INTENDED USE.
Only use the 1600W Router as described in this instruction manual. The use of any accessory or attachment or performance of any operation with this tool other than those recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal injury and/or damage to property. This tool is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instructions concerning use of the tool by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the tool.

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION. WARNING!
Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Please retain all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering the power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

WORK AREA SAFETY.
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. Keep bystanders, children and animals away while operating the power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

BEFORE USE.
WARNING!
Know your 1600W Router. Do not plug the tool into the power source until you have read and understood the information in this manual. Learn the tool’s applications and limitations, as well as the specific potential hazards related to this tool, in order to reduce the risk of electric shock, fire or serious injury.
WARNING!
If any part is missing or damaged, do not plug the tool into the power source or install any accessory until the missing or damaged part is repaired or replaced. Failure to follow this instruction could result in serious personal injury. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, nonskid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce the risk of personal injury.
WARNING! Contact with, or inhalation of, dusts arising from cutting applications may endanger the health of the operator and possible bystanders. Wear a dust mask specifically designed for protection against dust and fumes and ensure that persons within or entering the work area are also protected. Always wear eye protection. Any power tool can throw foreign objects into your eyes and cause permanent eye damage. Always wear safety goggles (not glasses) that comply with ANSI safety standard Z87.1. Everyday glasses have only impactresistant lenses. They are not safety glasses.

WARNING!
Wearing glasses or goggles NOT in compliance with ANSI Z87.1 when operating this tool could cause serious injury. Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts to prevent them from becoming caught in the tool. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure that these are connected and properly used to reduce dust- related hazards. Use clamps, or another practical way, to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform.
Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control. Make sure there are no nails or foreign objects in the path of the workpiece to be cut or sanded. Be aware of hidden hazards, before cutting into walls, floors or ceilings, check for the location of wiring and pipes. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting to the power source and/ or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that are switched on invites accidents.

POWER TOOL USE AND CARE.
Use the power tool, accessories and Router Bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

WARNING!
Use only accessories recommended for this 1600W Router. Follow the instructions that accompany the accessories. The use of improper accessories may result in injury to the operator or damage the tool. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. A power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. A cutting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
Keep hands away from cutting area. Never reach underneath a work piece for any reason. Do not insert fingers or thumb into the vicinity of the accessory/ sanding attachments. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This will enable better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing. Such preventative safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. The accessory will continue to move after releasing the switch. Always switch the tool off and wait for the accessory to come to a complete standstill before putting the tool down. Do not touch the workpiece or the accessory immediately after operating the tool. They can become very hot.

STORAGE & MAINTENANCE.
Store idle power tools out of reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain the power tool. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
Keep accessories sharp. Dull or damaged accessory may cause the 1600W Router to swerve or stall under pressure. Always use the appropriate type of accessories for the work-piece material and type of cut. Never use dull accessory in the tool. They will cut slower, leave rough cuts and break easily due to added pressure and excessive heat. They will also overload the motor and cause premature failure of the tool. Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using identical replacement parts only to ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

AVOIDING KICKBACK.
Maintain a firm grip on the power tool and position your body and arm to allow you to resist kickback forces. Always use auxiliary handle, if provided, for maximum control over kickback or torque reaction during start up. The operator can control torque reactions or kickback forces, if proper precautions are taken.
Never place your hand near the rotating accessory. Accessory may kickback over your hand. Do not position your body in the area where power tool will move if kickback occurs. Kickback will propel the tool in the direction opposite to the wheel’s movement at the point of snagging. Use special care when working corners, sharp edges etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging the accessory. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a tendency to snag the rotating accessory and cause loss of control or kickback.

INSTALLING THE DUST EXTRACTION ADAPTOR

The Dust Extraction Adaptor (18) allows for a suitable vacuum cleaner to be connected.
To attach insert the Dust Extraction Adaptor (18) from the rear of the Router.

Secure the Dust Extraction Adaptor using the Dust Extraction Adaptor Screws + Nuts & Bolts (19).

SPEED ADJUSTMENT

The speed can be adjusted by rotating the Variable Speed Dial (1). The Speed Dial can be adjusted between speeds of 1 to Max. The speed will vary from 6000-22000min-1 between the speeds of 1 and Max. This allows the speed to be correctly adjusted to suit the type of material and task at hand.

INSTALLING BITS

Press the Spindle Lock Button (6) and rotate the spindle so the lock engages.|

The Collet Nut (7) can be loosened by using the supplied Wrench (17).
When loosening/tightening. Hold the Spindle Lock
Button (6) whilst turning the Wrench anticlockwise/clockwise.|
Remove the Collet Nut completely|
Ensure you use the correct size of Collet (20/21) suitable for the Bit.|
Return the Collet Nut but do not fully tighten.|
Insert a suitable Bit for the task at hand, ensuring that at least 25mm, or half of the shaft is inserted into the Collet.
Tighten the Collet Nut using the Wrench (17).
WARNING: Do not over tighten the Collet Nut (7) as this could damage to the Collet or the Spindle Lock.
NOTE: Do not tighten the Collet Nut (7) without a Bit/Accessory installed as this can bend or damage the Collet.|

USING THE STRAIGHT GUIDE

Loosen the Guide Fence Locking Screws (27) on the Guide Fence (26). v|

Insert the Guide Fence Rods (25) through the holes in the Guide Fence (26).|
Tighten the Guide Fence Locking Screws (27) to secure the Guide Fence Rods (25).|
Loosen the Parallel Guide Locking Screws (15/8).|
Feed the Guide Fence Rods through the holes on the Plunge Base (16). Adjust the Guide Fence until it is set at the correct distance from the Router Bit and the cut to be made.|
Secure the Guide Fence into place by tightening the Parallel Guide Locking Screws (15/8).|

ADJUSTING THE CUTTING DEPTH

WARNING: When using the Router along with the Plunge Base ensure you have both hands on the Handles.

Place the Router onto a flat surface. Loosen the Depth Guide Locking Screw (11).|

Turn the Adjustable Turret Depth Stop (9) so that the Depth Guide is at its highest position.|
Lower the body of the Router until the Bit touches the workpiece, lock the position of the Router into place by locking the Depth Locking Lever (14).|
Lower the Depth Guide (10) so it touches the highest step on the Adjustable Turret Depth Stop (9).|
Rotate the Adjustable Turret Depth Stop to select one of the 6 cutting depths.
NOTE: Each step represents 3mm.|
Use the Micro Adjustment Dial (10a) to select a precise cutting depth. Rotate to the right to raise the bit and anticlockwise to lower.
Once all adjustments have been made tighten the Depth Locking Screw (11) and release the Depth Lock Lever (14) and lower the router until the Depth Guide touches the Adjustable Turret Depth Stop (9).`|

MAKING A CUT

NOTE: Before making a cut, ensure the correct router bit is in place and correctly secured. Ensure the cutting depth has been adjusted correctly.
Place the Plunge Base (16) onto the work piece, making sure the bit is not in contact with the material to be cut.|

Turn the Router on by pressing the Lock Off Button (5) while still holding press the On/Off Trigger (12).
Release the Lock Off Button.
If the On/Off Trigger is release follow the same steps again to power back on.|
Lower the Router body into the work piece.|
Lock the Router in the position at the desired cutting depth, which will be predefined as shown on page 10.|
Follow the Guide to assist when routing the workpiece.|

TEMPLATE GUIDE

The Template Guide (22) allows for easy following of a template when cutting copies of a pattern.
The Template Guide is secured into place using the Dust
Extraction Adaptor Bolts & Nuts (19).
Remove the four screws located on the Plunge Base (16).
Insert the Template Guide (22) into the recess on the
Plunge Base (16).
Secure the Template Guide using the four screws back onto the Plunge Base.
Completely secure into place by also screwing the
Dust Extraction Bolts into place.

CIRCULAR CUTTING

To use the Circular Cutting Guide (23), Install one of the Guide Fence Rods into the Plunge Base. Take the Circle Guide and attach to the opposite end. Tighten the screw to secure into place. Place the screw into the Centre of the circle to be cut. Adjust the router bit as previously instructed on Page 10. Pivot the router around in a clockwise direction. Taking several passes adjusting the depth each pass.

CURVED EDGE GUIDE

When cutting a curved edge you will need to use the Guide Fence along with the Guide Rods and Curved Edge Guide (23).

NOTE: You will need to remove the Black Guards from the Edge
Guide. Remove Screws as shown in Fig 1.

Using two of the screws from the Edge Guard secure the Curved Edge Guide to the Edge Guide as shown in Fig 2.
When cutting, move the Router with the Curved Edge Guide riding the side of the workpiece as shown in Fig 3.

CHANGING THE BRUSHES

Regularly check and replace the Carbon Brushes (3) when required.
NOTE: Always change Carbon Brushes as sets.
To replace, remove use a screwdriver to remove the Brush Holder Caps (4).
Remove the worn Carbon Brushes and insert the new ones and replace the Brush Holder Caps.
NOTE: Always change the Carbon brushes in pairs, and ensure you use the correct size of Brush.
BRUSH SIZE: (6mm x 10mm x 20mm)

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING THE TOOL.
Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, shortening the tool’s service life. Clean the body of your tool with a soft brush or dry cloth.
CAUTION: Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, use a mild detergent on a damp cloth.
WARNING! Do not allow water to come into contact with the tool. If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes (where applicable). Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it.

CLEANING THE DUST EXTRACTOR ADAPTOR

To clean the Dust Extractor remove it from the Router and separate the two pieces using a small screw driver or simply pull apart. Clean with a soft brush or dry cloth.
CAUTION: Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, use a mild detergent on a damp cloth.
To secure back together align the two pieces up and push until a “click” is herd.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM	SOLUTION

ROUTER WILL NOT OPERATE/RUNS
SLOWLY| Ensure the tool is connected to the mains power supply.
Blunt or damaged router bits.
Variable Speed is set too low.
Motor is overloaded.
THE TOOL KEEPS KICKING/STALLING.| Relieve some pressure on the tool. Do not exert extra force, let the tool do the job.
EXCESSIVE VIBRATION.| The material is too thick and is placing strain on the motor.
Bent router bit shaft, replace the router bit.
EXCESSIVE NOISE.| The material is too thick and is placing strain on the motor.
Bent router bit shaft, replace the router bit.
THE TOOL IS OVERHEATING.| Allow the tool to cool before using again.
HEAVY SPARKING OCCURS INSIDE THE MOTOR HOUSING| Brushes are not moving freely, Disconnect power and clean or replace the Carbon Brushes.
