do not use a pressure washer, as it may damage the seals, and water my get into the gazzini Mirror. Afterward, use a wax-based care product that will protect the surface against the elements. Do not apply the care product to the daytime running light or the mirror lens.
Troubleshooting
Fault
The daytime running light does not switch on.
Possible cause and remedy
Check the battery voltage. Use a test lamp to check that the positive lead is carrying current via the light switch or via the DRL switch. Check the battery’s earth connection. If these electrical checks reveal no-fault, the LED light may be defective. In this case, you will need to replace the complete mirror.
Warranty
This product comes with a statutory two-year warranty. The warranty period begins on the date of purchase. It does not cover normal wear and tears, use for anything other than the intended purpose, or damage caused by an accident, tampering, or attempted repairs by unauthorized persons or customer service departments.

Dispose of packaging material and the product itself in accordance with applicable local regulations.
