Connecting the Speakerphone

Getting Started

Bluetooth connection
Before you start, please fully charge up the speaker.
Switch on the device and it will begin “Bluetooth pairing” mode. With your audio source (smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.), find the Bluetooth device list and look for “CA Essential SP”. Select it to pair/connect with the speaker.

Bluetooth will auto-reconnect the last connected device after toggle key between from USB Audio source
Bluetooth will reconnect the last connected device after power off and power on the main unit if it paired before.
Bluetooth will reconnect the last connected device after moving mobile phone and devices over
Bluetooth can reconnect the last connected device after Bluetooth is off and Bluetooth on in the BT setting menu of mobile phones and devices if it is paired before.
Getting Started
USB connection
Toggle source key to the USB source
Insert the end of the USB Type-A Cable into the USB Type-A port on your computer as shown.

The CA Essential Speakerphone features full plug and play support for Windows, OSX / macOS and Chromebooks. After plugging the speakerphone into the computer, you may start any application that accepts a speakerphone, such as Skype, and begin using your speakerphone.
If the computer does not automatically recognize the speakerphone when it is plugged into the USB Type-A port, try plugging the USB cable into a different USB Type-A port. If this does not work, then restart the computer. This will cause the speakerphone to be recognized in most instances.

Controls

Zoom Meeting/Phone Functionality Not supported for other Applications) Press to accept a meeting invite or answer a call. During the call, Long presses the “Call” key for 1 second to hang up. When the call comes, long press 2 seconds to reject the call.

**** Press to increase the volume (Long press the “Vol+” continuously for more than 2 seconds to continuously increase the volume)
In playing music mode or Talk mode, Short press the “mic-mute” key to mute the mic input;
Press to decrease the volume (Long press the “Vol-” continuously for more than 2 seconds to continuously reduce the volume)

Source – In Bluetooth mode, long-press the “BT” key for 3 seconds to disconnect the Bluetooth and enter pairing mode.
Power – In Standby mode, Short press once “Power” key to turn on the speaker; in Working mode, Long press the “Power” key for 2 seconds to turn off the speaker.
Controls
The main unit can’t enter standby mode when inserted DC in or when in USB Audio mode.
The main unit will auto power-off mode within 15 minutes if the Bluetooth is disconnected.
Wake up function description
Press the “Power” key once in the main unit to wake up the main unit from standby mode.
If the main unit is connected to the computer through the USB type-c cable, it will also wake up from standby mode.
Auto source switch
When in BT mode, plugin USB type-c and connect with the computer, will auto switch to USB Audio mode?
When in USB Audio mode, if unplug the USB type-c cable, will auto switch to BT mode.
The Bluetooth SSID name will show in the USB Audio mode, the phone can pair and connect.
In the USB Audio mode, the Bluetooth is connected, if a call is incoming or plays music in the phone, the main unit will auto switch to BT mode. When in BT mode, press the source key will switch back to the USB Audio mode.
Volume control
Volume range: 0-16. It will keep the previous vol level when power off/power on again.
BT mode and USB Audio mode use different volumes, they are not synced with each other.

Bluetooth connection
Can’t connect for the first time| • Turn off the speaker.
• Check your Bluetooth source device and be sure you have found the section that allows you to discover new Bluetooth products. If you see the speaker on the list, but cannot connect, you may need to try and synch again. To start fresh, with your Bluetooth device, select
“Forget this device,” to remove the “CA Essential SP” from the list. You may need to turn off the Bluetooth function on your device to fully clear your list.
• Turn the speakers back on and go into the “pairing mode”.
• Return to your source device, and re-enable the Bluetooth function. Look for the “CA Essential SP” to show back up on the list.
• Select the speaker on your screen, and listen for the audible sound to confirm pairing.
Bluetooth connection
Can’t connect when returning| • If, for some reason, the speaker does not automatically reconnect with your Bluetooth device, you may need to physically go into your device’s Bluetooth settings and re-select the speaker to reconnect.
• Be sure to check your room environment. Today’s Bluetooth technology has a designed limit of approximately 30 feet, line of sight. This generally means your best results will be limit your source device and speakers to the same room. Extremely large rooms, or rooms with lots of wireless electronics, wi-fi routers, radio transmitters, etc, may affect your ability to pair.
• Check for obstructions, walls or other objects that might impede the Bluetooth signal.
• Try returning to the source device to closer proximity with your speakers.

• Double click on “Sound”, then click on the “Playback” tab.

Windows 10: Speakerphone does not set up automatically| • In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel, then select it from the results.
• Select Hardware and Sound from the Control Panel, and then select Sound.
• On the Playback tab, right-click “CA Essential SP”, select Set as Default
Device, and then select OK.
• Verify green circle with a checkmark next to “CA Essential SP”.
• On the “Recording” tab, right-click “CA Essential SP”, select Set as Default Device, and then select OK.

• (Optional) To adjust the speaker volume, click Properties.
• When finished, click “Apply” then “OK”.

Mac: Speakerphone does not set up automatically| • Open the Finder Application, then select Applications.
• Open System Preferences, then click Sound.
• Select the Input tab, then select “CA Essential SP”. Make sure that the mute button isn’t selected.
• Select the Output tab, then select “CA Essential SP”. Make sure that the mute button isn’t selected
• When finished, close System Preferences.

USB connection
Speakerphone does not have sound / The microphone is not working| – Check the computer’s volume level.
– Check proper seating of cable connection.
– Verify the application settings you are using. Some applications have separate volume level control.
– Check that the computer recognizes the speakerphone – showing it is
connected and selected within your computer OS settings.

– Verify the input/output levels within the sound/audio settings of your
computer’s settings.
– Unplug the speakerphone from the USB port of the computer and then
re-insert it into the USB port of the computer.
– Restart your computer and re-verify the above steps. Restarting often helps
a computer connect to the speaker.
