GENERAL INFORMATION
These instructions accompanying the product are the original instructions. This document is part of the product, keep it for the life of the product passing it on to any subsequent holder of the product. Read all these instructions before assembling, operating or maintaining this product. This manual has been compiled by Draper Tools describing the purpose for which the product has been designed, and contains all the necessary information to ensure its correct and safe use. By following all the general safety instructions contained in this manual, it will ensure both product and operator safety, together with longer life of the product itself. AlI photographs and drawings in this manual are supplied by Draper Tools to help illustrate the operation of the product. HEALTH & SAFETY INFORMATION
IMPORTANT: EN149:2001+A1:2009 single-use respirators against solid and liquid aerosols are classified according to one of three categories – FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. Before reading the following information, please check the category to which the respirator belongs – this is indicated on the packaging and on the respirator.
APPLICATIONS
- FFP1: Protection against non-toxic solid and liquid aerosols (e.g. oil-mists) in concentrations up to 4 x MAC/OEL/TLV, [i.e. NPF = 4 ] or 4 x WEL, [i.e. APF = 4].
- FFP2: Protection against non-toxic and low-to-average toxicity solid and liquid aerosols (e.g. oil-mists) in concentrations up to 12 x MAC/OEL/TLV, [i.e. NPF = 12] or 10 x WEL, [i.e. APF = 10].
- FFP3: Protection against non-toxic, low-to-average toxicity and high toxicity solid and liquid aerosols (e.g. oil-mists) in concentrations up to 50 x MAC/OEL/TLV, [i.e. NPF = 50] or 20 x WEL, [i.e. APF = 20].
- CHARCOAL FILTERS: 82484/82485 and 82561/82562 include charcoal filters that offer added comfort by eliminating fumes when welding or decorating respectively.
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Clear vision
Low profile design lets you see where you are going and what you are doing.
Glasses or safety goggles can be worn without affecting vision.
Contour fit
Soft metal nose piece adjusts closely over bridge of nose. Non-woven filter
material fits comfortably over facial features.
CHECK PRIOR TO USE
Inspect respirator, including any component parts, for holes, tears or damage
prior to use. Should any damage be identified, DO NO USE IT. Get a new one.
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
- Hold the respirator in hand with the nosepiece at your fingertips. Allow headbands to hang freely below hand.
- Cup the respirator firmly against your face with the nosepiece on the bridge of your nose.
- Stretch and pull the lower headband over the head and position below your ears. Stretch and pull the top headband on the back of your head above your ears. Respirators with adjustable headbands only: while maintaining the position of the respirator, adjust tension by pulling lab of each headband. (Tension may be decreased by pushing out the back of the buckle.)
- Press soft nosepiece to conform snugly around the nose.
- To test fit for respirator without exhalation valve: Cup both hands over the respirator and exhale vigorously.
- To test fit for respirator with exhalation valve: Cup both hands over the respirator and inhale sharply.
A negative pressure should be felt inside respirator. If air flows around your nose, tighten the nosepiece. If air leaks around the edges, reposition the headband for better fit.
NOTE: Change respirator immediately if breathing becomes difficult or respirator becomes damaged or distorted, or a proper face fit can not be maintained. Careful observance of these instructions is an important step in safe respirator use.
WARNING:
- Failure to follow all instructions and limitations on the use of this product could reduce the effectiveness of respirator and result in sickness or death.
- A properly selected respirator is essential to protect your health. Before using this respirator, consult an Industrial Hygienist or Occupational Safety Professional to determine the suitability for your intended use.
- This product does not supply oxygen. Use only in adequately ventilated areas containing sufficient oxygen to support life. Do not use this respirator when oxygen concentration is less than 19%
- Do not use when concentrations of contaminants are immediately dangerous to health or life.
- Do not use in explosive atmospheres.
- Leave work area immediately and return to fresh air if (a) breathing becomes difficult, or (b) dizziness or other distress occurs.
- Facial hairs or beards and certain facial characteristics may reduce the effectiveness of this respirator.
- Never alter or modify this respirator in any way.
- Only for single shift use. No maintenance necessary. Discard the used respirator after single shift use.
- Keep respirators in the display box away from direct sunlight until use.
