Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a CD player from Sony?
Sony has been producing high-quality CD players since 1982, when the Sony CDP-101 became the first widely available CD player.

  • Is it still possible to purchase CD players?
New CD players are continually being released by audio firms.

  • Why won’t my CD player recognize the disc?
Clean your CDs both before and after each use. Although a compact disc has a far longer life expectancy than a cassette tape, it is also more fragile. Many CD players will fail to read or skip a CD if it has scratches, dust, or other damage to the data side of the disc.

  • Are CD players becoming obsolete?
CDs aren’t going away anytime soon. Any music that is available for purchase is released on CD or hybrid SACD (very common with classical music labels). People have been buying CDs for 35 years, thus CD players aren’t yet obsolete. Remember that vinyl and new turntables are still available, ranging from ultra-low-cost to high-end.

  • Why aren’t CD players standard in new vehicles?
Newer music-playing options, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, have mostly replaced CD players in newer cars, allowing you to utilize many of the apps on your smartphone through the car’s infotainment system, allowing you to play music from your phone or connect to a Spotify account.
